“Cassie has been very caring and communicative. She came the day before to meet our dog and ensure Roxy was comfortable with her. She gave us extra details on the walk and Roxy's well-being. Very much appreciated. Thank you.”

“Thanks for helping us out with walking Riley and Archie this week! Really appreciated the time you spent with Riley too to get her comfortable with you. Will be sure to reach out in the future!”

About: My husband and I have taken care of our friend’s teddy, Pomeranian, Rottweiler and Labrador retriever, Friends have relied on us to walk, feed, and board their pets when they are at school, at work, on vacation or when they had to deal with emergency situations. I’m currently working on a hybrid schedule where I work from home on Mondays and also I have Fridays off as well meaning I am able to pet sit from Friday to Monday night! We have a fenced back yard, and a very large grassed park area behind our townhome. My husband and I loveeee going for walks, would be thrilled to take your furry out to explore some new smells near our home. Happy to provide updates with photos through out the day.
“Samantha is wonderful! She has a great calming presence which helps put my anxious dog at ease. My non-anxious dog took to her right away and they love seeing their walk friend :) Highly recommend Samantha as a reliable and trustworthy person.”

““Reliable, caring, and punctual!” Kimara has been walking Coco weekly and has been absolutely wonderful. She’s always on time, gives updates promptly, and genuinely cares for Coco. I can trust her completely and appreciate her consistency and professionalism. Highly recommended!”

“Caryl went above and beyond for her walk with my dog, and she spent extra time ensuring that he was settled and had what he needed before she left our home. Highly recommend her to take care of your pups!”

“Trent is absolutely wonderful. He made going away for a weekend without our two large dogs stress free. Trent gave us detailed messages about how each of their walks went, followed all of our guidelines and it was easy to tell our dogs trusted him and enjoyed his company. He handled our reactive 80lbs dog with grace and ease. We would recommend him to anybody! One of the most reliable and easy experiences we’ve had with someone else caring for our pups. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Janet is amazing! My dog loves her and gets so excited when he sees her coming. She is very punctual, flexible, and kind to both myself and my dog. She has a smile and great attitude and she’s been a blessing to have around. Would hire her again and again!!’”

About: I have nearly 2 years of experience as a kennel assistant at a Hayfield Animal Hospital caring for dogs, cats, and exotics of all sizes and personalities. I also was a part of the Edison Academy veterinary science class where we provided grooming services to clients. I’ve taken care of my own dog for 8 years and have pet sat for family and friends. I’m reliable, patient, and focused on making every pet feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I also helped train my dog as a puppy and have experience administering medications to pets at my work and will be getting experience as a veterinary assistant this summer. I currently work part-time as a kennel assistant, so caring for animals is already a big part of my daily life! I’m available most weekdays and weekends, and I’m happy to make time to stop by and care for your pet. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or just keeping your pet company, I’ll make sure they feel safe and cared for while you’re away. I care for every pet as if they were my own by making sure they feel comfortable and loved while their owner is away. As a pre-vet student at Virginia Tech, my passion for animals runs deep. Just as I do with my own dog, in a client’s home, I follow their pet’s normal routine for feeding, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and plenty of attention and companionship. I also make sure pets have a clean, stress-free environment and would love to keep owners updated with messages and photos!

“Monique was great! She was very accommodating and fit us in on New Years Eve. My pup was very comfortable with her and SO happy to be getting some exercise! Very grateful to Monique for her time and for Julep's walk!”

“Brianna is a great dog walker!! She is very quick to respond to messages and took the lead organizating the meet and greet. She was available on pretty short notice, which was such a relief. Brianna was immediately comfortable with my 150lb dog, which means she is comfortable with any dog! She is a great dog walker and I will be using her regularly!”

About: I've cared for friends' fur babies throughout my teen and adult years. I also grew up with dogs. I was tasked with walking, feeding, and watering our black Labrador, Blackjack, until he passed back in November 2012. I know every dog needs at least two walks. I want work-life balance, so I am available on weekdays afternoons and evenings, plus weekends, as long as it's scheduled at least three days before. While in my client's home, I'll send daily photos and videos of their fur babies so they don't need to worry or miss their dogs. I'll also be sure to leave the home almost exactly as I found it.
About: I’ve been taking care of animals since I was 12! I used to work at a small business where dogs would get dropped off while their owners are on vacation. I actively walk dogs/ pet sit in the Fairfax County area! I am currently a student at NOVA so I am very available! I work my schedule around the animal and their needs, so whatever you need I can help with! I have three dogs of my own and I love them to pieces! I enjoy playing with them in the backyard and taking them on walks, or just hanging around with them.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Bristow
It's been so wonderful having Ruby walk my pup. I'm very protective over him and she has done a great job putting me at ease. She's always on time and responsive which is a huge deal for me. She handles all his crazy golden energy in stride. Highly recommend her.
Mike is an extremely professional pet sitter. I have booked him more than once and I will continue to do so. He has stayed at my dwelling and I trust he will take care of my dog very well. Mike sends regular updates with pictures that keep me up to date with my senior dog.
Steve is the best. Our slightly special needs rescue needs a gentle but confident hand, and Steve is great with him. He makes sure our old boy gets his medication and food (which he can be quite uncooperative about) and he always takes him on the best walks. We’ve used Steve for boarding and drop-in visits/walks in our home. We know we can trust that he’ll take care of Riley just like we would (or maybe even better!) He’s reliable, communicative, and always sends great pictures, so you’ll always know how well things are going with your furbaby while you’re away!

This was my first experience using Rover, and I couldn’t be happier. Cassie was amazing, and I sincerely hope she is always available to walk/board my Labrador when I need her. From our first meeting I could tell she genuinely loves dogs. She is trustworthy, reliable, provides timely communication and was a joy to work with. Rover is very lucky to have her on their team.

I booked Julia for reoccurring walks with my dog, a senior husky. She was very patient with my pup and made sure she was well taken care. Julia listened to all my notes and concerns with my dog and made me feel comfortable with entrusting her to take care of her. I definitely recommend Julia to look after your dog too!

Sophie is responsive to requests and communicated very well. She was accommodating for a kind of last minute request and also let me know how things went afterward. I was happy she was available to give my pup a midday trip outside and some nice attention too. She listened to everything I shared about Elli and her habits & was very comfortable. Thanks, Sophie!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
