About: I’m a pre-vet student who just graduated from UVA and has grown up with two large dogs! I’ve also recently owned a hamster from a college lab! I have a lot of experience dog and cat sitting for friends and family including puppies, kittens, and senior dogs and cats. I also have about 100 hours of dog walking experience from a shelter so I am comfortable with reactive/fearful/energetic dogs, and another 100 from shadowing at a vet practice. I just got a vet assistant job so usually it requires me to be away for 6 hours! I can only do all day pet sitting on Wednesdays and Sundays which I have off! I always make sure that I understand the instructions that I’m given and maintain clear communication with the owner if I have any questions. I never make any assumptions and always make sure that the owner is comfortable with any decisions that need to be made.
“Mya was wonderful in every way. She was highly communicative with me and sent lots of pictures and videos. She was also great with my terrified-of-everyone cat. I couldn’t have found a better sitter for my kitty while I was gone. I hope that if I need to travel again, she is available. I wish I could give more stars 😄”

About: I spent a month caring for an elderly dog back in college. I ensured she received her daily medications and took her on walks on the icy Midwest winter sidewalks. She was a joy to spend time with! I currently work part time and on my own schedule, so I am flexible and able to schedule a visit that can meet your fur-baby’s needs! I wake up early and am available in the mornings and in the afternoons, and also can make time for nighttime visits. For the time being, I offer drop in services and dog walking. I am happy to arrange with you the best possible care for your pet and learn more about how to care for your unique fur-baby! Please tell me your needs and wishes and we will communicate and create a plan together. I am happy to send photos and updates of your pet at the frequency you would like! (By the way, I am known for my photography and have been complimented on the photos I take of pets not only because they are adorable but also because they capture the essence of their personality)
“Cindy is a life saver ! I booked her last minute and right there and then she went as soon as possible to do the drop in for my pets. Cindy truly cares for your pet ! She will go above and beyond. Cindy was so sweet , my fur baby’s got so comfortable and felt a good connection with her right away. Cindy thank you again! Will be booking again!”

About: Hello! I'm Valentina! I have experience caring for pets of different ages and needs, including my 10 year old cat and my sister’s 4 year old dog. Most recently, I cared for a Giant Schnauzer puppy right through his crazy growth spurt, from the day he came home at 3 months old all the way until he was 7 months old! Working with a high energy, big pup takes a lot of patience, consistency, and structure, so I kept him on a solid daily routine with twice a day walks to burn off that puppy energy and practice good leash manners. I’m also a very active person and genuinely enjoy being outdoors, walking, and staying on the move, so I love being able to bring that energy and enthusiasm into caring for pets. I have a flexible schedule and am generally available for walks and drop-in visits in the morning from 7:30 to 9:30 AM and in the afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. I’m happy to be flexible and work around your pet’s routine whenever possible. A little advance notice is always appreciated so I can plan my day and make sure I can give your pup the time, care, and attention they deserve. I love caring for pets in their own homes, where they can stay comfortable and stick to their familiar routine. I find that pets tend to feel more relaxed and at ease in their own space, especially when their owners are away. I’m happy to follow their normal routine, whether that includes feeding, walks, playtime, or any special instructions, and I’ll make sure they receive plenty of love, attention, and care while you’re away.
“Mitzi was incredible with Pumpkin! She took her on walks, played with her, gave her treats, and communicated with all updates throughout the day. I already plan to have her watch Pumpkin again!”

“Hannah did such a great job with our kitten while we were out of town! Sent lots of pictures and updates that definitely helped our peace of mind leaving our girl for the first time! 😺”

“Thao was incredible. Super communicative and super loving towards our senior dog. We never had any doubt that he was being well cared for. Will definitely use her again at any opportunity!”

“This was my first time using Rover, and Elizabeth eased a lot of my initial nerves and was a wonderful sitter for my cat! Everything went really smoothly, and she sent me photos and videos when she came to visit. She was very communicative throughout the entire process, and I felt better knowing my cat was gonna be cared for by a trustworthy person. I had a really nice experience with Elizabeth and will most definitely want to work with her again! Thank you for your help!! 💕”

“Paris did an excellent job. She followed my instructions and let me know when she had questions or concerns. I returned home to two happy cats. I'll definitely request Paris again in the future.”

“Taylor was exceptional. Communication was great, she took lots of adorable photos of my cat, she was prompt and responsible, and I feel like she went above and beyond with leaving everything tidy. I will definitely use her services again!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was young, and animals have always been a big part of my life. I’m currently a live-in nanny, and I also care for the family’s dogs. When their owners are away, the dogs stay with me and even sleep in my room so they feel safe and comfortable. I currently work part-time as a live-in nanny, which allows me some flexibility for pet care. However, I do have a busy schedule with regular dog-walking clients, so availability can vary. Please message me first to confirm scheduling before booking. I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs if I have an open time slot. I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment for every pet in my care. I carefully follow each dog’s routine, feeding instructions, and any special requirements provided by the owner.
“Julia and Spencer are great with our cats! They spend plenty of time playing with our high energy kittens. They take awesome pics and give us thorough updates! Thanks again!”

“Maria is so thoughtful when taking care of my cat! She provides detailed, fun updates and I can tell my cat enjoys when Maria stops by. Highly highly recommend for someone reliable, timely, and great with cats!”

“Juan is AMAZING!! He went above and beyond with communication and over all care! My pup has special meds and Juan had no problem with it when feeding breakfast and dinner(: Juan went out of his way to go to a pet store to grab a sweater for my pup because it was cold out during their walks 🥹 It was so comforting to know Brody was with someone who goes the extra mile!! 10000% recommend!!!”

“I would highly recommend booking with Dana. She was consistent with timing, left my apartment as I had found it, and sent photos of my pet every visit so that I knew she was okay.”
About: I have two senior pups of my own! One has arthritis and the other needs insulin shots daily, so I’m very familiar with and love going at the pet’s pace on walks 🥰. I worked at a professional pet care company this past summer, and have been taking care of my neighbor’s animals since I was a little kid! I am a college student currently so my schedule is quite interesting! I’d love to use my free time to take care of your babies, and I greatly enjoy the mood boost and exercise that comes from dog walking. My main priority when taking care of an animal is their comfort and needs. If we are going for a walk, I will make sure their harness is secure and we do not interact with other people or animals (just to avoid a reactive situation). If your pet is a senior, I’ll happily go at their own pace! I have two senior babies myself so they can’t be outside for as long anymore. The same goes for shy dogs, I will never force your pet into a situation where they seem uncomfortable being, such as going for a walk when they are fighting the harness being put on.

Elizabeth is the first sitter I ever used for my two cats and I will always rebook with her! She took such great care of my babies and made me feel comfortable knowing they were in good hands especially with one of my cats having a medical condition. Communication was fantastic, she sent an update and photo after every visit, and I could always count on her to be right on time.

Henry was wonderful with our two cats while we were away for a week! He was reliable, caring, and made sure both cats were well taken care of. Both of our cats seemed very comfortable and happy in his company. Henry was great about keeping us updated, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. He was attentive to their needs, dependable, and treated them like his own pets. Coming home to happy, well-cared-for cats made it obvious that they were in great hands. We highly recommend Henry to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter. He made leaving our cats for a week stress-free, and we will absolutely book with him again!
We had Paul sit our two cats for a week each. From the start, Paul was super communicative and responsive. Our kitties—typically skeptical of strange hoomans—took to him right away, and he took such great care and attention in everything he did to make them feel comfortable while we were away. Thank you!

Amanda was incredible!!! We completely forgot to send over the pet care instructions and were unable to communicate due to not having service and she still did literally every single thing that we told her about at the meet and greet. She was kind and attentive and the animals all loved her!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
