“I have had Aimee watch my cat Harley multiple times. She goes above and beyond to take care of Harley and I appreciate all of the photos and updates she sends. Will continue to use her in the future!”
“Drew was great with my “quirky” dogs while I was out of town. She took great care of them. She was on time, provided photos, kept me informed, etc. I would definitely use Drew again in the future.”

“Sarah was wonderful with the cats. They got along with her really well and she was very thorough in giving us updates and photos. I will definitely be asking her to cat sit again in the future!”

“Lily is a gem! I had an extended work trip -1.5 weeks and I didn’t once worry about my cat with Lily taking such great care of her. Lily is really good about posting several photos each visit and letting me know how my cat was doing. This was especially comforting over such a long time away. I highly recommend Lily!”

“Spencer and Julia kept me posted throughout the weekend, provided several pictures, and spent a lot of quality time with my cat. Really appreciate their help and communication, and would recommend them to others.”

“We needed someone on short notice and Alexandria responded immediately. She was friendly, easy to communicate with, and made the process stress-free. She was great with our 8-month-old rescue, Poppy, who’s still adjusting and can be reactive on leash. Alexandria was patient and understanding, handling Poppy thoughtfully. We loved the photos and report card after each visit and would definitely book Alexandria again—Poppy would be happy to see her too!”

“Mya was AMAZING! She was so thoughtful and thorough. She offered to come by and meet our kitties before we left, which was so wonderful. She was super attentive to all of our crazy cat parent concerns. She was also super communicative the whole time, and sent us lots of pictures! We have a cat that is super shy and barely comes out for friends or family, let alone strangers, but Mya got her to play and spend time with her. Will definitely be hiring her again and would recommend to anyone looking for a caring sitter!”

“Catherine went above and beyond for our drop-in visits! I was so happy to leave George in good hands, with great walks and playdates with her dog Winston! Thank you so much for everything you do!!”

About: I have taken classes in dog behaviors and how they act when they might need a particular action done. I have a NAPPS certification, which is National Association of Professional Pet Sitters that is earned for all small animals, both including dogs and cats. I have had my own very young puppy, so I know how to handle and train them in a gentle manner that they will respond to. I have tons of experience in senior dogs and cats, so I am patient to more slow animals or paying attention to them more and making sure they have what they need. I have an extremely open schedule and can stay over for longer periods of time than most people. I am free almost every single day for hours on end, so finding when I can come over is no trouble. I’m easy to schedule if I need to house sit, and am extremely responsible and willing to stay overnight when needed. I love taking care of animals in their own homes, knowing they’ll feel the most comfortable surrounded by their familiar surroundings. The only thing I care about is that your furry companions are safe and cared for in a way that they don’t feel out of place or missing the love they got before you left them in my care.
“Michael was so patient with my shy and reactive kitty. He tried multiple methods to engage with her and knew when to give her space. He followed my instructions very closely and I was very comfortable trusting him with my pet.”

About: I have grown up with dogs and adopted cats as an adult. I have dog sat for my family (Golden named Goose). I have also watched my roommates dog and two cats, on a regular basis. I know I can’t get my own (dog) for a few more years, so I’d love to take care of yours!! My wife is also a dog and kitty lover, so if more time is needed around the pet she can help when needed! M-F: I work in the office (8am-4p) as a GIS Analyst. I'm off Saturday and Sunday. I don’t mind watching during the week, as long as they can be left for 8 hours. You can also get help from my wife (free of charge), she only works Mon/Tues right now, so there could be more drop-ins later in the week, if necessary. I will make sure they are fed, taken out and walked. I don’t mind having them sleep with me or putting them in a kennel, if needed.
“Andre was the best!! So attentive, always sent me photos of Freddie, and was a huge hit. He was juggling a few other pets during the same time but never made me worry about if Freddie was taken care of. THANK YOU, Andre!”

About: I have owned pets for the last 15 years, both cats and dogs. I am available any day, any time for walks or drop-in visits! I am comfortable walking aggressive dogs. I absolutely love animals, and will provide the best care for your pets! I am available any day, any time - my schedule is open to drop in or go for a walk anytime you need, even multiple times per day! I will honor whatever advice or instructions provided, and I am comfortable/experienced in dealing with shy or aggressive pets. First and foremost, safety is important. I will always take the utmost care in making sure your pets are responsibly cared for and I will never put them in a risky or dangerous situation.

“Heather was my first experience with Rover and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to take care of my kitten while I was away! She sent me pictures and videos daily, and was very attentive and communicative! Will definitely be reaching out to her if I ever have to leave town again!”

“Tiffanie was wonderful! She provided detailed notes and lots of pics. My cats tend to be a bit shy/anxious when I’m gone but they seemed to warm up to her quickly :) def will rebook with her in the future.”

“My cats seemed to really like Larissa! We were away for a week and upon arrival home the litter boxes were clean as was the kitchen with their used and washed wet food bowls.”

“Ethan was amazing!!! He went above and beyond. He made sure to play with Hershey a ton ( he’s a super energetic kitten!) and made me feel so much better that he understood a 2.5 month old kittens needs. Ethan even went above and beyond with tying the trash for me. Sent me tons of photos as I was a worrisome new cat mom. He stayed in contact and it was comforting. Will definitely be booking him everytime going forward! He was also available last minute which was extremely gracious of him. Appreciate you Ethan!”

“Amber has been great each time she has cared for Nugget. She’s patient with Nugget’s mini attitude and has even been able to pet her which is rare for someone to do when I’m away. I appreciate the bond she’s established and how she keeps in contact with me. Amber will even do extra tasks like clean the litter area even though I forgot to ask that when we first established the details of care. Amber is and will continue to be my first call when I need someone to care for my fur baby.”

“Anne was AMAZING! So kind, so diligent, and she took great care of my cat, Louise! Louise is a little shy, but Anne was an expert, and made Louise feel comfortable and at home!”

Emili did a wonderful job of taking care of our kitty. She was super easy to communicate with and was as kind as can be. I felt very reassured leaving my pet with her as she shared lots of pictures and updates during her visits. Would highly recommend for anyone in the area!

Samantha was wonderful! She took great care of our cats while we were away and took so many photos so that we were rest assured. We could tell they trusted her. She also saved us in multiple situations, from resuscitating our plants to handling a door lock problem while we were away.

Lyndsay took such good care of my cat Mooncake! I really appreciated her notes on each check in updating me on how my cat was doing, and it seems they had a great time together! She was also kind enough to help with cleaning a bit of a mess my cat left. Overall she was amazing!!

Simone is so incredibly communicative. She shares lots of pictures and I always feel looped in to how things are going every day. I cannot imagine having anyone else catsitting them anymore because my kitties are so comfortable with her. Highly recommend!

Lily was so great with our two cats! She sent us lots of great pictures and was very attentive. She was also flexible and was able to help us out by coming an extra day when we had a flight cancellation. I would highly recommend Lily and would definitely rebook in the future!

Naomi was great with Hermes. He warmed up to her in just a short while, which is no small accomplishment. He's usually pretty circumspect around strangers. Naomi kept us well informed with photos, where Hermes seemed to enjoy her company as much as (or more than!) ours.

Claire did a great job watching our two kitties over a holiday weekend. She was responsive, communicative, professional, and took great photos! Our kitties clearly felt very comfortable with her right away. We'd ask her to watch over them again in a heart beat!

Claire immediately made me feel at ease leaving my anxious dog and temperamental cat! They responded so well to her, and her patience and kindness were palpable. She was so communicative and responsive to my pets’ needs, I hope I get the pleasure of booking her again!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dover. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
