“I really don’t trust any dog sitter like I trust Ray to take care of our dog. He’s a great boy, but doesn’t want pets and snuggles all the time and Ray is happy to let him just be him. It’s actually so hard to find! Ray left our house clean and well looked after. Will definitely keep going back to Ray!”

“Hannah was absolutely incredible! She really went above and beyond & I’ll definitely be rebooking with her in the future. She took such amazing care of our pets and house. She sent updates whenever I requested. She was a pleasure to work with.”
“Dana is an amazing sitter. She provided updates throughout the day which was nice to see how our jeter was doing. She made sure he was exercised even in rainy weather. Definitely would recommend and will hire again in the future.”

“Yocelyn obviously loves dogs, and my very anxious pocket bully fell in love with her immediately. Yocelyn has a relaxed feel to her, which was good for my dog, and she was also careful to give Farah her numerous supplements. She left the house as she found it and was responsive about letting us know how Farah was doing. Highly recommend!”

“AMAZING sitter! We had Jenny watch our pets for a week while we were out on vacation. I left care instructions and she followed them to the teeth! One of our dogs got sick and Jenny took the steps to make sure both her and the house were taken care of. Would hire her again for sure!”
“Upon meeting Hieu and Anna we noticed how gentle , empathetic, and patient they were with our Cavalier Spaniels Arthur and Henry. They listened to our concerns and instructions with interest, & asked many questions about the boys needs, which made us feel comfortable. Our boys became cozy with them quickly , which was a great sign. Hieu and Anna took them on many long walks, accommodated the pups quirky needs, and gave them tons of love during our time away. As we asked for in home boarding they were able to come to our place to stay which made the boys feel more comfortable as they could stick to their routine. They updated us with regular photos which was so helpful. Hieu & Anna kept the place so clean and even left a sweet Polaroid photo of our pups when they left. We will definitely be using them again in the future and highly recommend their services.”

“Jeannie is wonderful! She provided such great care for my fur babies while I was going through a difficult time and put me at ease while I was nervous of leaving my pups. She provided such great updates with pictures and videos reassuring me they were getting plenty of love and attention. Jeannie also went the extra mile to go to the store and get my dogs pumpkin and rice when they had an upset stomach. I highly recommend Jeannie and will continue to book with her because I am at ease when having to travel without my fur babies. Thank you Jeannie for your excellent care and communication”

“Elvia was wonderful! Super communicative and took great care of Dakota and Dexter. We really appreciated the updates and would definitely book again! 🐾”

“Tatiana was amazing with our pup! She stayed in our home for a quick weekend away and it didn’t even look like our pup missed us! She sent lots of updates and even helped us out when our flight was cancelled heading home and we had to book a later flight. Our dog loves to snuggle and play endlessly and Tatiana was a great fit for our girl!”

“Zach was really kind and flexible. We knew our pups liked him right away by them immediately bringing toys to him to play, they don't always do that. Thank you Zach, you really put us at ease knowing that our pups were in good hands.”

“Lana took wonderful care of our three cats. All of them absolutely loved her and she was great at communicating with us and sent lots of pictures throughout the stay. She was also an amazing houseguest and went totally above and beyond by taking great care of our place. We felt so comfortable with her taking care of our babies while she was away and would definitely recommend her.”

“My dog, Chloe, felt right at home with Kelley. Kelley was very communicative and sent fun pictures and videos of my happy dog :) She also followed instructions and was very responsible. I definitely recommend hiring her to take care of your furry friend!”

“We booked Joshua pretty last minute to house/dog sit for us over Christmas week, and we could not have asked for a better experience. He took exceptional care of our dog, Haru... sending tons of photos and updates throughout the day, every single day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear Haru was truly loved and well cared for. On top of that, we came home to a spotless house. He vacuumed, stripped the bed, and cleaned the counters -- such a thoughtful and appreciated touch after traveling. We would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a sitter who will treat your dog (and your home) with care, attention, and kindness.”

“It’s not easy to leave your pups behind, but knowing they were being so well taken care of made all the difference. Highly recommend Scotty — we’ll definitely be booking again!”

“Fantastic dog sitter! Great communication, reliable, and very caring. Our dogs were happy and well taken care of, and we loved receiving updates while we were away. Highly recommend and will definitely use their services again! Thank you Deloris!”

Lana was absolutely FANTASTIC with my 4yo bulldog. She did a wonderful job looking after him, sending me great photos and videos, and I could tell she genuinely loves animals. She housesat as well, and left the place perfectly clean, even running her bedding through the washer and dryer! She also gave me good behavior status reports, and some extra tips for how to handle my dog’s overexcitement during first meetings. I am already trying to see when I can go away again whenever Lana is free, as it’s one less stress to know my sweet dog is in her capable care :)

We’ve relied on Joanna many times now to care for our dog and cat, and having someone we trust this much makes being away so much easier. She’s attentive to their individual needs and always reaches out when there’s a detail I’ve missed or something worth clarifying. We have so much peace of mind knowing they’re in her care 🤗

Rai is absolutely phenomenal—hands down the best Rover sitter we’ve ever had! This was Bella Pauline’s second stay with her, and Rai cared for our medication-needing, love-demanding girl as if she were her own. We received plenty of wonderful photo updates, so it was clear Bella was happy, comfortable, and thoroughly spoiled. Rai also left our home spotless, washed the linens, and somehow added an extra cherry on top: Bella was gifted a delicious homemade treat and a new toy. Bella may now think Rai runs a five-star dog resort, complete with room service. We are incredibly grateful and would recommend Rai without hesitation. She is caring, reliable, thoughtful, and truly exceptional!!

Jackie always does *such* an amazing job taking care of my two dogs and [very old] cat when I am out of town. She is reliable and communicative. She is able to handle any special requests with ease and I love that I have found someone who I can leave my babies with and know with certainty that they are in good hands.

I'm so happy to find McKenna. I had a last-minute overnight trip and needed someone to stay with my dog. Several days before the trip, she came over and got to know my dog and the house, and we decided to move forward. Everything worked out amazing. She left the house in pristine condition and my dog was very calm when I got home. She gave great updates and I will definitely use her again in the future..

Hieu and Anna are AMAZING! I felt so completely comfortable, leaving them with my fur babies and leaving my Home entrusted to their care. They are wonderfully responsible, kind, and reliable. They sent daily updates and pictures of our pet’s antics. I can’t wait until we can rebook them again for our out of town visits.

Scotty did a great job caring for our larger dogs! Before house sitting, he came over for a meet and greet and asked thoughtful questions about their care instructions. Our dogs were happy and healthy when we got back. Looking forward to working with Scotty again in the future!

Having Haley watch my cat, Q'Raka, was was a great experience. She was responsive and provided great updates while checking in on kitty. She was also attentive to care instructions and bonded quickly with my little girl making her feel loved while I was away. I recommed her and plan on reaching out to her again if I need to have a sitter for Q'Raka.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Franconia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Franconia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Franconia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
