About: [NOTE: I was active on Rover before the star system was employed, so I have reviews, but no stars yet as I jump back in!] I'm Tom, based in Falls Church near the National Cemetery. I work from home as a consultant with a lot of flexibility during the week, so weekday middays are actually open rather than squeezed around something else. I'm looking after all kinds of dogs, from easy ones who just want their loop around the block to dogs who need a little more thought. My own dog is Buddy, a 70lb pittie who was very reactive towards people and animals. I've also fostered for Lost Dog and AARF in Baltimore, which meant a steady rotation of dogs showing up with almost no history, so you learn to read a dog quickly and adjust rather than run everyone through the same routine. Some of those fosters were reactive, on leash with other dogs or with strangers approaching, and a few were both. It's an area I am familiar with and I'm glad to take those dogs on. It also just made me a better walker generally. I pay attention to the small stuff, the ears and the pause, and I'd rather pick a calm route your dog actually enjoys than a scenic one that leaves them wound up. If your dog does better in a particular harness or with a specific setup, tell me and I'll use it! I used to pet sit here on Rover, and these days I stick to weekday walks and drop-ins close to home so I'm never rushing between neighborhoods. I've got a car, so rain doesn't change anything and I can get to a vet fast if I ever need to. I ask for a meet and greet for reactive dogs before every first booking. I want to meet your dog on their turf with you there, and hear how you read them, since nobody knows them better than you do! Non-reactive dogs can have a meet and greet too, but it isn't mandatory. Available weekdays, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Would love to hear about your dog! I'm currently off-season for my job, so I can reliably be scheduled from 9AM to 3PM (so I can do daycare pickup)! I have lots of flexibility this time of year. Happy to be a recurring friend! I follow whatever routine you set. Tell me where the leash and treats live, how you want the door handled, and any quirks I should know about, and I'll stick to it exactly. I leash up before opening the door, check the collar or harness fits properly, and confirm the door is locked behind me on the way out. Keys or codes stay with me and aren't shared. If anything seems off with your dog, you'll hear from me right away.
“Isabelle walks my goldendoodle furchild every day and she’s such an important part of Maya’s life. To start, she’s super communicative and reliable, which makes it really easy to plan and coordinate walks and dogcare with her. She was also great about learning what behaviors we try to reinforce, Maya’s habits and routines and what Maya eats, which gives me the warm and fuzzies that as a parent, aunt Isabelle is staying consistent with dad’s rules. Isabelle is so great with dogs and has good judgment generally; seeing how she interacts with Maya and hearing her describe how Maya did on a given walk, I trust her implicitly. Lately she’s been really helpful in figuring out fun new walking routes or destinations that cater to Maya’s interests and mood and energy level. Yep Isabelle is a wonderful dog “auntie” and just a delightful human being. I don’t know what her advertised rates are on here, but you should pay them and then some. Isabelle, get after it girl. Charge people what you’re worth! ?”

“I was impressed with Daniel right from the start! He is a very humble, respectful, responsible, kind young man who loves animals. My dog Sophie immediately took to him and she would have great walks with him. I asked a lot from Daniel when I went on holiday…and he delivered! He came to my home for 10 days to not only walk my dog but also feed her…give her medicine, and as a bonus, he played with her. Socializing w Sophie went a long way because she was alone most of the time. He would always be on time and, when another dog walker canceled, he quickly covered that shift. No questions or higher charge. He sent a lot of photos too. Since I’ve been back from my holiday, I’ve been in poor health. I texted Daniel and he is now my dog walker on days when I’m unable to take Sophie out myself. Again, punctual & always thinking about what’s best for my dog…. For example, He remembers to dry Sophie’s paws when they arrive from a walk in the snow or rain. I highly recommend Daniel as your dog walker or sitter.”

“Juan took such good care of mocha. He cared for him as if he was his own. I would highly recommend him if you want someone to go that extra mile for your furry friend!”

About: I just love animals! I have worked for an animal advocacy organization and received ongoing education about the care of companion animals. I volunteered at Fairfax County Animal Shelter walking and showing dogs, and fostering dogs, cats, kittens, guinea pigs, rabbits and more. I know how to meet a pet where they need me to be, whether it's lots of snuggles or lots of personal space. I grew up in a house full of animals and I look forward to meeting you and your precious pet. I'm only in the office 2 days a week so I have good flexibility to take care of your treasured pet and look forward to meeting you both! I have a fenced in patio area for lounging outdoors and great walking paths with lots of things to sniff. I love playing fetch and teaching new tricks if you're up for it!

Giang helped my anxious pups feel at ease right away! She's clearly an animal lover and they warmed up quickly with her. She's also a fantastic communicator - very prompt and clear. Highly recommend and so grateful to have found her as someone trustworthy that both me and my pups can rely on.

Lucy was an amazing walker! She took our foster dog DD on some fun walks and DD loved her. She came on time (or early! ) which DD was very happy about. And she put out her food after. Was quiet not to wake our family who is still asleep at 6:30am. :) We’d love for her to walk for us again!

Elizabeth has been absolutely wonderful with Chewy and Stormi! She is reliable, caring, attentive, and treats them like they’re her own. They are always so excited to see her, which says everything. Her updates give us such peace of mind, and we always know our babies are safe, happy, and well cared for. We couldn’t ask for a better dog walker and highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and genuinely loving!

It's been so wonderful having Ruby walk my pup. I'm very protective over him and she has done a great job putting me at ease. She's always on time and responsive which is a huge deal for me. She handles all his crazy golden energy in stride. Highly recommend her.

Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in Falls Church. On Rover:
- 89% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
