“I can’t say enough great things about Carlos! Caring, communicative, responsible, responsive! He was attentive to our older dog’s special needs and took the time to send so many wonderful photos and videos as well as detailed updates. We will definitely book Carlos again. He is a top notch sitter and recommend without any reservations.”

“After meeting and talking with Lilly, I knew that Sammy would be cared for just like he was still at home! Lilly was wonderful and sent little updates and pictures while we were gone. We were able to enjoy our family cruise and know that our dog was in good hands. I am already making reservations for his next stay with Lilly and her family. Thank you!”
“Seamus absolutely loved staying with Yasmine! She was terrific with above and beyond care (special meals, treats, walks, playtime and just hanging out time). We will definitely be repeat customers and recommend Yasmine enthusiastically and without hesitation!!”

“Rania did a great job watching our dog and sent us updates as well is video. She was accommodating and Namah had a great time in her fenced in back yard. I would recommend her to care for your fury friend and will definitely use her for our future needs.”

“Erin helped us out with last‑minute boarding and took great care of the dogs. She was very responsive before and during their stay, and she showed genuine interest in their routines, making sure they were comfortable throughout the boarding.”

“Aly took such good care of Duffy! She provided us daily updates and photos of him. We can tell he had a great time with Aly! We’re so glad to found such a trustworthy babysitter for Duffy!”

“Na-yong K. was responsive and very considerate when caring for our dog, Haru. He had a wonderful time walking around her house and playing with her. We would gladly ask her to watch Haru again.”

“Jordyn took wonderful care of our senior dog while we were away. She sent frequent updates with photos throughout the stay, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our dog has mobility challenges and needs a little extra help, and Jordyn was incredibly patient, attentive, and caring. It was obvious she treated her with kindness and affection. Our favorite update was that she was “cuddling Mr. Wolf!” When we picked her up, she came home happy, calm, and relaxed, which is the best indication of the care she received. We would absolutely trust Jordyn with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate, dependable sitter.”

“Michelle and her family were wonderful. I could tell from the videos that my dogs were living the dream in their huge backyard. They came home happy and healthy after twelve days. Three chhers for Michelle's doggy sleep-away camp!”

“Kristen gave my dog the best thanksgiving week ever. She watches dogs during the day and had other boarders, so my yellow lab was thrilled to have a pack to play with. He came home tired and happy.”

“Melissa took great care of our dog Charlie! She took the time to meet with him beforehand to get to know his behavior and make sure he was comfortable in her home. She sent updates with pictures every day so we knew he was doing well and having a good time. Melissa is clearly passionate not just about dog sitting but taking time to really understand and accommodate different dogs’ personalities and make her home a comfortable and safe space for them. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for someone to take excellent care of their dogs!”

“We are SO,SO happy we found Michelle (& family) to help us take care of Gus when we need to go out of town. She is definitely a dog mom and treated our little guy like her own. 5 Stars, for sure!!!”

“Laurie and Rich were so kind and caring for our little Frodo. From their photos, he was clearly comfortable in their home and yard. They kept us updated with his adjustment as it was his first time with them. When they expressed concern when he did not eat his dinner, we assured them that he does skip meals. We were lucky to find them available for our mini vacation. Thank you, Laurie and Richard”

“Really enjoyed boarding here. Our pup got plenty of love and attention. We also greatly appreciated the frequent photos updates! Will definitely be returning customers ?”

“Margarita clearly loves animals. I know my dog is well taken care of with her. She is attentive and loving but doesnt spoil my dog too much. I almost feel like my dog comes back better trained after spending time with Margarita. I highly recommend her services.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Bristow
We are so very pleased to have found Helena and Nathan to take care of our little Sheltie, “Crystal”, when we go away. They are caring, experienced, and provide great daily updates and pictures/videos. Also, their home and property is ideal for dog boarding and doggie exercise. We highly recommend them and will definitely be using them again to pet-sit our four-legged baby.

Wonderful stay and a very kind family. I would request leaving my dog with them again with no hesitation. Proactively asked questions if there was even the slightest unknown as to how to best care for her. Frequent photos and detailed status updates that made a point of addressing my dogs quirks, reassuring me that all was well. She came home happy and adjusted easily.
Kate took fantastic care of my border terrier, quickly getting him comfortable and settled, and she showed him lots of love throughout the week. She took him on regular walks and he even lost a little bit of weight (which he needed)! She sent us photos regularly, which we appreciated, and it was clear he was well cared for and felt at home! She was great and we’d board our dog with her again in a heartbeat!

Daisy had a wonderful time at Susan’s. I was able to relax on vacation knowing she was well-cared for. She had outdoor time, snuggles on the chair, and was able to be around other dogs. There were enough rugs and they were able to work with Daisy being uncomfortable with slippery floors. Susan will be my first choice for future bookings.

We couldn’t have asked for better care for our Marley! Hyunbang, Austin, and Love were absolutely wonderful with her while we were away. The regular updates helped put our minds at ease, and the photo updates were so cute and fun, and we looked forward to them each day. It was clear Marley was having the best time playing and running around their backyard and then napping comfortably around the house. She came home happy, and we’re already looking forward to her next stay with them!

Amie is wonderful! Our Moxie's tail started wagging when she recognized Amie's house, she knew she was about to get spoiled all weekend! This was our second time having Amie take care of Moxie and we will absolutely be checking her availability any time we need a dog sitter.

Banks had an amazing time with Nicole, Harper, and all his new doodle friends! I can’t recommend them highly enough. I always have complete peace of mind knowing Banks is safe, happy, healthy, and very spoiled when he’s staying with them. He absolutely loves his visits! 🐾❤️

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
