“Deloris did an amazing job house sitting and taking care of Holly! From the start, communication was great, and we felt completely at ease leaving Holly (and our home) in her care. She kept us updated with regular check-ins and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away.”

“Erica did such a wonderful job taking care of my pup. She left the house just as it was and took my pup for several walks. All instructions given were done and my pup was so happy in her care. Would definitely book her again next time I need someone.”

“Ian is an amazing pet sitter. We are a high maintenance family. One senior dog who needs special care and round the clock medicine and one 200 lb Saint Bernard who is a bit of a diva. This was the first time we have been able to go away in a long time and have complete peace of mind. Thank you, Ian.”

“Holly is a brilliant sitter! Looked after my dog like she was her own, plenty of updates throughout my time away, and left the house neat and tidy. Thanks Holly!”

“Michaela really helped out and was able to come dog sit for an entire afternoon on very short notice. She went above and beyond on communication and was easy and pleasant to deal with. She made sure Edgar was comfortable and had bathroom breaks, food, and water as needed. Definitely will rebook.”

“Jessica did a great job! She and Ernie stayed at our place and watched our dog. She was extremely communicative throughout our stay which was reassuring. She left our place better than she found it.”

About: I've loved and cared for animals for as long as I can remember. From ages 10 to 18, I lived in a home with multiple pets, including dogs, cats, and birds of all ages. My responsibilities included walking, feeding, playing, administering medication, and providing daily care to ensure they were happy and healthy. Today, I have my own dog, Loki, who has been part of my family for the past three years. I believe pets are family, and I treat every animal with the same compassion, patience, and love that I give my own. My goal is to provide a safe, caring, and dependable experience so you can have peace of mind while your furry family member is in my care. I'm available weekdays from 9 AM–9 PM and weekends from 10 AM–8 PM. Since I have a dog at home, I provide attentive care in your pet's familiar environment. I provide respectful, loving care in your pet's familiar environment, following their routine and treating them with the same attention and compassion I give my own dog. I am very comfortable with taking them on walks within your residential area.
“Thank you for taking such great care of my fur babies while I was away! Jeannie is amazing and provided phenomenal communication and pictures making me feel at ease that they were in great hands! Definitely will rebook”

“Orianne is the best! She is so sweet, caring, calm. Madeline was comforted while we were out, which means the world to us. Madeline was happy to see us, and we could tell she was relaxed. Orianne will be our first call should we need a pet sitter again!”

“Yocelyn took excellent care of my pets for a long weekend. She left the house tidy and it was so nice coming home to happy dogs and a clean home. She was communicative and sent plenty of photos. I would recommend her for your petsitting needs!”

“Lindsey was a great communicator, respectful of our home, and handled our fur babies well. She kept us informed of issues while we were away and was also responsive with any questions or concerns we had. We'd hire her again and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a responsible and caring dog sitter. Thank you Lindsey!”

“Andrea was very professional and also clearly likes animals. She was very clear with me about what she would do and when. I would hire her again. Great job!”
About: Over the past 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for pets as both an owner and sitter. I’ve worked with dogs and cats. Along the way, I’ve developed special skills like administering medications, handling pets with specific dietary requirements, and providing comfort to those with anxiety or medical conditions. Whether it’s a playful walk, quiet cuddle, or ensuring they stick to their routine, I’m committed to creating a safe, loving environment where pets feel happy, healthy, and well cared for! As a newly separated veteran preparing to start school, I have plenty of time and flexibility in my schedule to dedicate to caring for pets. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I prioritize maintaining their routines and ensuring they feel safe and comfortable in their familiar environment. I provide personalized attention, including feeding, walking, administering medications if needed, and plenty of playtime and affection. I also keep the home tidy and secure, treating it with the same care and respect as I do the pets.
“John is a rockstar. He stepped in for us in a moment’s notice to take care of our dog, Adam. He went above and beyond to be with our pup and help maintain his routine in our home. Anyone would be lucky to welcome John into their home to spend time with their fur babies. I know Adam is looking forward to hanging out with John again the next time we need a sitter.”

“Laurie is an excellent job taking care of Copper. She was extremely responsive and flexible. She did a fantastic job handling my dog’s reactivity and left my apartment clean. Highly recommend Laurie’s services!”

You can tell Kadyah has a true love for dogs by the care she gives them. I had her house sit my puppy and literally had so much peace of mind due to her frequent check in and updates on how he was doing. I highly recommend anyone to book with her. She did a fantastic job with meeting the many needs my puppy had. Will definitely be booking again!

Dena was incredible! She took care of my little kitty so well. I usually feel anxious leaving my kitty alone but Dena honestly did such a great job at checking in and making me feel comfortable that I was able to relax during my trip. She also cleaned before she left allowing me to come home to a relaxing space. 11 out of 10 recommend her. Dena’s husband Jo is also great with animals; I approved him to visit during her stay and play with my cat and he was super sweet with my kitty.

Laurie took such great care of Marcus, kept him company and made sure he was entertained and exercised while I was out of town. She sent thorough daily updates with pictures and video. I returned home to a happy puppy exhausted and ready for a full night of sleep!

We’ve had the pleasure of having Ian care for our dogs once again, and as always, we couldn’t be happier. Ian is reliable, caring, and clearly loves animals. We especially appreciate that he goes the extra mile—not only taking great care of the boys but also cleaning up the yard after them. It’s such a thoughtful extra touch and makes coming home so much easier. We highly recommend Ian and will definitely be using him in the future!

David was so great with our very (very!) slow to warm up dog Snickers. He gave him all the time he needed to get comfortable (snicker’s friendship will not be rushed!!! 😂) and by the end they were going on long walks. David may have even taken better care of Snickers than we do!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Huntington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Huntington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Huntington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Huntington. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
