“Yocelyn took excellent care of my pets for a long weekend. She left the house tidy and it was so nice coming home to happy dogs and a clean home. She was communicative and sent plenty of photos. I would recommend her for your petsitting needs!”

“McKenna did an excellent job with our high-energy Aussie, who can be a bit anxious sometimes. She was super communicative, punctual, and shared lots of photos and updates. This was the first time we left him overnight with someone other than family, and it was great to know he was in good hands with McKenna. She also left our house as clean, if not cleaner, than it was before. Excited to work with her again soon!”

“Shennan was very responsive and attentive! She loved my two doggies and kept them company. Shennan was very respectful of my space and kept things tidy. Watson and Patty loved her!”

About: I’ve cared for both cats and dogs since I was very young. Through my former work at a local animal shelter, I gained valuable experience with pets of all species, ages, sizes, and needs. My days are very flexible, so I’m easily able to fit in visits at most times throughout the day. If we schedule recurring visits, I prefer they mostly stay at the same times from week to week. At this time, I am only able to care for your pet in your own home. If you have any questions about my services, please message me. I will do everything possible to accommodate the individual needs of your dog or cat.
“Jeana held down the fort staying at our house while taking care of our two dogs and two cats for 12 days. Our pets are a handful and Jeana took care of all their needs. We felt comfortable knowing our home and pets were left in good hands. I would recommend Jeana to anyone for daily walks as well as extended care. Thank you Jeana!!!”

About: I have owned pets with my family since I was a baby, and I have been volunteering with animal rescues since the age of 14! (to care for and clean up after cats/dogs.) I also own 14 fish tanks, and 2 beautiful kitties. All very well loved animals. I am currently working part time job during school. I am a college student but only have classes about 3 days a week. I am able to work best after school/ work hours, or on off days! Contact me and we can work something out:) I am an experienced pet owner, and I am happy to provide all the basics like, cleaning cages/litter boxes, food/water bowls, refreshing water and feeding, taking on walks, and playing with the your pet, and of COURSE providing lots of love and attention😸!
“Elyse did a great job caring for our very young, 1-year old lab. It was the first time the pup was left alone and she was a nervous wreck. Elyse walked her, played with her, and calmed her with loving care. Can’t thank Elyse enough !”

“Rosemary is so kind and attentive, she took excellent care of our pup! She was sensitive to our dog’s reactivity and spent lots of time with him while we were away. Our dog was calm and happy on our return home and it was clear that Rosemary took great care of him. We will definitely book with Rosemary again in the future!”

“Sarah was wonderful! She was communicative, offered to do a pre-sit visit to meet my dog and tour the home. I received photos, daily updates, and I never once felt worried while I was away. If you’re looking for a professional, tidy, pet-loving sitter, she’s IT! We hope to have her back soon.”

“Elizabeth did a great job with Mack and Aries, while I was out of town. She took them for multiple walks per day and respected my home. We already have a other stay booked with Elizabeth!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Mount Vernon
Carly took exceptional care of our whole menagerie of cats and dogs while we were away. She handled every ask with professionalism and even managed a few unexpected curveballs without missing a beat. It gave us tremendous peace of mind knowing our pets and home were in such capable hands. Recommend her without hesitation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Molly was wonderful with Rosie and Buttercup. From the updates and pictures we could tell they were very comfortable and she did a great job helping Rosie through her firework anxiety. Left the house spotless. Highly recommend and we will use her again!
I would highly recommend Jackie to care for your fur babies. She is caring, detail oriented, and has great communication. While I was out of town, she took care of my two pups and ancient cat like they were her own - did all the feedings, pottying, litter box cleaning, etc. I feel comfortable leaving them in her care and I’m so thankful to have found such a wonderful sitter.

Auston and Kaitlyn our lifesavers. They were able to take care of our lovely cats and dogs complete with a lot of special care needed for a couple of our four legged friends. They were able to juggle our needs with everything going on in their life and we were just blessed to find them. I would highly recommend them for your daily pet care or overnight.

Miranda is the BEST! I used her for in home care to give my pup a little bit more of a stable environment while I was on some travel for work. She gave him the best care and he was clearly very happy during her stay. Although I had a hectic schedule, she kept me super informed, and I would happily have her back again. Huge thanks and highly recommend!

Adriana has always taken the best care of our two dogs Luna and Scout. We especially appreciate her thoroughness and attention to detail regarding the care they need. Adriana is generous, always caring, and frequently spoils our dogs with new toys and treats. Our dogs always have a big smile on their face when Adriana cares for them (:

Juan did a great job house sitting and taking care of our three cats while we were away on a long trip! We came home and the house was in great shape, everything we’d asked him to look after was taken care of, and our girls were happy and healthy. They also seemed way more chill than they usually are when we go away, so they must have enjoyed his company!

Angelica took great care of our pups! She has large dogs of her own so did a great job managing “large dogs” personalities. She sent plenty of updates and pics so we knew how they were doing at all times. She was responsive in communication and right on time. I would highly recommend her.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Mount Vernon on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mount Vernon walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mount Vernon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mount Vernon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
