“mounia is amazing! she’s very responsive and communicative. she’s also been going above and beyond and doing a bit of of training with my dog, which is much appreciated. not to mention, the pictures she sends are so good and high quality!”

About: I have dogs and cats, and experience with all types from high energy to seniors! My sweet Australian cattle dog was reactive and high-energy, so I am familiar with training and walking those types of smart dogs. I also have a soft spot for seniors who want to move at their own pace and just want love and attention. I want to help make your life easier and make sure your pets are happy while you're away, I know how much that peace of mind matters when you're away from your babies! I work remote from home so my schedule is pretty flexible! I may have meetings during the week that I can't move, but if time off day for drop-ins or walks is flexible on your side, I can find a time that works. I'd prefer to always do a meet and greet first to know where everything is if I need it -- from leashes and toys to cleaning supplies and emergency contact and vet numbers.

About: I have grown up with multiple dogs and cats! I have house sat for families with over 4 pets and currently have my own cat. Through my jobs I have taken care of large and small dogs, main coon cats, small cats, and kittens/puppies. I also have lots of experience with horses, donkeys, and barn cats. I am currently in graduate school at GW, my classes are some evenings so I have lots of time during the day and night to take care of your pets! I will ensure that your pets will get lots of attention and make sure their needs are met. I am more than happy to play with your pets in your yard or public parks, take them on walks, and play with them inside!!
“Carolina has been walking our pup for a little over a month now and she’s been great! She’s very responsive and always leaves our pup with a treat at the end of their walk. She also takes him on long, quality walks which we know he loves. Highly recommend Carolina!”

“Erin was fantastic with Mackey! She is obviously very knowledgeable about dogs and she made sure she understood Mackey’s personality and needs to make her walks the best experience. I’ve already booked her for more walks with my pup!”

“One of the best dog walkers! Autumn was great with my senior dog. She provides helpful notes for each visit, such as he had some water after the walk or enjoyed the extra belly rubs. Highly recommend for all dogs, but recommend Autumn if you have an older dog. She will provide them with lots of love and attention!”

About: I've been a long-time cat-person who also has experience adopting a rescue dog and raising her from her puppy years to old age - I'm knowledgeable about training, medication administration, and handling reactive or nervous pets. I've been a pet sitter and house sitter for many years, and would love to support you and your family in your pet care needs. I'm an academic librarian new to NOVA with work from home flexibility. Over the month of December, I have extended time off for the holidays and will be staying in the area. I've been a pet and house sitter and feel confident about coming to your space and paying attention to the details that matter to keep your pet healthy, happy, and safe. I live in an apartment complex and have a cat myself, which I imagine folks will take into consideration in case they want to leave their pet with me.
“Amanda has been a great addition to Ducky’s daily routine since I’ve had to start going back to the office. She now looks forward to every walk! Amanda is also an excellent communicator and keeps me updated which I appreciate while being newly away from my dog!”
About: I have a flexible schedule working from home, so I can give your cats the time and attention they deserve. I’m reliable and professional and will ensure your cats are well cared for. I will treat your home with care and respect when I come to care for your cats. I can be trusted to follow instructions, communicate clearly, and take good care of your place. I’m also happy to bring in mail/newspapers, water plants, or take care of any other little task that needs doing.
About: I’ve taken care of and lived with dogs for my entire life, including training multiple puppies (potty training and tricks). I bond quickly and easily with most dogs. I have cared for dogs ranging in size from Yorkies to Saint Bernards. I am currently waiting for the start date for my new job as a nurse practitioner, so my schedule is open daily for pet care. I have a fenced backyard, a walkable neighborhood, and ample indoor room for pets to roam. I am flexible and prepared to care for pets in their own home setting as well.
“Cait took such great care of my dog, Zelda. I had long work hours and I felt relieved knowing Zelda was getting great mental and physical exercise with Cait! She provided thoughtful updates and checked in on any additional needs for my pup. I can't thank her enough!”

“Very responsive and reliable! I requested a last minute booking after my normal dog walker had to cancel and she responded right away. Very good communication and was so great with my dog!”

“Nathan has been walking my dog, Obi, consistently 3 days per week for two weeks and has done a great job! He was patient with my initially skeptical dog and Obi has come to trust him and enjoys their walks! I recommend Nathan's services if you are looking for a dog walker or other support with your dog.”

“Sarah was great - was able to walk the doodles last minute, super communicative and thorough. Would absolutely book her again and highly recommend for your furry friend as well!”
“Hilary was great with our pug! She was reliable and provided updates and was even able to get our girl back in her crate after her walk, when she can be a bit stubborn. She was communicative and made booking and everything easy! Will definitely book Hilary again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Alexandria
She was amazing! She came to help us out in a pinch, and I’m so grateful she was available. She was on time, followed all of my instructions, communicated really well, and kept me updated. She was super helpful and took great care of my dog. When I got home from work, he was happy and TIRED in the best way, so I know he got a great walk in! I would absolutely recommend her and will definitely use her again!

Autumn was great with Cooper! He looked forward to her walks every day and she took amazing care of him and our home. We appreciated how attentive she was to Cooper and it was clear how much she cared about him and made sure that he was happy and communicated with us clearly each day. We will always reach out to Autumn first when we need a walker/sitter!

Ann is fantastic! Not only is she wonderful with my dog, Debbie, she is very communicative and reliable. When Debbie was sick, Ann checked in to see how she was doing, and even alerted me to some of the early symptoms. I am incredibly grateful to know that my dog is in such caring hands!

Kaitlyn is amazing! My first time booking with Rover was with Kaitlyn and she really made a great impression. She was very flexible with adding on walks, meeting with me and pup prior to my trip, and she went above and beyond helping with giving my cat her meds as well! My pets absolutely love her and I’m so grateful for her assistance while I was gone. I definitely recommend!

Kadyah was wonderful with Dakota! This was our first time booking with her, and she was communicative, reliable, and took great care of her. I felt completely comfortable knowing Dakota was in good hands, and she seemed so happy with her. I would absolutely book with Kadyah again and highly recommend her!

Zeynep is incredibly reliable. We had a big moment in our family and needed someone to care for our dog twice in one day, so we could be present for a several hour ceremony. I knew immediately that Zeynep was the person we wanted to take care of Emmy on that day. She always shows up and takes such loving care with Emmy.

Christine did a great job on pretty short notice. She followed our instructions well and -- most importantly -- read Obi's body language and demeanor to make sure he had a productive outing while not pushing it in the heat. He was very happy when we got home, and it was clear he had a wonderful visit from Christine, who gave him some additional attention in the house since the weather outside was not ideal for a longer outing. Definitely hope to use Christine again in the future and would recommend her for others!

Nele gave my doggies their walkies again. This time she also had to deal with a senior dog with potty opportunities and handled it with grace. But more than that she gives the doggies lots of cuddles and takes the best pictures! I will definitely ask Nelly for walkies and cuddles for the doggies during my next vacation.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
