About: Hi there! I’m Grant - my wife and I are huge dog lovers. In April of 2025, we lost our first dog, Moose, a 90lb golden retriever mix. To honor his memory, we began a fostering journey. We successfully fostered out 5 dogs (3 of them seniors) to their forever homes over the next year (including the 5th one, who became our own!). We are aquatinted with all kinds and sizes with dogs. It’s been an honor to get to know each one and explore their unique personalities! We currently have 2 dogs of our own at home: Ellie, a 3yo petite Great Pyrenees, and Charlie, a 2yo Australian Shepherd. They LIVE for playing with other dogs - we’d love to host your pup and provide them a happy, fun, safe space to stay while you are away. Do you have a big dog? Are you anxious about it pulling your dog walker? I’ve got experience with large dogs pulling and I can handle yours. I will give them the distance and space they need to have a happy and safe walk. I get anxious when we have others look after our dogs. Anything could happen. Know that I will bring every bit of care and safety to your dog that I bring to mine every day. They’re valuable members of your family and I will treat them as such. Please reach out with any questions. Thank you! I work from home when I am not traveling for work, so am fairly flexible during the day and week. Just let me know the time and we’ll see if it works! My own dog is like my child. I know that you feel the same way about yours. I will follow all instructions to a T. I am passionate about safety about my own dog - I will bring that level of care to you.

I don’t have a fenced yard, but I am very active walking them in the neighborhood and we will always make time to go out. We are sidekick and we go walking together, dog parks together, but also she has not ever met a dog that she doesn’t love. Even those in the neighborhood that don’t get along with others love her. I do not have kids, but my nieces who are 5 to 9 or around her often so she is great with them, but I also understand those that don’t want their dog around kids so I will not bring them around them if they are uncomfortable.

Friends, family, and neighbors have trusted me to feed, walk, play with, and check in on their pets. I’m patient, attentive, and treat every dog like they’re my own. I’m also happy to follow specific routines, feeding instructions, and care needs to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. “Jessica took amazing care of Luna. She was communicative during her stay, sending me photos and letting me know how she was doing. This was very reassuring when using a new pet sitter. Luna also took a liking to her and we look forward to booking again with her.”

About: I treat pet sitting as a professional responsibility, not just a hobby. I focus on behavioral observation—noticing the small changes in mood or appetite that others might miss—ensuring your pet is not just safe, but truly comfortable. Whether your pet is a high-energy toddler or a dignified senior, my goal is to provide a seamless, stress-free experience for both of you. I’m currently an active duty full time college student that has plenty of time to their self. I wake up early in the morning around 5:00 to work out before I start my day off and I’m home everyday at 12:00 after class. I rarely have plans on the weekend so I am mostly free the whole day Saturday and Sunday. I have a secured gated apartment that also has a dog area so they can socialize and get plenty of exercise if needed. I clean every week and have plenty of space. I will have a specialized area directly for your pet to enjoy them self that is also nearby my room if they have anxiety.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Huntington
Laura & Simon were great with my puppy Rue. She became a part of their family in such a short time. They were always on time with pick up and drop off. And from the pictures and videos, I can tell Rue had an amazing time. If we ever need daycare again, they will be my first choice.

This is our first time using Rover. Russ and Andra were amazing. Keept us updated on the boys and send us photos. We used their service while we went to the Indy car race in DC. We will definitely use them again when we are in the area again. Thank you for taking care of our boys.

Jennifer was wonderful with Belle! Usually Belle is a bit apprehensive, but she warmed up from the start. Jennifer was very reassuring and attentive. She took Belle for multiple walks and kept me updated on her progress. She had a ton of toys, which Belle loved. I would definitely use her again.

This was Augie’s first time spending time away from us with strangers and Marie was very welcoming and seemed to understand dogs and Augie felt at home. Marie also had a good size enclosed yard. She communicated and responded to my texts about on how he was doing. I would use her again, if I was traveling through Washington DC.

Madina was so easy to schedule with and very accommodating when I didn’t know exactly what my schedule was going to be. I am so glad that my puppy and hers got along so well and he is definitely exhausted from such a full day! I will definitely be rebooking with Madina for any daycare needs!

I'm so glad that Boba got to stay with Allie, Austin, and Oakley because we are already familiar with each other from me and Boba taking care of Oakley. They know Boba well and took such good care of him. Allie shared cute pictures and updates throughout the day, which I appreciated greatly!

Jessica took amazing care of Luna. She was communicative during her stay, sending me photos and letting me know how she was doing. This was very reassuring when using a new pet sitter. Luna also took a liking to her and we look forward to booking again with her.

Megan was absolutely amazing with Percy and Pico during their doggy daycare stay! She took such great care of them, kept us updated throughout the day, and sent plenty of photos so we could see how much fun they were having. It was clear they were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. We felt completely at ease knowing they were in such great hands. We would absolutely book with Megan again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable sitter!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Huntington commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
