“Sam is a very respectful, honest, and accommodating. He always replies to our inquires in a timely fashion. He notifies us as soon as there is any issue or concern with our dog and offers the best care possible. He sends updates regularly. He optimizes his visits with our pup with long walks and play. I know our dog is in good hands when he is with Sam! I highly recommend.”

“Francise was wonderful with our girl, Winnie! She took wonderful care and provided great updates and photos. “This was my first time using the service and can truly say that I was VERY SATISFIED in choosing Nani. This was Gizmo's first time being boarded at someone's home with other dog friends to play and socialize with. Upon meeting her, Gizmo ran towards her which gave me a warm feeling that he liked her. During the stay, Nani sent me daily updates with photos and videos on how Gizmo was doing and their daily tasks which was heart warming knowing my fur baby was in good hands. I will be using Nani again for future boarding as Gizmo looks forward to more play dates with Mr. Leon and Miss Leah.”

“Yue was very accommodating to my little guy. It was his first time away from home with strangers and she made him feel at ease. He is usually anxious and slow to warm up to new people but when he met Yue I could tell he felt comfortable with her and trusted her immediately. She also kept me updated the entire weekend with pictures, videos and messages on his progress. She took him on walks every morning and made sure he had plenty of food and snacks. It felt as if she wanted to spend time with my dog just to enjoy him not only because it was a service she was providing. She also has a very beautiful and safe home that I knew my dog will be comfortable in.”

“I felt so great having Amanda and her family watching my dog while I was on vacation. They kept me up to date with pics and my dog came home happy and well cared for!”

Nicole has an amazing oasis for dogs and my dogs had a wonderful time staying with her for a week! Lots of great socialization, relaxation, and play time. She gets to know your dogs well and understand their personalities and needs and always keeps you updated with photos and videos. Molly and Winston will be back to Nicole the next time we have a trip. Thanks for taking such great care of our puppies, Nicole!

We had a great experience with Alyssa, and our pup seemed to really enjoy their time together. Alyssa was always great with communication and care, and was extra nice when our doggo developed an ear infection while staying with her - even texting us to see if there was anything that she could do before we got back to pick her up. We would not hesitate to have our dog stay with her again.

They are always so amazing and patient with my baby girl, we have an older dog, so it can be stressful with her medication’s and shes sensitive to noise (boarding was over the Fourth of July) but they were gentle with her, and we knew she was in good hands! Love all of the daily updates with pictures

Joanna was wonderful with our 80lb dog! She sent pictures and messages daily with updates and was quick to respond if I sent her a message. My dog came home happy and tired! Will definitely refer Joanna to our friends and will definitely rebook with her in the future! Thank you!!

Miranda was WONDERFUL with our little floof. Very attentive, communicative, sent updates along with pics, and made him very comfortable and loved through the stay. Even their own cat was a great companion for him since his older sister had to be put down a few months ago. Will 100% rebook!

Sarah was great with Ace and kept me updated throughout the entire weekend. She sent lots of pictures and videos, which I really appreciated and made me feel confident that Ace was happy and well taken care of! I would definitely recommend Sarah and would be happy to book with her again!

Christin watched Felix for the weekend while we were traveling through VA - I am so grateful that I found her! She is a wonderful sitter and I had complete confidence that Felix was being well cared for during his stay with her. I would rebook in a heartbeat if I am ever in the area again!!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
