“Eduardo and his wife had my dog for a night and they were incredibly kind and caring. He started a new medication and didn't react well too it and they kept me fully informed. I would highly recommend Eduardo.”

“Dena truly took care of Tommy as if he were her own. I received daily updates, pictures, and even a video. She is responsive to ask communication. Flexible with the schedule for pick up and drop off. My cat was in wonderful, capable hands the entire time. I'm looking forward to booking her again in the future.”

“Christine was great! She watched my beagle for a long weekend and she was reliable, sent updates, and has a great home for dogs with a nice fenced in yard. I'd definitely bring Serenity back there again.”

“Deborah and Justin took great care of Louis while I was on vacation for Labor Day weekend! I felt very comfortable and knew Louis was being well taken care of and getting lots of attention! Lucky for me, they also live close by so I will definitely be asking them to watch Louis again when I go away! Thank you, Deborah and Justin! 💕”

“Brian K was just great! He was quick to respond, a pleasure to work with, and sent lots of photos of Duke throughout his stay. It was fun to get all those updates and to see Duke looking healthy and happy! We had a great experience with Brian, and would recommend him asa host to anyone. Thanks Brian.”

“Emmanuel has been day boarding my family dog and my mom and sister raved about how amazing he was! So in a hectic situation, he was immediately who I chose. Emmanuel was absolutely incredible - I booked him for a long stay at the very last minute and he was accommodating and kind every step of the way. He gave me lots of daily updates on my pup and he has such an incredible home with a large backyard so pups can run and play :) my pup was so happy to be with Emmanuel and he also is very attentive to each animal in his care. He noticed some hot spots and sent them to me instantly and offered potential solutions. Theo absolutely adores him and I would absolutely book again in a heartbeat! If you want to have peace of mind that your pup is being fully taken care of, loved, and paid attention to, bring them to Emmanuel! Thank you so much, Emmanuel!!!! ❤️❤️❤️”

“Kathleen took such great care of McGee and was great at giving updates throughout the time he stayed with her. I could tell immediately that he was so welcomed in her home. Would love to have him stay with her again😊”

“Melanie and Greg (and their kids) were so great! They took my pup on so many adventures and gave me a full run down of his weekend with them when I got back. They were flexible with a travel delay I experienced and I can’t recommend them enough.”
“What a great experience! This was my first time leaving my baby with someone this long. She made me feel calm and eased his worries! Would definitely use her again!”

“Kael and Juliana were great! They were super attentive and sent lots of videos and updates throughout George’s stay. As a somewhat anxious dog with separation anxiety, I could tell he was having a great time with them and I felt so at ease knowing he was in good, safe hands. I would highly recommend them!”

“I am so pleased with Nani and her services. Bella typically experiences separation anxiety. Nani was so attentive, Bella had no issues adjusting. I will definitely book with Nani again.”

“Megan was awesome. She and her dog took great care of our senior dog, who appreciated an assortment of beds for her various daily naps. Harper had a lovely vacation with lots of play time while we vacationed ourselves.”

Kayla and Adam were wonderful hosts for our little Bonnie! This was Bonnie’s first time staying anywhere without us, but Kayla and Adam obviously love dogs and were simply great with her. Kayla sent reports with pictures several times a day, putting our minds at ease. And the fact that our dog, a very nervous and picky eater, was relaxed enough to eat on her first day told us very clearly that she was doing fine and felt at home with Kayla and her family. Thank you Kayla and Adam - we’ll be back!!

Michelle took excellent care of my Golden Retriever, Joy. From the moment I dropped her off, I knew she was in great hands. Michelle’s two kids gave Joy lots of attention and kept her active and entertained throughout her stay. As an added bonus, her neighbor even brought over another Golden Retriever for playtime—Golden Retriever family reunions are always a blast! I also really appreciated that Michelle never complained about preparing Joy’s raw food diet, which isn’t something every sitter is willing to handle. As a funny note, I honestly started to think Joy was going to stay with Michelle forever because she looked so happy and comfortable there! I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Joy with Michelle again, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and loving dog sitter.

10/10 would ask Brandon to watch my dog again. He was responsive, communicative, and clearly cared about Kitty :). I got photos and videos of him walking with her, napping, and playing with her in the apartment. When my flight was canceled and Kitty had to stay an extra day, Brandon even cooked chicken and rice for her since I hadn’t packed enough food. Highly recommend!

Peaches stayed with Sherry for her very first overnight stay with a “stranger”, and very clearly took to her IMMEDIATELY. Peaches is an outgoing pup, but it still meant the absolute world to see that she was immediately comfortable! We are thrilled to have found Sherry - truly one of the BEST Rover sitters I have ever utilized! She sent frequent updates and pictures, and was just beyond wonderful with our girl.

Katie was an amazing sitter for Bert! I felt so comfortable leaving him in her care. We met before the booking to ensure our dogs would get along. They are both older gents and got along well. She sent lots of pics and follow ups on how Bert was doing. Bert made himself right at home in one of her many dog beds in front of window overlooking the park. I’ve already booked another stay with Katie!

If I wasn’t so excited to finally get home, I would have sat in the parking area to write this review. I can’t say enough great things about the care Jadyn and his wife provided for our dog, Cali, while we were away! Although she has been to a doggie “camp” for boarding and we have had sitters in our home, this was the first time she has stayed in someone else’s home and that created some anxiety for both of us. Not to be worried though - Jadyn and his wife were absolutely wonderful with her and she warmed up to them quickly and easily, no doubt due to the fact that they truly love animals and enjoy taking care of them! I will add that when I returned to pick Cali up, she was of course very excited to see me and pacing around with her bone while whining excitedly, and then she picked a spot on the floor between Jadyn and his wife to settle down while we talked. It was clear that she bonded with them and them with her. They followed instructions that I left about her daily care and were great about sending photos as well. I would recommend Jadyn to others and I will no doubt be reaching out to him for dog care again!

I would highly recommend Keyla. She did an amazing job looking after my dog, Maggie, while I was out of the country for a week. She was incredibly caring and kept me updated with photos and messages from their walks and adventures, which gave me peace of mind. Keyla catered to Maggie’s individual needs throughout the stay, and it was clear that Maggie was very well cared for. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.

Suseth and her partner were great—so understanding and caring with Guri while we were away for the weekend. She even offered to meet beforehand, which gave us extra peace of mind. They took all of Guri’s needs into consideration, kept us updated throughout our trip, and made the whole experience stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for better care!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
