About: I spent a month caring for an elderly dog back in college. I ensured she received her daily medications and took her on walks on the icy Midwest winter sidewalks. She was a joy to spend time with! I currently work part time and on my own schedule, so I am flexible and able to schedule a visit that can meet your fur-baby’s needs! I wake up early and am available in the mornings and in the afternoons, and also can make time for nighttime visits. For the time being, I offer drop in services and dog walking. I am happy to arrange with you the best possible care for your pet and learn more about how to care for your unique fur-baby! Please tell me your needs and wishes and we will communicate and create a plan together. I am happy to send photos and updates of your pet at the frequency you would like! (By the way, I am known for my photography and have been complimented on the photos I take of pets not only because they are adorable but also because they capture the essence of their personality)
“Anne has been a godsend since my return to the office 5 days a week. She is a great communicator and sends really cute photos. Highly recommend!”

About: I have been around all kinds of cats and dogs. I’ve been petsitting in my neighborhood since the summer of 2019. I am offering overnight services! My schedule varies throughout the year, but I’m generally flexible and will work with you to find a time that fits your pet’s needs! I prefer not to bring any pets into my home. However, I am more comfortable with staying overnight in the owner’s home with the pets!
“I was lucky to find Tasha, a new local dog walker in our town. She responds to messages quickly, is available for morning walks, friendly and, most importantly, punctual and reliable.”

“Evie is so great with dogs! From the first time I met her, I knew she’d take great care of my little guy. He had a great walk with her and I will definitely hire her again.”

“Paris was super flexible last minute and made sure to know all about my doggo and his walking habits so she would be prepared for a walk. This type of care does not go unnoticed and I am super appreciative!”

“Celeste is dependable and a good communicator. She kept our dog happy and walked, cleaned her before leaving each day so muddy walks were not an issue after leaving our dog until we were home from work. Thank you Celeste!”

“Isabelle walks my goldendoodle furchild every day and she’s such an important part of Maya’s life. To start, she’s super communicative and reliable, which makes it really easy to plan and coordinate walks and dogcare with her. She was also great about learning what behaviors we try to reinforce, Maya’s habits and routines and what Maya eats, which gives me the warm and fuzzies that as a parent, aunt Isabelle is staying consistent with dad’s rules. Isabelle is so great with dogs and has good judgment generally; seeing how she interacts with Maya and hearing her describe how Maya did on a given walk, I trust her implicitly. Lately she’s been really helpful in figuring out fun new walking routes or destinations that cater to Maya’s interests and mood and energy level. Yep Isabelle is a wonderful dog “auntie” and just a delightful human being. I don’t know what her advertised rates are on here, but you should pay them and then some. Isabelle, get after it girl. Charge people what you’re worth! ?”

“Ellie has provided such great care for Brady!! She has gone above and beyond all expectations . . . so nice to be able to go away and know that Brady is receiving such loving care.”

About: I have two senior pups of my own! One has arthritis and the other needs insulin shots daily, so I’m very familiar with and love going at the pet’s pace on walks 🥰. I worked at a professional pet care company this past summer, and have been taking care of my neighbor’s animals since I was a little kid! I am a college student currently so my schedule is quite interesting! I’d love to use my free time to take care of your babies, and I greatly enjoy the mood boost and exercise that comes from dog walking. My main priority when taking care of an animal is their comfort and needs. If we are going for a walk, I will make sure their harness is secure and we do not interact with other people or animals (just to avoid a reactive situation). If your pet is a senior, I’ll happily go at their own pace! I have two senior babies myself so they can’t be outside for as long anymore. The same goes for shy dogs, I will never force your pet into a situation where they seem uncomfortable being, such as going for a walk when they are fighting the harness being put on.
“I was impressed with Daniel right from the start! He is a very humble, respectful, responsible, kind young man who loves animals. My dog Sophie immediately took to him and she would have great walks with him. I asked a lot from Daniel when I went on holiday…and he delivered! He came to my home for 10 days to not only walk my dog but also feed her…give her medicine, and as a bonus, he played with her. Socializing w Sophie went a long way because she was alone most of the time. He would always be on time and, when another dog walker canceled, he quickly covered that shift. No questions or higher charge. He sent a lot of photos too. Since I’ve been back from my holiday, I’ve been in poor health. I texted Daniel and he is now my dog walker on days when I’m unable to take Sophie out myself. Again, punctual & always thinking about what’s best for my dog…. For example, He remembers to dry Sophie’s paws when they arrive from a walk in the snow or rain. I highly recommend Daniel as your dog walker or sitter.”

“Lexy and Robert have been so great! They’re incredibly communicative and flexible, always on time and write great notes, and our dog is so happy and good with them. We’re very happy to have found them.”

About: I’m a pre-vet student who just graduated from UVA and has grown up with two large dogs! I’ve also recently owned a hamster from a college lab! I have a lot of experience dog and cat sitting for friends and family including puppies, kittens, and senior dogs and cats. I also have about 100 hours of dog walking experience from a shelter so I am comfortable with reactive/fearful/energetic dogs, and another 100 from shadowing at a vet practice. I just got a vet assistant job so usually it requires me to be away for 6 hours! I can only do all day pet sitting on Wednesdays and Sundays which I have off! I always make sure that I understand the instructions that I’m given and maintain clear communication with the owner if I have any questions. I never make any assumptions and always make sure that the owner is comfortable with any decisions that need to be made.
About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was a child, I’ve owned a fish, 7+ rabbits, 2 hamsters, a turtle, a chick, and currently own 2 dogs. I’ve petsit for mainly friends, I’ve housed a dog until we could find him a home. I also have experience with Guinea pigs and cats. My current schedule is very open and I have lots of availability! I am available almost daily now and will have lots of time for your fur babies. When I walk dogs I love to play with them and pet them before doing anything else so that they feel more comfortable with me being in their home. Then I clean their diapers and wash/replace their food bowls. Then I will take them for a 30min-1 hour walk and when we return back home I like to give them play time if time allows.
“Juan continues to be very reliable and courteous. I think genuinely likes my dog, which is very cute to see. Sometimes after working with someone for a bit the quality of service slips, but not with Juan. He continues to be great to Waffles.”

About: I absolutely love making both new people and animal friends. Since losing my dog 5 years ago, my focus has been on traveling, and pet sitting has been a wonderful way to do that. I love all dogs, big and small, and as an avid walker, if your dogs love to walk, I am your girl. I have several regular clients from both near and far, so I am happy to provide references for dogs and cats. I work remotely, so I am with your pets throughout the entire day. Also, your rules for your pets and your home become my rules, and I follow your rules to the T. I also work through another service where my reviews are stellar; the best review being that I am being asked to return back again and again. Below are several of my recent reviews: "Valerie (“Auntie Val”) is truly exceptional, and we feel incredibly lucky every time she’s able to stay with our dogs, Mashed Potatoes and Magnus. Knowing she was with them made our recent trip to Morocco so much easier—we were able to fully relax because we knew they were in the absolute best hands. She kept us updated with frequent messages and lots of great photos, which we always appreciate. It’s clear how much she genuinely cares about the animals she’s looking after. When Magnus had a bit of an allergy flare-up, Valerie was proactive, attentive, and more than willing to help treat it—even though he can be quite stubborn about his lotion treatments. She handled it with patience and care, and we were so grateful for her effort. We also came home to a spotless house, which is always such a gift after traveling. Valerie goes above and beyond in every way—she’s thoughtful, communicative, responsible, and incredibly kind. We always feel completely at ease when Valerie is with our dogs, and that peace of mind is priceless. If she’s available to sit for you, do not hesitate—your pets and your home will be exceptionally well cared for." "Valerie has taken care of our pup and our home several times now and she's always a joy. She is intuitive with our dog and he's always overjoyed to see her. One of the best things about Val, is that she's so friendly and communicative - so if anything comes up or if she has questions, it's simple to figure it out together. Not to mention she leaves the house sparkly." "Valerie is a top notch sitter, lovely human, and a true dog whisperer! From the moment she walked in (and yes, she literally walked 30 mins to our meet and greet because she’s that active) I knew it was a great fit because my typically shy Cavalier Rosie went right up to her for some lovin’. My other Cavalier, Winston, was beyond happy to see her too and they became fast friends 💛 I truly cannot say enough good things about Valerie. She managed Rosie’s 4 heart medications like a pro, was extremely adept at making sure my aging senior pups didn’t have any accidents despite Rosie being on a water pill, and gave them soooo much love and care, including extra walks for Winston who just loved that I’m sure 💛 She also provided detailed daily updates and made me feel so comfortable being far away from them. Valerie went above and beyond, even staying an extra night to allow me a bit more time to see my parents, washed leashes and blankets, watered plants I had forgotten about, and left notes and pre-stuffed pill pockets to keep Rosie’s schedule on track. And after a long, delayed flight, I came home to freshly washed sheets on the bed, two happy dogs who will miss her dearly, and no messes from the pups. I was blown away by how seamless Valerie made the whole experience." "Valerie is a wonderful pet sitter! She is reliable and professional. But, more importantly, she really bonds with the dogs. She spends time playing and relaxing with them. She makes sure they are active and safe. Valerie has even stopped by just to say hi to our dogs, Tupelo and Clover when she is not watching them. We fully trust the care of our home and our beloved dogs with Valerie." I currently work remotely, so I will be home with your kids for the majority of the time. As I work for myself, I can work most of my schedule around your pet's needs. I take this work seriously, and fit my day around their schedule. My priority is making sure they are happy and safe. I only care for pets in a client's home. Both through my old career as an interior designer and now pet sitting for 5 years, I am very confident in being able to accommodate to the needs of both your pet and your home. I am very self-reliant with the needs of pets, plants and pad!
About: Growing up I always owned animals as I love all kinds of animals from big to small. It was always my dream to own a dog or a cat and ever since getting my very first dog in middle school, I learned a lot about what it takes to give love and handle an animal with care and attention. I would love to take care of your animal just as if it were my own as I own a cat myself and am fostering cats when I can. I am also an active volunteer for the rescue organization here in nova called 4paws. I believe that all animals deserve the best. I have several years of experience taking care of animals/pets and will follow any specific needs that your pet requires. I will promise to go above and beyond for your pet to make sure that you and your pet are more than happy! I currently take care of my cat at home. I work from home as well so I have plenty of time to drop in for visits or walks. I enjoy volunteering at the shelter when I have time and doing Rover requests as I get them. I provide a lot of toys and cat trees at home for my own cat and will make sure your pet is provided all of their needs.

Ozgenur took very good care of my dog Grace for almost 10 straight days while I was traveling…. She was always on time, and gave her very good walks and exercise. I was very pleased with Ozgenur’s work and would gladly have her take care of Grace again. Highly recommend her as a dog walker and caretaker for your Pet(s). Thank you Ozgenur!!

Lucy was an amazing walker! She took our foster dog DD on some fun walks and DD loved her. She came on time (or early! ) which DD was very happy about. And she put out her food after. Was quiet not to wake our family who is still asleep at 6:30am. :) We’d love for her to walk for us again!

Elizabeth has been absolutely wonderful with Chewy and Stormi! She is reliable, caring, attentive, and treats them like they’re her own. They are always so excited to see her, which says everything. Her updates give us such peace of mind, and we always know our babies are safe, happy, and well cared for. We couldn’t ask for a better dog walker and highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and genuinely loving!

Kelly is a great walker and companion to our dog Ducky! We had originally hired Kelly for 3 days a week - Ducky gets so excited when Kelly arrives, and he comes home happy and tired (in a good way) after each walk! Kelly is also very informative, adding details on each walk and letting us know of anything else after returning

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
