About: I have experience taking care of dogs of all different kinds from a young age! I have a strong love and appreciation for all dogs and their unconditional love. I was an elementary school teacher for 8 years so patience, organization and an intense sense of care are my strongest skills. I am currently in the process of finding a new remote job and am home during the week and most weekends! I love to walk and having a buddy to come with me would make my day. My hours and days are pretty flexible ♥️ I live in an apartment with plenty of outside space around the building to take any pups outside to play with. I don’t have any pets at home so your pet will have my full undivided attention 🤍
“Anne has been a godsend since my return to the office 5 days a week. She is a great communicator and sends really cute photos. Highly recommend!”

“What a pleasure Liliana is! She was so patient with both me & my newly adopted pup. She really took the time to understand both of our needs! So happy I found a great dog walker in the area!”

“Sarah was amazing as a dog walker for my pups! She was very responsive, came exactly on time for the walk, and was clearly so sweet and loving with both of my dogs! One of my pups is quite shy and Sarah spent extra time with her to get her comfortable before the walk which was above and beyond amazing. Will absolutely book with her again in the future!”

About: My first "real job" was being a dog walker, where I would walk a cocker spaniel named Gonzo after school for 3 years. Since then I have dog and cat sat for neighbors through the years, both for short weekend trips and for longer multi-week trips requiring me to house sit as well. I fostered my first kitten for a month while in college, and helped foster over 30 cats and kittens during the pandemic since I had a little extra time on my hands. Over the past two years I have been pet/house sitting most months. I have watched everything from one dog or one cat for 4 days, to two cats and a dog for 2.5 weeks. I've watched puppies and kittens from 4 weeks old and on, and dogs and cats as old as 14 years. The actual breeds have been all over the place, but in terms of dog size I've watched everything from small terriers and daschhounds to huge labs and german shepherds. In addition to owning and caring for a goldendoodle for 11 years, I've also done a lot of pet sitting for my parents 6 year old rescue hound/lab mix and 4 year old rescue short-haired cat. While watching your dog(s) or cat(s) I would rearrange my schedule as needed to prioritize giving most of my attention to your pet(s). I work remote and generally have a flexible schedule, so I could feed/walk/care for your pet(s) following whatever schedule they are used to. I don't work on the weekends and would be able to dedicate any needed time on weekends to caring for your pet(s)! I am happy to care for your pet in your home the same way you typically do so that they maintain the same routine. Whether that means letting your dog(s) out in a fenced backyard, taking them for neighborhood or trail walks, going to a dog park, or following standard crate rules. Similarly for cats, I am happy to maintain the same feeding schedule, whether it's wet or dry food, and clean the litter box regularly. And of course, give your pets all the scratches and attention they want!
“Guiselle was friendly, timely and super professional! She sent multiple pics of our dog while they were on their walk and it really reassured my husband and I while we were at work! Looking forward to booking her again.”

About: I have almost 30 years of experience taking care of pets, from mostly dogs, to gerbils, to fish, to rabbits, and even cats. It all started by taking care of my aunt and uncle's dog and cat while they were away. I also helped my cousins with their rabbits when we were younger. Over the years, my family had many goldfish (won from fairs or carnivals), two gerbils, and a black lab who lived almost 14 years. In college, one of my roommates got a rabbit that we all worked together to take care of as well. Now, I mainly help family and friends with their pets while they're away, but I would love to branch out. I enjoy taking dogs for walks and playing with them in the backyard (or inside a house if it's allowed). I'm looking to try this out as a side gig and possibly turn it into more, so I am dedicated to find time that meets your schedule. Since I live in an apartment, I am unable to take care of any pets (not already listed on my lease) in my home. However, I am willing to come to your house and will make sure to lock any doors used and make sure everything is cleaned up as much as possible before leaving.
“Isabelle walks my goldendoodle furchild every day and she’s such an important part of Maya’s life. To start, she’s super communicative and reliable, which makes it really easy to plan and coordinate walks and dogcare with her. She was also great about learning what behaviors we try to reinforce, Maya’s habits and routines and what Maya eats, which gives me the warm and fuzzies that as a parent, aunt Isabelle is staying consistent with dad’s rules. Isabelle is so great with dogs and has good judgment generally; seeing how she interacts with Maya and hearing her describe how Maya did on a given walk, I trust her implicitly. Lately she’s been really helpful in figuring out fun new walking routes or destinations that cater to Maya’s interests and mood and energy level. Yep Isabelle is a wonderful dog “auntie” and just a delightful human being. I don’t know what her advertised rates are on here, but you should pay them and then some. Isabelle, get after it girl. Charge people what you’re worth! ?”

“Trent is absolutely wonderful. He made going away for a weekend without our two large dogs stress free. Trent gave us detailed messages about how each of their walks went, followed all of our guidelines and it was easy to tell our dogs trusted him and enjoyed his company. He handled our reactive 80lbs dog with grace and ease. We would recommend him to anybody! One of the most reliable and easy experiences we’ve had with someone else caring for our pups. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Sofia is the best! Our pup loves her! She is flexible with scheduling and is super friendly! 10000/10 care provided for Knox! We have already rebooked with her and cannot recommend her enough!! 🙃🐾 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Andrew is a great guy and dog walker. He has been incredibly patient with our skittish dog and gone above and beyond to build up trust. He knows what he’s doing and clearly has a great love of dogs.”

“Dominique was great with my two dogs. They loved him immediately. Dominique was very flexible when I had to add in a couple of additional walks due to work commitments. I would highly recommend him.”

About: I love being around animals and have many years of hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats. I own a rescue dog, which has taught me the importance of patience and providing a safe, loving environment for animals of all backgrounds. I have volunteered for the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation and the Animal Welfare League of Arlington where I have looked after dogs and cats of various sizes, ages, energy levels, and temperaments. I have a flexible schedule and committed to ensuring pets feel comfortable, happy, and well-cared for while their families are away. I have recently graduated from William & Mary and have an open schedule with the flexibility to walk, feed, care, and tend to your pet during your preferred times of day. I am also available to house sit and stay overnight with your pet. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big decision, and I will take that responsibility seriously. My goal is to give you peace of mind and ensure the needs of your pet are prioritized. I will provide updates, send photos of your pet, and communicate clearly. I am respectful, accountable, and will closely follow any instructions you have set for your pet.
“Al has been our dog walker for the past several months. He has been very careful and gentle to Feibai, who is a blind senior dog. We definitely recommend him to anyone in need of care for their dog — he is excellent!”

About: I’ve been around dogs and cats my entire life and have always had a deep love for animals! One of my favorite things about pet sitting for my neighborhood growing up was getting to know each pet’s unique personality and what makes them special. I’m a dependable, caring, and communicative pet sitter who understands how important it is to leave your pet with someone you can trust. I’ll keep you updated with photos, messages, and timely communication, so you can see how much fun we’re having! Whether your dog loves long adventures or quick neighborhood walks, I’m happy to match their energy. I also enjoy playtime and giving plenty of attention and affection. After a fun day/walk together, they’ll be ready for a well earned pup nap! I work from home 3 days a week and am flexible on timing, so seeing your pup throughout the day or for a lunchtime walk is no problem at all! I am almost always local on the weekends as well. I focus on keeping your dog’s routine as consistent and comfortable as possible! I know pets feel most at ease in familiar surroundings, so I’ll follow your instructions closely regarding feeding schedules, walks, medications (if needed), playtime, and any specific preferences your pet may have. I’ll treat your home with the same respect and care that I would my own, while making sure your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I’ll also provide regular updates, photos, and communication so you can feel confident knowing your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Lake Barcroft
We had an excellent experience with Trinity. She was kind, friendly, punctual, and consistently kept us updated, which gave no us great peace of mind while we were away. We have three dogs, each with very different personalities and needs, and Trinity took the time to get to know each of them individually. She carefully followed our instructions and ensured they were comfortable and well cared for throughout her visits. Our dogs clearly enjoyed her company, and it was evident that she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. We felt completely confident leaving them in her care and would highly recommend her.

Syeda was wonderful! She arrived right on time, took great care of my dog, and made the whole experience easy and stress-free. I really appreciated her professionalism and reliability. I would definitely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy dog walker!

It's been so wonderful having Ruby walk my pup. I'm very protective over him and she has done a great job putting me at ease. She's always on time and responsive which is a huge deal for me. She handles all his crazy golden energy in stride. Highly recommend her.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
