“My pup had a great time at Russ's house! She came back super tired from playing with the other dogs. Russ sent me several updates throughout the day, which I really loved. Drop off and pick up was super easy- I will be using Russ again!”

“Erin has been watching my little Obi on a weekly recurring basis for the last couple months. Obi is so excited when he sees me grab his bag. When I drop him off I feel like he is with someone who will love him as I would. She is excellent at sharing his day after each visit as well as pics. It is so comforting to know he is with Erin when I have to go into the office. I don’t worry about Obi because he is in great hands.”

“I have used the services of Gabriela both for boarding & day care. She is exceptional & I highly recommend her to anyone who would like their pet to be cared for. My bichon Mila loves her.”

“Kristen watched over my Husky for the day and my fur-baby had a wonderful experience! Kristen was very quick with communication and shared photos during the day, providing check-ins which were very helpful. She was also flexible on pick up time which made a big difference for my commute. Already booked her again!”

“Hyunbang and Love are the best!! Dora who is usually shy 🙈 got comfortable quickly and Dora did not seem ready to leave when I came to pick her up. I got SO many photos throughout the day and I know Dora can’t wait to go back. Thank you again!!”

About: I grew up in a home with dogs. And most recently, had a fur baby of our own for 12 years. I work from home so that I will be able to give your fur baby the attention they need and deserve. I provide attentive, personalized care which is shaped by more than 12 years of being a dog owner. I typically work from home (during the week), so I am available to provide many potty breaks and to give them attention that they want/need. On the weekends, I typically at home - so your fur baby will receive a lot of attention and care. Hope to hear from you! I live in a single-family home with a yard in a dog-friendly community with walking trails and grassy areas. Your fur baby will feel right at home! Your fur baby's typical day will be a long walk in the morning, 2-3 afternoon walks and a long walk in the evening. I love being outdoors so if that is what your fur baby enjoys, we will definitely have outdoor time!
“Sweta was Simply AMAZING!!! She took such good care of my Baby Girl! My Baby is old and she gave her excellent care!! She sent adorable photos and kept me updated throughout Gizzie’s stay. She accepted out request for daycare so fast and was excellent with communication. I HIGHLY Recommend her!!! I will definitely reach out to her first of we are in the area again!! Thank U Sweta!”
“Rebecca is great. She has a great spirit, is super kind and thoughtful regarding care for my dog. As long as she will have him, Biscuit will be a regular! Thanks Rebecca!”

“We recently used Tatiana on a trip to Alexandria where she cared for our dog in her home. What makes her unique and special is she only cares for one dog at a time providing undivided attention. Our dog spent a wonderful day under her care. We would definitely recommend and use her again.”

“My pup and I are regular clients of Miguelina’s. She and her family are wonderful! They’re always willing to care for my dog (even on super short notice!), are super flexible, and take excellent care of him. I cannot recommend her enough! She’s great!”

“Melissa was great! She was flexible with my schedule and was very accommodating to my Willie's fear of steps and hip/joint struggles. She was even able to calm him enough to get him to go up the stairs. Highly recommend her.”

About: Growing up with 2 dogs and a cat was a dream and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I come from a long line of dog lovers and whether it is friend, neighbor or family member, I am the go-to pet sitter. A role that I absolutely LOVE. As I am older now, this is my first time being pet free in a home and I am looking for furry friends I can hang out with from time to time. I currently have ample time and flexibility to dedicate to walks, drop-in visits, overnight care or anything else I can do to help support your pet 🤍 Of course every pet will be different and I am open and excepting to that fact. Do they prefer longer walks, shorter walks? No problem. Do they prefer to have the TV left on when they are alone? No worries. You just let me know what your fur baby likes best and I will accommodate to that :)
“Viviana was great, had flexible timing and was very easily accessible to speak throughout the day along with sending the occasional photo. Pick up and drop off was also very easy can convenient.”
“Adriana has been an amazing sitter for Rosie! Rosie is always excited to see her, which gives me peace of mind whenever I leave her in Adriana’s care. She is responsible, reliable, and incredibly accommodating, and I always know Rosie will be well cared for. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and dependable pet sitter.”

About: I’ve been an animal lover since I was 2 years old. I’ve had parrots, dogs, cats, and turtles throughout my life. I’ve trained my cats basics like high-fiving and bowing. I’m currently a work from home mom, while my daughter goes to daycare throughout the day. I’ll be happy and have full time to take care your loved ones. We have three floors that animals are free to run around, plus some delicious dog and cat treats. We only take one pet at a time, so I can make sure your loved one is well taken care of. Our neighborhood is very dog friendly, and has a dog park where they can run around freely.

Marley had such a great time with Hyunbang and Love! I'm nervous every time I leave her since Marley is an anxious girl, but Hyunbang's calming presence and regular communication put me completely at ease. I loved the constant updates and adorable photos throughout the day. My girl clearly had a blast! We have boarding booked with her in a few weeks, and I am relieved to know Marley will be in such good hands.

I needed to find a sitter while traveling to VA for the 4th of July - Christin is a wonderful communicator, and even without the opportunity for a meet and greet I felt very at ease about having Felix stay with her. She was very understanding and flexible with my fluctuating schedule, she and her husband were both very helpful in making Felix feel comfortable when we first arrived, and I had total confidence that he would be well cared for during his stay with her (and he was 😊)!!

They made Chance and Po feel so at home. Both the home and back yard (fully fenced in) are clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Anya was very welcoming of both of them, and somehow both Sarah and her husband made our incredibly shy dog feel comfortable enough to ask for pets, which absolutely never happens. 10/10
Paula was an exceptional rover! I had a last minute daycare request the evening prior and she accommodated for an early drop off. She gave my dog tons of exercise throughout the day which Miley loves, sent pics, and even gave fitness stats of the walks. My dog seemed content and received a take home treat when i picked her up. I recommend her to anyone in need of a sitter!

Carolina was so sweet and accommodating!! She had to be ready to receive my pups at 6 am, which is so early and had them for a very long day! I felt relieved knowing that my pups were in good hands. Suki is quite hyper when she first arrives to a new place and Carolina was so patient with her, a true dog lover!!

Jona was amazing with Caruso who is a very shy dog and has separation anxiety. She made him feel very comfortable within a few minutes of our arrival and he responded to her quickly. He usually backs away from strangers and hides behind me but she was able to establish a rapport with him quickly by sitting on the floor and talking to him until he became comfortable enough to let her pet him.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
