“Grateful to Terez for her cat sitting services! We have a shy cat that likes to hide from sitters. It was no biggie for Terez, she's a pro. She feed Bandit and cleaned the litter box, brought in mail and communicated each day. Will book again, thanks!”

About: I have always been around dogs and absolutely love pet sitting for friends and family! Whether it’s providing a high-energy playtime session or just hanging out and keeping them company, I treat every single pet as if they were my own. Right now, my schedule is incredibly open and flexible, giving me plenty of time to dedicate to your furry family members. I can accommodate your routine, whether your pet needs midday check-ins, long walks, or a dedicated house sitter. I take pride in keeping your home clean, secure, and organized while ensuring your pet receives all the attention, love, and structure routine they need to feel comfortable while missing you. I also know how reassuring it is to see how your pet is doing while you’re away, so you can expect plenty of photo updates. I just relocated to the Alexandria/Del Ray area to start my next job, which means I have nothing but free time! No matter what service you need, I am super flexible any day, at any time to fit seamlessly into your pets normal routine. Whether I’m sitting in your home or out on a walk, I treat your space and your pup with the utmost respect and caution. I always maintain a secure, hazard-free environment, strictly follow your established house rules and feeding/medication instructions, and keep your dogs safely leashed on walks. You can rest easy knowing your home and pet are safely taken care of.

“Caroline is great! She was able to work with my dates for a holiday booking which was amazing. Very easy to talk to and provided great care when dropping in. She sent me very cute pictures and provided descriptive report cards. I will definitely book again for my next vacation. Thank you Caroline!”

“Abbey did a wonderful job taking care of Luna during her drop-in visit. She was reliable and kept me updated, which gave me peace of mind. Excellent communication; I would rebook her again.”

About: I have two elderly dogs which I have raised and trained since they were puppies. I’ve watched as they learned how to sit, stay, and even roll over and eventually eased into the life of a senior dog and moving at their pace alongside them I’m currently working part time and am a part time student so my schedule will largely depend on my weekly availability. Routine sitting which last longer than a week may be difficult but I’ll do my best to fit dog walking and sitting into my schedule I like to stick to a routine someone maintains in their home, keeping the pet comfortable, and the owner’s trust intact, believe I treat others homes with the most respect and care!
“Laura & Simon were so amazing! They came through on a very short notice request and took amazing care of our pup! I truly appreciate their communication and all the updates along the way. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a Rover in the Alexandria area.”

About: I've worked for a dog walking company walking dogs and taking care of cats. I've also house sat pets in several homes, taking care of large and small dogs and cats. I also had a cat of my own I dearly loved. Note: I cannot take care of pitbulls or pitbull hybrids. I am available for drop-in cat visits at this time. I have a cat of my own and have owned multiple cats all my life. I follow the client's orders regarding feeding and care. I monitor my own pets for any changes in behavior, food intake and litter box usage.
“Erin has been an incredible sitter for my puppy, Sienna! She is kind, dependable, and has such a calming presence. It was obvious from the start that she truly cares about the dogs she looks after. She took her time with Sienna, was incredibly patient, and always kept me updated with thoughtful messages and adorable photos. Knowing Sienna was with someone so attentive made returning to work so much easier. She was punctual, communicative, and went above and beyond by sending frequent updates and photos after each visit. Her genuine compassion, patience, and enthusiasm for dogs really stand out. I’m so grateful to have found someone I completely trust with my puppy, I would happily book Erin again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter.”

“Mandy was wonderful! She took great care of my dog and cat, was very communicative, and made me feel very comfortable leaving them in her care! I would definitely recommend Mandy to anyone!”

“Sophia was great to work with! She was willing to accommodate my request with short notice and was flexible when I needed to modify plans. She was very communicative and sent photo updates. She gave great attention and care to my two pets. They were immediately comfortable with her. I will definitely book her again!”

“It has been so great having Allison to drop in on our dogs during the day! She is consistent and communicative. It definitely is a weight off our shoulders knowing the dogs get some play time while we are at work.”

“Cait was perfect for a quick drop in on short notice! Lifesaver! Our Blink cam caught her giving hugs and kisses to our littlest pup which was just the best. Thanks, Cait!”

About: Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for pets as both an owner and sitter. I’ve worked with dogs and cats. Whether it’s a playful walk, quiet cuddle, or ensuring they stick to their routine, I’m committed to creating a safe, loving environment where pets feel happy, healthy, and well cared for! As a newly separated veteran preparing to start school, I have plenty of time and flexibility in my schedule to dedicate to caring for pets. I provide personalized attention, including feeding, walking, administering medications if needed, and plenty of playtime and affection. I also keep the home tidy and secure, treating it with the same care and respect as I do the pets.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
