“First daycare experience with Emmanuel and my puppy had a time. Nori was in the company of other dogs which she loves. Lots of space inside and out to run and play. She was returned to me good and tired. We are looking forward to our boarding stay.”

“Awesome experience! Jason and Jeremy were wonderful and gave us piece of mind that our dog was having a great time as opposed to being locked up in a kennel all day. Thank you!”

“Just overwhelmed by the kindness, I genuinely was scared to leave my fur baby alone for the first time with someone new but Matthew made the process simple, kept me updated, and made arrangements with us that worked even tho it was last minute. 100/10”

“Jordyn was great - very flexible with timing which was a huge help since we were on the road and weren't sure exactly when we would get there. Zeke had a really great time with her - sad for him since it was only for one night! We will definitely be contacting Jordyn again in the future when we come to the area again!”

“I had an excellent experience with Jenny. She was extremely friendly, personable, and made me feel confident that my puppy was in great hands. She provided thoughtful care, and I could tell my pup was happy and comfortable the entire time. I will absolutely be booking with her again the next time I’m visiting the area. Highly recommended!”

“Our dog's stay with Katie was great! I really appreciated how she took the time to get to know his quirks and habits, and he was very well taken care of. You can tell that she genuinely cares about animals. I would definitely recommend her.”

“My pup had a great time at Russ's house! She came back super tired from playing with the other dogs. Russ sent me several updates throughout the day, which I really loved. Drop off and pick up was super easy- I will be using Russ again!”

About: I have taken care of friend's and family’s pets for about 6 years. We love having furry guests at our home and look forward to providing fun and care for yours! I work from home and can manage my time for potty breaks, short walks, and fun activities. Able to board on weekends and week days. I have a fenced yard. A lovely neighborhood to go for a walk. And three young adults that love to play and cuddle with the dogs so they’ll have lots of attention from everyone.
“Laia took wonderful care of Millie who is an older beagle with separation anxiety. Millie went with Laia happily and came to us at the end of the day with her tail wagging it. We traveled from New Hampshire to spend a few days with our newborn grandson. Laia was able to keep Millie calm and happy so we could be relaxed and enjoy our time with baby. Laia’s patience and compassion with Millie was very much appreciated! We would definitely book again the next time we visit our family in Virginia.”

“Christin took such wonderful care of Vinny! We received regular updates with messages and photos throughout his stay, which we really appreciated. Vinny was clearly so happy and comfortable with her — they went on walks, and she was flexible with a later evening pickup. When we got him back, he was calm and relaxed, which is not something we experience very often. It was clear he felt safe, cared for, and truly enjoyed his time with Christin. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for excellent care.”

“Hyun took great care of Coco. She sent me lots of photos. I can tell she's a very experienced dog sitter especially with small breeds. I wouldn't hesitate to schedule another day with her.”

“Mike and Erin did a great job with Sammy. I was a little apprehensive, since he hadn't been with a lot of other dogs, but he did just fine with them. Mike also gave status reports and pictures during Sammy's stay. Definitely going to re-book them when I need to. I would strongly recommend them for any of you pet needs.”

About: Mom of dogs, cats, birds, lizards and other animals looking to spoil more in my spare time. Can promise treats and lots of hugs if needed. Working as a researcher so the schedule varies a bit but is generally fairly free since I work from home and have a flexible schedule I have a fenced yard, but would prefer to see animal at clients house since my dog and cat get stressed at having their space invaded, unless it's by a well known friend

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
