“Dayana is always so quick to respond to bookings, despite last minute requests. She is always keeping me updated throughout using video. Kitty loves going over because there is usually others dog she can play with. So happy we found Dayana!”

“Ruben was fantastic with communication and care of our dogs. Thank you so much for caring for our babies as a part of your family and for the updates throughout the day. We will be rebooking for future use as the need arises. :)”

“Attentive and friendly. I felt really good about leaving my two dogs with her and she communicated very well throughout the whole process. I will definitely be requesting her again; she was so good to my dogs.”

“My dog Coco had a wonderful time with Emily and Amy and their dog, Pepperoni 🌶. I would certainly recommend Emily to anyone needing doggy day care. And I will certainly bring Coco again.”

“We had a great experience with them during our stay in Chicago. We had to change our schedule around last minute and they were super accommodating and prompt with responses. Our pup had an amazing time with them. Highly recommend them for your pet care!”

About: I only take one pet at a time, so as to give everyone the care and attention they deserve. My dog, Ela, loves a playmate and is a pack animal at heart. She’s good at sharing toys and her bed, but draws the line at her bowl (so eating will take place separately). I work from home and generally work late - so I prefer to spend my weeknights at home. Most weekends I’m out in the evenings on Friday and Saturday (but not more than 4hrs) - those are the only real times I’m not home. We maintain an active lifestyle and go on at least two walks per day (~5 miles), which may be challenging for older pets. I’m a firm believer in leading with trust when it comes to pet-parenting. So I’ve “pet proofed” my home so that my dog, Ela, and others feel as at-ease, comfortable, and cozy as possible. Pets are treated like humans around here at all times other than meal time and potty time! I can accommodate crating needs, but prefer to watch animals that can be trusted out as Ela is given free-range. The park directly across the street is Ela’s de-facto “front yard”. She does well off-leash. But I generally don’t let other animals off unless I’m given explicit assurance as the park isn’t fenced and there is a one-way street nearby. We go to Wicker Bark (gated) most days as well.
“Christine was our life saver when we visited Chicago. It was a last minute booking and she accommodated us quickly. She loved our fur baby! Our Rollo had a blast with her and her beautiful cats ♥️ Thank you, Christine! We appreciate your love and care for fur babies.”

“Mary was communicative, convenient and put my mind at ease as we were in the city for the weekend and our hotel couldn’t accommodate for a late check out to house our pup, Teddy. 🤍 Our niece had a soccer game at Seat Geek stadium in 90 degree October weather and Mary solved our quandary and was as warm and inviting as the unseasonable weather. Highly recommend!”

About: I had a rescue dog and took care of him for several years. I also took care of my mom’s senior dog who had vision and bladder control issues. I have dog and cat sit for friends with many different breeds and sizes. I grew up with two cats in my household and am comfortable caring for them. I enjoy being around cats just as much as dogs. :) I make sure to carry out the instructions owners leave for me and am meticulous about keeping their place and pet as clean as possible. I love to play with and take pets for long walks or to the park. I am available every week day from 9 am -9 pm except Thursdays from 4-9 pm. I am available all day Friday through Sunday. I have had dogs in my home before and am comfortable with any kind of care they need. I can put them in a crate or leave them out of a crate for overnights. I will also take them for walks around the neighborhood or let them run around in the yard. I am happy to play fetch or throw toys for them. I will make sure they get food, water, and medicine at their regularly scheduled times.
“My dogs had a wonderful time. They took my girls for a walk and entertained them. The entire family is so friendly and my girls really liked them. I will definitely use Malchom again.”

“Yuetong is amazing. I am so happy and grateful that Haku had a wonderful day with her today. She took him to the dog park and he had a blast! Haku is always so excited to see Yuetong and her fur babies. We can’t wait to see them again!”

“Luciene is so wonderful with my Charlotte. I feel completely confident when leaving Charlotte with her- how can I be so confident? Because Charlotte loves her and is excited to see her always! Luciene and Luciano are so kind and welcoming. Luciene is well experienced and overall great with Charlotte. She sent pictures during and after the day of daycare, along with a report card. Thanks Luciene for caring for my little button and giving me a sense of peace, knowing that she is well cared for and will enjoy hanging out with you!!”

“Lorraine was fantastic with Aspen. I had communication and pics through the day. Aspen was relaxed and comfortable at your home. Thank you so much for helping us out today.”

About: I grew up taking care and even sitting some of my mom's friends dogs. In my teens I would take care and sit a few family members dogs. I then volunteered at a puppy adoption center in Mexico. I am currently only attending school on Friday mornings from 8am to 12pm. I will update my schedule once I go back to tutoring or when my classes change. I will ensure that your pets get the care they need and the exercise they need. I will also pay attention to any requests your pets may need.

My Munchkin had a great time here! Will definitely be bringing him more often. The details on how he was getting along and whether he was able to eat his meals is greatly appreciated! The pictures are so nice to have too especially in the beginning when you’re not sure if he will play right away. Yes he did! :)

If I could give 100 stars. Lucy is the absolute best ever. I had a last minute change to my schedule and she accommodated me the morning of. She & her wonderful family have been taking care of my sweet baby Coraline for 3 years…and I don’t know what I would have done without them. Cora loves Lucy and all though I am moving away from Chicago, I will always bring Cora by to her second family when we are back in town! 💕💕💕💕💕 honestly, the best of all time. Thank you all so much for caring my baby

I booked with Esmirna again, this time for doggy daycare, and as always, it was a great experience. Nadia truly enjoys her time there and is always happy and comfortable when she’s with Esmirna. She is professional, kind, and clearly cares about the animals she watches. I would definitely recommend Esmirna to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.

Aaron was so helpful with watching our dog before our son’s birthday party! He was professional, friendly, and clearly a dog person (has a great calm energy around our pup). She warmed right up to him and I was grateful he was thoughtful enough to swing by and grab her day of vs us having to take her to him. We would def recommend Aaron and are looking forward to using him in the future!

Louie had a fun visit to Michelle's house and was able to play with two other dogs. Her son was home and took them all for a walk and shared pictures. It was exactly what I was looking for, a great way for my dog to be social with others, in an open safe place. This was my first use of Rover, and I'm glad it was with Michelle.

As a nurse I work 12 hour shifts, and I had to work 5 days in a row. Needless to say I was depleted and stressed. It meant so much to me to know Haku was getting the attention and love he deserves. Every day when he came home, he had already pottied and was ready for bed! Samantha and her family are wonderful, I am so grateful

Christine was our life saver when we visited Chicago. It was a last minute booking and she accommodated us quickly. She loved our fur baby! Our Rollo had a blast with her and her beautiful cats ♥️ Thank you, Christine! We appreciate your love and care for fur babies.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
