“Cassie was so wonderful to work with! She was excellent with our dog who is extremely wary of strangers- he takes a long time to warm up and she was totally patient and won him over which is no easy task! She sent us photos and updates everyday. I would absolutely recommend her.”

“Shennan was very responsive and attentive! She loved my two doggies and kept them company. Shennan was very respectful of my space and kept things tidy. Watson and Patty loved her!”

“Elyse did a great job caring for our very young, 1-year old lab. It was the first time the pup was left alone and she was a nervous wreck. Elyse walked her, played with her, and calmed her with loving care. Can’t thank Elyse enough !”

“I couldn't be happier with the care my dogs received from Ian. They absolutely love him! He went above and beyond, taking them on walks and spending quality time with them throughout the day. My dogs are a bit spoiled, and he handled them with so much patience and affection, making sure they felt comfortable and loved. I highly recommend him and will definitely be using his services again in the future. Thanks for everything!”

“Lindsey was a wonderful companion for our very particular dog Kona. Her calm demeanor is fantastic! Lindsey took great care of both Kona and our house. I highly recommend her services.”

About: I’ve cared for both cats and dogs since I was very young. Through my former work at a local animal shelter, I gained valuable experience with pets of all species, ages, sizes, and needs. My days are very flexible, so I’m easily able to fit in visits at most times throughout the day. If we schedule recurring visits, I prefer they mostly stay at the same times from week to week. At this time, I am only able to care for your pet in your own home. If you have any questions about my services, please message me. I will do everything possible to accommodate the individual needs of your dog or cat.
“Carly was great. She stayed in our home for week and took care of our pup. She kept us updated throughout the booking. Our pup was happy and well taken care of when we returned. We would recommend Carly and will be booking with her again!”

“Alexis is your one-stop-shop for pet needs. Our dog Nala needed a sitter relatively last minute and Alexis was there for us. She is attentive, engaged, and shows the utmost care and respect. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Alexis provides the gold standard of care and you and your furry friend can rest assured your experience will be nothing but amazing”

“I booked Michaela for the weekend to housesit and stay with my dog. My dog can be reactive with other dogs, so I’m always nervous to leave her with new people. She did great with Michaela! Additionally, my flight back got canceled, and Michaela stayed overnight again and then my second flight got very delayed and Michaela was very nice to extend her stay and stay with my dog a little longer. Ensure she had gone potty and been fed before I got home since I was getting home very late. Additionally, the house was very organized and clean. I will definitely be booking Michaela again!!”

“Alex was wonderful!! Not only was he able to House Sit for Nash after my former Rover Sitter cancelled last minute, he was promptly available for a Meet n’ Greet. He and Nash instantly bonded and they had some great walking and snuggling sessions. Highly recommend Alex for your pet needs :)”

“Veronica is the best dog sitter I’ve ever had! My six month old puppy Zeke loved her and had such a great time with her and her dog JoJo. She kept me up-to-date on how things were going and sent pictures every day. She stayed at my house and when I returned, it was like I never left… She had cleaned everything up!! She is fantastic! Highly recommended!”

“Rosemary stayed with our older dog and was such a pro. Our dog was happy and relaxed when we returned and the house was spotless. Would definitely hire Rosemary again.”
“Priscilla is a wonderful pet sitter. She took the dogs on walks, cared for an anxious dog during stormy weather, and communicated with us when she had questions or concerns. I highly recommend her for all your pet sitting needs.”

“McKenna was so great! She really paid attention to every little detail about our 2 pups and took amazing care of them while we were away. She sent lots of pics and updates and was also super flexible and understanding when our flight got delayed! We will absolutely book her again!”

Jules did a great job caring for our two dogs while we were away! Jules was attentive, communicated frequently, and made sure our dogs’ were safe and loved while we were away. She also left our home in pristine condition. We highly recommend Jules and will use her again in the future.

Sarah was wonderful! She was communicative, offered to do a pre-sit visit to meet my dog and tour the home. I received photos, daily updates, and I never once felt worried while I was away. If you’re looking for a professional, tidy, pet-loving sitter, she’s IT! We hope to have her back soon.

Auston and Kaitlyn our lifesavers. They were able to take care of our lovely cats and dogs complete with a lot of special care needed for a couple of our four legged friends. They were able to juggle our needs with everything going on in their life and we were just blessed to find them. I would highly recommend them for your daily pet care or overnight.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Molly did an amazing job taking care of our sweet Maya and our two cats while we were away. She sent us pictures and updates every day, which gave us great peace of mind and let us see how happy and well cared for they were. Molly took Maya on several long walks and gave all of our pets plenty of attention, love, and care. It was clear from the photos and updates that our pets absolutely adored her, and when we returned home they were relaxed, happy, and well cared for. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would highly recommend Molly to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and dependable. We will definitely be booking with her again!

Alexis is your one-stop-shop for pet needs. Our dog Nala needed a sitter relatively last minute and Alexis was there for us. She is attentive, engaged, and shows the utmost care and respect. There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Alexis provides the gold standard of care and you and your furry friend can rest assured your experience will be nothing but amazing

Jessica was so helpful in getting the care my pup needed while we were away! She took her to the vet and ER on the first day of care and stayed with her on our behalf. ( she started showing symptoms of illness the night before her stay.) Jessica also made sure to send lots of pictures of our other pups and keep us informed on how things were going. The girls were happy to have her stay with them! We are so grateful for Jessica’s attentiveness to our girls!

Lia was amazing while we were out of town! We felt so comfortable having her watch our animals while we were away. She was extremely open about all communication and any issues that came up. She was also very respectful of our space and the house was left in even better condition than when we left. Highly recommend and can’t wait to use again in the future!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 9,649 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fort Hunt. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fort Hunt walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fort Hunt maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fort Hunt choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
