“Definitely will be rebooking with Garrett and Ana! You can tell from the first meet and greet that they love animals and they took such good care of Teddie. They sent pictures throughout the week and kept me well informed. I felt 100% comfortable with them and Teddie can’t wait for his next visit.”

“Marcela is reliable, kind, and compassionate. Our dog is always happy to go to her house, as he’s treated like family. Thank you, Marcela, for another great boarding experience!”

“We had a wonderful experience! Our sitter was reliable, communicative, and took great care of our dog. We really appreciated the updates and felt completely comfortable knowing he was in such good hands. We would definitely book again!”

“We were traveling and planned a last minute stop in DC and Mount Vernon. Cameron was able to watch our Luna for 2 nights while we got to enjoy the city and not worry about Luna and the heat. Plus, Luna had other 4 legged friends to hang with. Would definitely recommend and thank you for taking great care of Luna.”

“This was our first time using Rover, and it was also a last minute booking, but we were so lucky to find Kimberly and Michael. They are very friendly, trustworthy and professional from the start, which immediately made us feel comfortable. They took such great care of our dog Yomi and gave her so much attention. They sent us daily photos and updates while we were away. It was really reassuring to see how happy and relaxed Yomi was. We would definitely book with them again. Highly recommended!”

“Kristi and Drew take such good care of our dog! They treat her like she’s one of the family, and I never have to worry about anything while we’re on vacation. I highly recommend them!”

“Fantastic family to board with. Roger was kept very active and given lots of love. Terrific experience and will always try to book with Carrie and Matthew when available.”

“This was my puppy’s first time away from home and he could not have been in better hands! Mary gave us regular updates and tons of pictures and Obi had an absolute blast. She was so patient and understanding with all of his puppy quirks and high energy level. We were a little nervous about how he’d be in a new environment but Mary’s house is set up so well for the dogs with a huge fenced in backyard as well. I know Obi can’t wait to go back!”

“Jodee and AJ took amazing care of my shy pup while I was away for a few days. They have a great indoor and outdoor space and spent time with us during a meet and great to make sure all would go smoothly. Sent daily videos and pics to keep me reassured he was doing well. Would 100% recommend!”

About: I’ve been a lifelong pet lover and have had pets my entire life. I’m also a dog mom myself, so I understand the anxiety that comes with leaving your pet while you’re away. I truly believe pets are family, and I’ll care for yours as if they were my own. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, routine, and individual needs, and I’m always happy to go the extra mile to make sure they feel comfortable, happy, and loved. Booking with me means you’ll also receive detailed updates and plenty of photos, so you can feel connected and have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away. I work from home with a flexible schedule, so I love using my breaks to step away from the computer, get some fresh air, and take walks with my pup. After work, you’ll usually find me going for a run or getting my steps in with my dog. I’d love to have your furry friend join me! I have a very friendly and playful 3-year-old Bernedoodle who loves making new friends! I have a spacious, pet-friendly home with a yard (not fenced), plus a great, walkable neighborhood where we love getting outside. Your pup will have plenty of space, exercise, and companionship!
“Melissa took great care of our Corgi! She sent lots of pictures of their countless walks and I know our dog loved her large fenced in yard. Melissa was almost immediate with any communication and very flexible with drop off and pick up times. We'll definitely look to her for future boarding needs!”

“Rae was great! My boy, Walter, sometimes takes minute to adjust and settle in. But, with Rae he fit right it immediately and had so much fun. She took pictures and let me know he was OK, and even brought him on some errands with her. I’ll definitely be booking with Rae again.”

“Russ is amazing. My poodle Royal loves staying with Russ when we are out of town. We are fortunate to have someone like Russ and Andra for Royal to stay with when we travel.”

“Ezzy had a great time hanging out with two fellow shelties at Amanda’s. We had an opportunity to do a meet and greet so Ezzy could smell all the yard smells and get to know the other dogs and Amanda. Amanda provided us photos and updates throughout Ezzy’s stay. Thank you to Amanda and her family for being wonderful hosts.”

“Rania did a great job watching our dog and sent us updates as well is video. She was accommodating and Namah had a great time in her fenced in back yard. I would recommend her to care for your fury friend and will definitely use her for our future needs.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
