If you have an anxious dog or if you’re an anxious dog parent, then I’m probably the sitter for you. I have a fur baby of my own, my 1 year old beagle Pete, and he is an extremely energetic, mischievous, stubborn, and anxious little guy. I’ve raised Pete since he was 11 weeks old, so I know all there is to know about puppies and take caring for them very seriously. As someone who follows a pretty structured routine for an anxious dog, I know how important it is to stick to schedules and make sure pets are getting enough walks, enrichment, playtime, love, and attention to help them feel safe and settled while their parent is away. I’ve personally paid people a lot of money to care for Pete because I ask for a lot (literally down to leaving instructions to keep Gilmore Girls on the TV because he likes it lol), so trust me when I say there is nothing “too much” or “too specific” that you can ask of me. I completely understand how important routines and comfort are for our pets because I’m the exact same way with my own dog. I also have experience administering medications and caring for dogs after neutering and medical issues. Pete has dealt with prostate issues, so I’m comfortable handling medication schedules and paying close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy levels, and routines. It’s also worth mentioning that Pete, being a beagle, eats EVERYTHING and keeps me on my toes at all times. Because of that, I’ve become incredibly diligent, patient, observant, and adaptable. Some dogs are calm and cuddly, while others need more play, structure, patience, or stimulation and I’m comfortable adapting to all kinds of personalities and needs. As a dog mom myself I know how reassuring it is to get updates while you’re away, so I’ll happily communicate as much as you’d like. Expect lots of updates, photos, videos, and honest communication. I’m also never afraid to ask questions if I need clarification because I’d rather do things correctly than make assumptions. Most importantly, I want people to know I’m dependable and trustworthy. If you tell me your dog needs a 30 minute walk, we’re doing a full 30 minute walk. If your dog eats from a snuffle mat, has a specific bedtime routine, or can’t be alone after dark, I’m going to follow those instructions exactly as asked. I know how hard it is to trust someone else with your baby, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. Right now I’m focusing on walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays in clients’ homes rather than bringing additional pets into my own home environment.
