“Bella was fantastic! We contacted her last minute because we needed help with giving medication to one of our kitties. She was able to come same day. We did a video call and I walked her through everything. We definitely will be using her again and if we loved the photos she sent of the kitties. It was clear that she loves animals.”

“Lori is lovely and dependable! I booked a bit last minute and she was able to FaceTime so we both could feel comfortable. She met Willie 🐶 on FaceTime as well. Very trustworthy, I would absolutely 💯 use her services again!”

“Sarah is everything you could ask for in a pet sitter. She is 100% reliable and goes above and beyond. It is obvious that she truly cares about the pets that she is looking after. Can’t recommend her enough, and we will definitely see if she’s available for our future trips.”

“Lenny is absolutely amazing! We just moved from overseas and I was worried my dogchild (he’s a senior) was going to have a problem bonding with a new sitter because he adored his last sitter. It’s safe to say he adores Lenny already and that’s such a relief. Lenny is such a great communicator and I love all the pictures taken daily. I couldn’t have picked a better person.”

“Ian was an excellent sitter for our cat Thomas the first time we went out of town since adopting him. Ian was reliable, prompt, and communicative, and most importantly, you can tell he genuinely loves animals. Will definitely have him back!”

“Jeana was great, cats loved her and she takes Great pictures. She was very punctual and the pet areas were spotless, looking forward to utilizing her again sooo😺😸”

“Grace took such great care of my cats, and they warmed up to her very quickly! My cats are notoriously messy, and she left things cleaner than when I left. I would definitely recommend and would trust her to catsit for me again.”

About: Hi! I'm Ryan, a recent grad from West Potomac heading to the University of Virginia next year! I've been taking care of animals as long as I can remember, and I've had a strict schedule for my current dog (5pm feeding & 6pm walk) since we've had him (6yrs) ! I love all animals and I'm excited to take care of any animals that need it. Every day, as long as I can remember, I've had to feed and walk my dog at strict times in the afternoon as to keep a schedule for him. This makes it much less confusing and has him calm. I'll miss him at college, but I'm glad I can keep him on track while I'm here. Since I was young, my parents have always taught me to be on my best behavior in others homes. From taking shoes off at the door to refilling a dog bowl if I see it empty, I'll make sure that your home is even better than you left it.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for about eight years, starting with pet sitting and dog walking while I was in high school. I have cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, personalities through drop in visits and overnight house sitting. I’m also a lifelong dog owner and currently have two dogs of my own, so I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. I potty trained my pug from puppyhood and have experience with younger, more energetic dogs as well as older dogs who need extra patience and care. I currently work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule to provide dependable pet care throughout the week. I'm able to accommodate drop-in visits, walks, and overnight stays, and I always make sure the pets in my care receive plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship. I'll communicate with you throughout your time away so you can feel confident your pet is happy and well cared for. When caring for pets in a client's home, my goal is to keep their routine as consistent and stress-free as possible. I'll carefully follow your instructions for feeding, walks, medications (if needed), playtime, and any other routines that help your pet feel comfortable. I understand that every pet has different needs and personalities, so I'll adjust my care accordingly, whether your pet loves lots of exercise and attention or prefers a quieter environment. I'll also treat your home with the same respect I'd want someone to show mine, keeping everything clean and secure while you're away. I'll send regular photo and text updates so you always know how your pet is doing and can enjoy your time away with peace of mind.
“Carly has been so wonderful and reliable for our dog, Phoebe! She has provided weekly drop ins for a couple of months and one long overnight stay so far, which she extended a night on short notice for us. She provides us with consistent updates and communication and Phoebe is always a happy girl after each of her visits. We highly recommend Carly, she’s been one of our best Petsitters to date.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Fort Hunt
Rebecca was fantastic! The best cat sitter we have had. She sent photos and videos and clearly spent time playing with our cats and it was clear they came to trust her and look forward to her visitors. I also really appreciated coming home to a clean litter box and all the food bowls and cat food trash taken out. Will definitely use Rebecca again!

I had yet another flight failure and didn't make it home. The airlines string us along until last minute, so when I reached out to Lori at almost 9 pm, I was so grateful she was willing to as another visit to my cats. And as I was languishing in rebooting purgatory with everything's else at La Guardia, I was cheered up with the pictures of my cats which were sent within the hour. (She takes great pictures). I highly recommend Lori--its just great peace of mind when she is watching my cats.

Lenny checked in with our two cats once a day for 2 weeks and we are so thankful for her. The girls seemed relaxed, well taken care of and happy when we got home. One day seemed a little tough on them and Lenny stayed way past her time to show them the love they needed. She kept us updated on everything and send lots of pictures which was much appreciated. Thank you so much!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fort Hunt. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
