“Jessica has been so helpful checking in on our new puppy every day! She’s friendly, reliable, and communicative, and we always love getting her updates and adorable photos. It gives us peace of mind knowing our puppy is in such good hands!!”

“Carolina was attentive, punctual, communicative, and incredibly in tune with our cats’ needs and personalities. She sent thoughtful updates with lots of photos that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Our apartment was left clean, and our cats were clearly happy, comfortable, and well cared for when we returned. Carolina made our wedding weekend and honeymoon completely stress-free knowing our cats were in such excellent hands. It was obvious she genuinely cared for them like they were her own. We cannot recommend her enough and will absolutely book with her again!”

“Erin is great! She was more than happy to do a meet and great in advance. She followed all our directions and made our puppy feel very comfortable. We will definitely book again with Erin in the future!”

About: I haven taken care of dogs of all sizes, breeds, and ages for nearly 10 years. Growing up the daughter of a veterinarian has allowed me to become expert at administering medication, cleaning up after pets, and conducting their general care. I can take care of puppies/kittens and older pets and pets with disabilities. I work part-time at a restaurant with flexible hours. I am usually available for visits in the morning and evening but am willing to speak individually about what can be worked out between scheduling! I have one cat and one dog with me at home. My lab mix Forrest is 8 years old and my tabby Stalney is 15. They are extremely comfortable and happy. If needed, I can crate your pet for your or their own safety. I am also very comfortable exercising high energy dogs!

“I believe Laura is a pet whisperer!! My frail, geriatric and sometimes cranky Maine Coon cat simply fell in love with her while I was away. The communication and pictures were so very reassuring and I returned to a calm, well loved kitty.”
“Holly was a great dog sitter! She arranged a meet and greet and juniper loved her. Holly was very communicative and always updated me on how Juniper was doing. I’ll definitely book with Holly again!”

About: I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, and I have learned from experience what a dog’s boundaries, needs, and strengths can be! Not to mention, I absolutely love furry friends to hang out and simply enjoy the company with! I can provide an stress-free environment that’s tailored to your pups routine and needs. And, of course, expect daily photo updates of our adventures! I am a full time student, so I specialize in prioritizing my time when I am home to take care of your furry friends. I am not currently taking weekly care clients as I am only available during the summer, schools breaks, and long holidays. I have a fenced front, a back yard, a lovely, patient dog, plenty of space, and a dog bed for your pup to sleep comfortably in in case of sleepovers. I love walking, especially with some company, and I love to prioritize a dogs needs and offer them whatever level of love they need to feel comforted!
“Adriana was fantastic! She truly went above and beyond, she made us feel so relaxed while we were out of town. You could see the joy on our dog’s face in every picture she sent! Will definitely use her again and would recommend to anyone in the area.”

“First time using rover, and found Johnny. He was wonderful, and my 5 month old German shepherd x malinoi absolutely adored him, Johnny was a good listener and has such good patience. I would definitely recommend him especially for those with high energy puppies or breeds. I know my puppy had such a good time with him with all the photos i received.”

“I have had Rachel drop in on Emmy multiple times now and is my go to for looking after her when I'm gone. She is responsible, timely and professional. Very easy to communicate with and flexible. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for drop-in help!”

“Eva took great care of my little furry boy! I would definitely use her services again. She is timely and responsible, and I never had any reservations during my time away.”

“Cynthia did a wonderful job taking care of our cat while we were out of the country for a week. She was flexible to meet up beforehand, thorough, and gave great updates throughout the week. I will definitely book her again!”

About: I own a 4 year old rescue named Cody who is the medium white and black dog in my pictures! He is a cuddle bug and loves to be near his humans. Cody is a calming presence for other dogs that I dog sit, and at the same time he loves to play. He is truly a very good boy and loves spending time with other dogs. He is leash trained, and we use a harness. I exclusively use positive reinforcement, and I never use punishment such as the prong collar, electric collar, or anything of that nature. When I dog sit for other families, I love to send their humans updates with pictures, food status, and health updates every day. I have experience taking care of elderly dogs and giving pill-based medicine, and Cody lives part time with a 12 year old rescue. In one of my jobs post-college, I worked as a dog daycare attendant, and in this capacity, I supervised, walked, fed, and bathed all kinds of dogs. I work full time as a school counselor, and in the summer I have a ton of availability to take care of your dog especially for longer trips. I have a great walkable neighborhood and live in a one-bedroom apartment with Cody. I love having pets in the bed and on the couch and taking them for 2 walks a day, weather-permitting. If your dog’s safe space is their crate, I am happy to use it and provide some comfort to your dog when they will be in a new environment. I am covered in dog hair all the time, so I am dog shed friendly, and vacuum at least once weekly, sometimes more!
About: I've worked for a dog walking company walking dogs and taking care of cats. I've also house sat pets in several homes, taking care of large and small dogs and cats. I also had a cat of my own I dearly loved. Note: I cannot take care of pitbulls or pitbull hybrids. I am available for drop-in cat visits at this time. I have a cat of my own and have owned multiple cats all my life. I follow the client's orders regarding feeding and care. I monitor my own pets for any changes in behavior, food intake and litter box usage.
“I am so happy we found Sarah! She’s very communicative, and provides excellent care…letting owners know exactly what she’s doing…and she takes great pictures! She went above and beyond what was asked, and I truly felt my pup was in the best care possible. Would recommend to anyone, and we will certainly be booking her again!”

About: I have had animals my whole life including bunnies, dogs, lizards, and Guinea pigs. I have also been taking care of other peoples pets such as cats. I am used to walking dogs 3 times a day and have plenty of experience with dogs that have difficulty walking or even need to walk a long time. I care for animals about 3 times a week for clients but have my own dog back home who I cared for full time. I prefer to care for animals in their owners home.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Alexandria
Delighted at this first visit with Christine after our meet & greet going so lovingly! Especially grateful for Christine's experience with dogs who have various boundary preferences to work her way into Roc's heart gradually, watching for his cues (without LOOKING at him!).

Nani was absolutely wonderful with my precious Mila!! I had to travel for work for two weeks and it was my first time leaving her in someone else’s care for more than a few hours. Needless to say, I was a concerned dog mom. Meeting Nani immediately put my mind at ease! She was friendly, warm, caring and professional. She made me feel so comfortable leaving my pet in her hands. She came to my home to check on and walk my pet everyday. And gave daily updates as well that kept my mind at ease in knowing how Mila was doing while I was gone. When I returned home, Mila was the same happy, sweet and playful girl she was when I left so I know Nani took great care of her. My neighbors even bragged on how great of a job they saw Nani doing with my Mila! I highly recommend her!

Erin has been absolutely amazing with my puppy, Sienna! She genuinely loves and cares for her as if she were her own, and that gives me so much peace of mind while I’m at work. She always provides thoughtful updates with photos and pays close attention to the little things. That level of attentiveness means so much to me. Erin also goes above and beyond by reinforcing Sienna’s training and routines during her visits, which has been incredibly helpful as we’re working on potty training and building good habits. She is reliable, compassionate, and truly invested in my puppy’s wellbeing. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for someone who will treat their pet like family.

We had such a wonderful experience with Andrea! She was incredibly responsive and came through for us when we were in a bind and needed a last-minute booking after our original sitter became unavailable. From the very beginning, communication was excellent. She answered our questions quickly, kept us updated throughout each visit, and always sent plenty of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She and her partner were always on time and made sure Azumi was not only well cared for, but also received lots of love, attention, and playtime. It was obvious from the photos and updates that they genuinely enjoyed spending time with her, and Azumi was always so excited to see them. Finding someone you trust with your dog isn’t easy, and we’re so grateful we found Andrea. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and communicative sitter. Thank you both for taking such great care of our girl!

Jeana did a fantastic job with our 2 pups! She arrived for drop-ins on time, played with them and took awesome photos of them! We’re so grateful we could rely on her while out of town and appreciated the updates! Thank you Jeana- will definitely book with you in the future!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Alexandria with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.
