“Jordyn was great - very flexible with timing which was a huge help since we were on the road and weren't sure exactly when we would get there. Zeke had a really great time with her - sad for him since it was only for one night! We will definitely be contacting Jordyn again in the future when we come to the area again!”

“Garrett, Ana and their children were wonderful with Piper. They treated Piper like a member of their family. I would definitely recommend and call on them again.”

“Emmanuel was a superb caretaker for my senior pup with vertebral pain. I am grateful for the care he gave Ferby, especially on short notice, so that I could return to work at school. Ferby had a great day in his care!”

“Awesome experience! Jason and Jeremy were wonderful and gave us piece of mind that our dog was having a great time as opposed to being locked up in a kennel all day. Thank you!”

About: I owned a dog for most of my life. My dog sadly passed away after fifteen great years of happiness! I watch my friend's dogs when they go out of town because I'm usually always reliable and do most of my work inside my home. I am not lazy with taking dogs on walks and I care for pets like they are my own :) I am a stay at home mom to a 2 year old so I am always home to care for your loved one. We have a fenced backyard and lots of areas to walk. I can be flexible about what your pet needs. If you would prefer them in a crate at night I’d be happy to do that but usually I love having your pets roam around my townhouse and our fenced yard!
About: Hello I'm a fellow dog owner. My Charlie is a 30 pound sheltie mix and gets along with everyone. He's super friendly so he'll get along with your dog. I work from home two days out of the week and I'm available on weekends for doggy daycare where they'll play in the backyard, get walks, I'll make sure they eat, and get enough water. I can do over night any day of the week as well. The days I work from home are Tuesdays and Fridays. If you have questions please feel free to ask. I'm very accommodating but obviously I do have concerns. I have two crates and two beds on my own they can used so you don't have to bring your own.
“Hyun took great care of Coco. She sent me lots of photos. I can tell she's a very experienced dog sitter especially with small breeds. I wouldn't hesitate to schedule another day with her.”

“Matthew & his wife Khalia are wonderful to work with! They take great care of Luciano and even practice his commands with him. The thoughtful care is truly evident here. You can tell how much fun our dog has at their place too! Pick-up time involves a lot of coaxing Lucci back in the car, and during the drop off he sprints up their driveway 🤣”

“Our dog's stay with Katie was great! I really appreciated how she took the time to get to know his quirks and habits, and he was very well taken care of. You can tell that she genuinely cares about animals. I would definitely recommend her.”

“My pup Lucy loved her time with Michelle! Michelle has great communication and was flexible about drop off and pick up times. Very easy to work with. Highly recommend!”
“Romeo felt really welcoming by the family. He was shy at first but went along and didn't even notice I was gone. I felt very confortable leaving him. He had a great time with other dogs as well. Thank you we'll be back....”

“Russ and Andra are excellent dog sitters! They are very reliable and treat our dog like one of their own. They always send cute pictures and videos of our pup running around, playing, and relaxing. Our pup Twyla has the best time when she visits Russ and Andra!”

“Jenny helped me last minute when my original reservation was canceled just 8 hrs before. My puppy just had knee surgery the week before so I was a little nervous about having her out of my care. By the way she spoke of my puppy, you can tell she pays attention and cares. She provided photos and details throughout the day which put me at ease. I would definitely book with Jenny again.”

“Christin took such wonderful care of Vinny! We received regular updates with messages and photos throughout his stay, which we really appreciated. Vinny was clearly so happy and comfortable with her — they went on walks, and she was flexible with a later evening pickup. When we got him back, he was calm and relaxed, which is not something we experience very often. It was clear he felt safe, cared for, and truly enjoyed his time with Christin. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for excellent care.”

About: Mom of dogs, cats, birds, lizards and other animals looking to spoil more in my spare time. Can promise treats and lots of hugs if needed. Week dependant, Sundays open. Working as a law researcher so the schedule varies a bit but can be worked out for a new client :) I have a fenced yard, but would prefer to see animal at clients house since my dog and cat get stressed at having their space invaded, unless it's by a well known friend

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
