“Katalina gave us great peace of mind watching our dog Avery. She gave regular updates and pictures of our pup, and she was clear and friendly in her communication. Such a professional who wants to make sure your fur baby is taken care ofb”

About: I have taken care of dogs for most of my life! I had a puppy as a young girl, and cared for her through her old age. I also have extensive pet sitting experience, and have watched 5 dogs simultaneously on numerous occasions (including 3 high energy Vizslas and a Great Dane!). I have a very caring personality and would love to care for your fur babies! When it comes to cats, I have about 12 years of experience. I have taken care of numerous outdoor stray cats, and have rehomed many of them, including taking two into my own home. I am self employed (jewelry artist!) so I have plenty of time to check in with your pets, walk/play etc. I am available anytime during the week (M-F) and usually on the weekends as well. I currently live in a small apartment, and would need to come by you. I am excellent at following directions, and will cater to you and your pets needs.
“Thank you so much for caring for my fish, pups, and plants. I hope you were comfortable. I would definitely book again. I would even like to see your band play again. I really enjoyed the last time. I follow you on Facebook so maybe I’ll see one that’s close. Be well, Angelique”

“Miguel was so good with our old girl! He even carried her down the stairs when she was having trouble. He was great with communication and made sure everything was in order so we could relax on our trip!”

Before pursuing my career, I am taking time off to work and spend time with family. I am a lover of all animals, though I have the most experience with cats and dogs of all ages and sizes. Over the past 8 years, I have worked with several families for drop by visits and extended stays while they travel. I have a fur baby of my own, my cat Ringo, who I love very much. I have several references available for back ground check and to hear from prior families I have worked with for feedback if desired! I would love to work with you and your pets! I have a pretty open schedule! I work 1-2 shifts a week of retail for roughly 4 hours per shift. I can do overnights, extended stays, multiple visits per day, and so on. I’m flexible to your needs! When caretaking for you animal, I’ll be more than ready to follow your expectations. I have a list of references available from prior families I’ve worked with in the past that I am more than welcome to share with you. At any point, feel free to contact me via call or text if you have questions or concerns about the wellbeing of your animal.
“Cristian was awesome. Very communicative and asked all the right questions before booking and updated us frequently with what was going on with our dog. He went above and beyond and took him for an extra walk and feed when our flight was delayed for 4 hours. I’ll definitely book him again!”

About: Hi there! I’m a lifelong animal lover who treats every animal like my own. Whether it’s a walk around the block, playtime in the yard, or cozy cuddles, I make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away I work in education, so I am available in the late afternoons and evenings during the week. My weekend availability is generally very open. :) When caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat each animal like they’re my own: with love, patience, and respect. I take time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, and needs, whether that means sticking to specific feeding times, giving medication, going for long walks, or offering extra cuddles and playtime. I also make sure their environment stays clean and comfortable, and I’m happy to send updates and photos to keep you at ease while you’re away. My goal is always to provide consistency and care so your pet feels safe and happy in their familiar surroundings.
About: Hi! I am a dog lover with a sweet rescue dog of my own. I have fostered many dogs & have taken training courses with my foster group. I’ve taken care of different breeds, from small and cuddly to big and energetic. I enjoy spending time with them, going for walks, playing fetch, and giving them lots of love and attention. I work from home so your furbaby will not be left alone for long periods. I am extra cautious when it comes to the dogs & you can always be at peace knowing they’re at getting treated like royalty at my home! I work from home and I am very active. I do intros with my dog to make sure all dogs are comfortable with each other.
“Nicole has taken care of our golden+corgi combo for 4 days and she's done an amazing job! Sending frequent updates and taking them on walks was great for our separation anxiety. We will certainly continue requesting for her in the future!”

“Destiny is so kind and professional. I felt so safe with her watching my dog. She sent updates at the end of the day to let me know that all was well which helped my anxiety. I would highly recommend!”

About: Growing up my family always had multiple pets at once. All the way from different aquariums, to guinea pigs, cats and dogs. I’ve been a proud dog mom to my son bandit for 12 years, i’m 23 now. In my late teens I worked at a pet store for about two years, during that time I accumulated vast knowledge of different types of animal friends. My whole life has been filled of all different types of pet care ! Recently, in July, I moved here from Florida. I’ve been a licensed barber there for two years, and I’m currently in the process of transferring my license to Illinois, which will take a long time. So I currently have open availability. I plan to provide pet care in my clients’ homes, so I can keep their pets comfy in their familiar environment. In doing so, I will make sure to follow their normal feeding, walking, potty, and play routines as closely as possible. I will also make sure they receive plenty of care and supervision just as i would want for my own.

About: What sets me apart is the way I care for every dog as an individual. I take the time to understand each pet's unique personality, routine, and needs, creating a calm, safe, home-like environment where they can truly relax and simply be themselves. With over 20 years of veterinary experience caring for animals, I'm comfortable with puppies, senior dogs, large breeds, medication administration, and pets needing extra patience or special attention. My goal is for every stay to be built on trust, compassion, and individualized care, giving each pet the freedom to feel safe, loved, and at home—while giving owners complete peace of mind. Pet care is part of my daily routine, not just a job. I work from home much of the time, allowing me to provide breaks, playtime, and individual attention throughout the day. My schedule is flexible, so I can easily adapt to your pet's routine and needs. Your pet's safety and comfort are always my top priorities. My home is clean, calm, and pet-friendly, with a private garden where dogs can safely explore, play, and enjoy fresh air. Separate room is available for pets who need quiet time, extra space, or prefer their own private area. I carefully follow each pet's routine, provide individual attention, regular exercise, and photo updates, so you can feel confident your pet is safe, loved, and truly at home.
About: What sets me apart is that I’m a veterinary technician, so I have professional experience caring for animals with a wide range of needs. I’m comfortable administering medications, following specific care instructions, and recognizing potential warning signs of illness or changes in behavior that may need veterinary attention. I know how to assess a situation, monitor pets closely, and communicate with owners if I notice anything concerning. I’m also comfortable caring for puppies who need extra patience, consistency, supervision, and guidance as they learn routines. For senior pets, I understand that they may need a slower pace, extra attention, medication, or additional monitoring to keep them comfortable. Most importantly, I treat every pet as an individual and take the time to learn their personality, routine, and needs. Whether your pet wants lots of playtime and walks or prefers relaxing and cuddling, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away—and to give you peace of mind knowing they’re in experienced hands. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine. As a veterinary technician, I’m accustomed to caring for animals and making their health, safety, and well-being a priority. I’m available all day Sunday and Monday, and Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. I can provide feeding, walks, playtime, medication administration, and attentive monitoring based on each pet’s individual needs and routine. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on maintaining their normal routine so they feel comfortable and secure while their owner is away. I follow feeding, walking, exercise, medication, and care instructions closely, while also providing plenty of attention and companionship. As a veterinary technician, I’m experienced with administering medications and monitoring pets for changes in behavior or potential signs of illness. I take their health and safety seriously and will communicate with the owner promptly if I notice anything concerning. I also make sure pets receive appropriate exercise, playtime, bathroom breaks, and plenty of love and attention. My goal is for every pet to feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for in their own home.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Summit
Isabell was a fantastic sitter for our two dogs and took great care of our home. I feel bad for putting Isabell in a tough spot, as we booked last minute after a cancelation, and she had to deal with unanticipated home construction and related challenges too! Not only was Isabell unfazed and prepared to step in at a moment's notice, but she took great care of the dogs, kept us informed, and kept the house in great condition. Her end of visit report card on the pups was incredibly sweet and thoughtful. Highly recommend, and we will make it a priority to rebook when possible!

I cannot say enough good about Gena. She was wonderful with my kids, kept in touch regularly and just all around great. The house was, dare I say, cleaner when I returned than when I left. My 70+@ collie mix and normally vocal cat were very chill when I walked in the door. Definitely glad to see me but very relaxed and comfortable. I couldn’t ask for a better house/pet sitter. Will definitly check with Gena for all my future overnights away.
Max was an outstanding pet sitter, and I recommend him without hesitation. I was traveling internationally for over two weeks, so it was incredibly important to find someone I could trust with both my home and my senior dog, Daisy. Max exceeded every expectation. He sent thoughtful updates and photos every day, making it easy to relax and enjoy my trip knowing Daisy was happy and well cared for. It was obvious from his messages that he genuinely enjoyed spending time with her, and it was equally clear that Daisy had become very attached to him. As a pet owner, there is nothing more reassuring than knowing your dog is not just being cared for, but truly loved. Max also took excellent care of my home. He brought in the mail, watered my indoor and outdoor plants, kept everything neat and tidy, and was always easy to communicate with. When I returned home, Daisy was happy, healthy, and clearly comfortable after spending time with him. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will absolutely book Max again, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, communicative, and genuinely caring pet sitter.
The weekend of my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding, Angelina provided care to their cat as well as my three cats, staying overnight for two nights at my home. Prior to that weekend, she came over to meet the cats and myself and run through their daily care routine. Even my shy cat Brody seemed curious about her. Wedding weekend, she was great at providing updates through text and photos throughout her stay, and I appreciated her attention to cleaning up their litter boxes and feeding mats one more time before she left. She has a gift for working with animals and is trustworthy and easy to communicate with. I will definitely use her again!

Leah was absolutely wonderful with Shelby, our dog. The first time she came over to meet Shelby, I knew she was great with dogs. Shelby is usually very apprehensive about meeting new people, but she warmed right away to Leah. Leah was sweet and attentive and treated Shelby as if she was her own family pet. She stayed at our house and left everything so spotless! She is an amazing dog sitter and I am so relieved to have found someone to watch Shelby when I can't be there. Five stars!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Summit walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Summit maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Summit choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
