“Katalina was great while watching our dog and cat! She was responsive and left our home spotless! Thank you for helping us get away for a few days… not easy to do with 3 kiddos these days. It was such a relief to not have to worry about the animals. I would def recommend her!”

“Nicole was very attentive and super communicative while we were away. The pets (dog + 2 cats) were well cared for and the house was just as we left it. We got plenty of pictures and videos that the kids enjoyed. Would 100% book again.”

“Very happy with Patrycja. She dog sat last weekend and I felt she gave my Ivy a great amount of attention and exercise. She even washed the sheets before she left, which was an unexpected bonus! Would definitely use her again.”

“Diane continues to be our most favorite, go-to sitter! Our dog is always happy and calm when we come home, she communicates thoroughly throughout the day, and I have 100% confidence that our dog is cared for & loved!”

“After having some pretty negative petsitting experiences, I was nervous to try someone new again. Jessica was great. She did everything we asked of her and even took the dog to the vet for a quick bandage removal (following an emergency we had the morning before we left town). Would definitely book her again!”

“Cristian was perfect with Mochi! The meet and greet was super helpful and he was super easy to communicate with. He sent me multiple pictures and videos throughout the day to keep me updated. If I am ever back in town, I will definitely book with him again! :)”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my family. Growing up we had dogs and cats that were central to our lives. We even rescued a possum that we raised for 2 years. Six years ago, my partner and I adopted our corgi, Pippin. He is truly my child and the household revolves around him. Pippin unfortunately has some neurological issues that we have worked diligently through, working with trainers, vets, and behaviorists to give him the best quality of life possible. I have become very attuned to dog body behavior and managing fear-based aggression as well as resource guarding. I also am familiar with finding a “job” for herding breeds and can teach different commands, tricks, and games. I am comfortable administering oral, eye, and ear medications. I have experience with everything from letting a puppy out in the middle of the night to helping my parents take care of their large breed senior dogs. While dogs are more center stage in my life today, I also have a lot of love for all cats, from cuddle bugs to independent hermits. I believe It’s important that we adapt to each individual animal’s needs and focus on setting them up for success. I have a flexible in-office schedule and can work remotely as needed with enough notice. I am happy to work from your home if a full pet sit is needed or drop by for walks and play, depending on what kind of care you’re looking for. I will follow the directions you leave for taking care of your pet in your home. Whether that means they have full roam or are crated at times, I’m happy to keep their routine as normal as possible. I’m also happy to get on the floor and play or go for a long walk in the afternoon or evening.
“Sean was an absolute treasure to our girl, Luna. He was very responsive from the get-go and made sure that all of our accommodations were met. I’m not sure that we will ever book with anybody else as Luna adored Sean when we returned. I would give Sean 100/10 stars if I could. I highly recommend entrusting him.”

About: Growing up my family always had multiple pets at once. All the way from different aquariums, to guinea pigs, cats and dogs. I’ve been a proud dog mom to my son bandit for 12 years, i’m 23 now. In my late teens I worked at a pet store for about two years, during that time I accumulated vast knowledge of different types of animal friends. My whole life has been filled of all different types of pet care ! Recently, in July, I moved here from Florida. I’ve been a licensed barber there for two years, and I’m currently in the process of transferring my license to Illinois, which will take a long time. So I currently have open availability. I plan to provide pet care in my clients’ homes, so I can keep their pets comfy in their familiar environment. In doing so, I will make sure to follow their normal feeding, walking, potty, and play routines as closely as possible. I will also make sure they receive plenty of care and supervision just as i would want for my own.
About: I have experience caring for pets of my own, including dogs and cats, and understand how important it is to make sure they feel safe, loved, and comfortable. I’m familiar with the daily responsibilities of pet care, including feeding, providing attention, keeping their spaces clean, and making sure they feel secure. I’m patient, attentive, and happy to learn each pet’s individual routine and needs. I will treat your pets with the same care and affection I give my own! I’m currently balancing college and part-time work, so my availability varies throughout the week. I’m especially interested in scheduling pet care around my classes and work shifts, with more flexibility on weekends when available. I’m happy to communicate ahead of time to find a schedule that works best for you and your pet. Your pet’s comfort, safety, and routine will always be a priority! Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take the time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, feeding instructions, and any special needs before providing care. In your home, I’ll respect your space while making sure your pet has fresh water, food as instructed, a clean environment, and plenty of attention. I’ll be mindful of doors, gates, leashes, and potential hazards to help keep your pet safe. I also understand the importance of patience and positive reinforcement, allowing pets to feel comfortable at their own pace. I’ll communicate with you throughout the booking and provide updates and photos so you can feel confident that your furry family member is in caring hands.
“Gaby stayed at our home and watched 3 of our dogs for us while we went out of town for a couple of days. She was wonderful from start to finish, with great communication, updates and making sure our dogs were comfortable with her. We are so grateful for how well she cared for our pups and will definitely be using her again!”

“Destiny is amazing! My boy had a bit of a stomach bug, and Destiny was willing to handle a special diet and take him on some extra walks while I was away. I can tell that he loved spending time with her! Her photo updates were wonderful, and I came home to so many thoughtful housekeeping touches throughout my apartment! Destiny is so joyful and kind, I can’t recommend her enough. Patty can’t wait for the next time she comes to stay!”

About: I’ve worked as a full time nanny for the past 6 years and have been responsible for walking and caring for their pets too, I also have my own senior doggie, a 13 year old schnauzer and have always loved caring for kiddos and their animal friends. I currently work as a nanny Monday- Friday, but only 4 hours per day because I am only responsible for school drop offs and pick ups, so a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the afternoon and I have the rest of the day available for walks and pet sitting! I can crate your dog if needed and provide any medication necessary for your pets, I love doing long walks and can stick to any schedule necessary whether that be feeding time or potty time. I am always punctual and I feel very passionate about making your pets feel safe and well taken care of.
“Reshunda was amazing to work with. My pup has some allergy issues and she did a great job at checking in and following directions. Thanks so much for taking care of my baby!”

“I genuinely cannot say enough good things about Cornelia! She is incredibly communicative, always keeps me updated, and makes being away from home so much easier. My cat absolutely adores her (to the point where I’m starting to think he prefers her over me). Even my neighbor went out of her way to tell me how lovely she is! I’ve booked Cornelia twice now, and both times I’ve come home to a house that was somehow in better shape than when I left it. It’s the little things that really set her apart. She’s checked for street-cleaning signs, moved my car, brought in packages and kept me informed, and watered my plants. She’s incredibly thoughtful, reliable, and proactive, and genuinely cares about both my cat and my home. At this point, Cornelia feels more like family than a pet sitter. I honestly can’t imagine trusting anyone else with my cat and home, and she will absolutely be my go-to for every trip going forward. Could not recommend her more!”
“Alli is absolutely phenomenal!! She always gives fantastic updates and has excellent communication. My home is always kept super clean and organized. Atlas always loves Alli when she visits!”

About: What sets me apart would be that I take pride in being a huge lover of animals. I take care of them like they are my children❤️🐶 I work a very flexible schedule so I’m able to be with them longer and I have more days always available to me to sit ! I will always take them out and be sure to give them lots of play time or just bunch of cuddles. It makes me happy to just be in their presence

Isabell was a fantastic sitter for our two dogs and took great care of our home. I feel bad for putting Isabell in a tough spot, as we booked last minute after a cancelation, and she had to deal with unanticipated home construction and related challenges too! Not only was Isabell unfazed and prepared to step in at a moment's notice, but she took great care of the dogs, kept us informed, and kept the house in great condition. Her end of visit report card on the pups was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Highly recommend, and we will make it a priority to rebook when possible!

I cannot say enough good about Gena. She was wonderful with my kids, kept in touch regularly and just all around great. The house was, dare I say, cleaner when I returned than when I left. My 70+@ collie mix and normally vocal cat were very chill when I walked in the door. Definitely glad to see me but very relaxed and comfortable. I couldn’t ask for a better house/pet sitter. Will definitly check with Gena for all my future overnights away.
Max was an outstanding pet sitter, and I recommend him without hesitation. I was traveling internationally for over two weeks, so it was incredibly important to find someone I could trust with both my home and my senior dog, Daisy. Max exceeded every expectation. He sent thoughtful updates and photos every day, making it easy to relax and enjoy my trip knowing Daisy was happy and well cared for. It was obvious from his messages that he genuinely enjoyed spending time with her, and it was equally clear that Daisy had become very attached to him. As a pet owner, there is nothing more reassuring than knowing your dog is not just being cared for, but truly loved. Max also took excellent care of my home. He brought in the mail, watered my indoor and outdoor plants, kept everything neat and tidy, and was always easy to communicate with. When I returned home, Daisy was happy, healthy, and clearly comfortable after spending time with him. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will absolutely book Max again, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, communicative, and genuinely caring pet sitter.
The weekend of my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding, Angelina provided care to their cat as well as my three cats, staying overnight for two nights at my home. Prior to that weekend, she came over to meet the cats and myself and run through their daily care routine. Even my shy cat Brody seemed curious about her. Wedding weekend, she was great at providing updates through text and photos throughout her stay, and I appreciated her attention to cleaning up their litter boxes and feeding mats one more time before she left. She has a gift for working with animals and is trustworthy and easy to communicate with. I will definitely use her again!

Leah was absolutely wonderful with Shelby, our dog. The first time she came over to meet Shelby, I knew she was great with dogs. Shelby is usually very apprehensive about meeting new people, but she warmed right away to Leah. Leah was sweet and attentive and treated Shelby as if she was her own family pet. She stayed at our house and left everything so spotless! She is an amazing dog sitter and I am so relieved to have found someone to watch Shelby when I can't be there. Five stars!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Summit Argo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Summit Argo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Summit Argo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
