“Fernanda was so helpful! We booked her last minute before a trip out of town for Memorial Day and she was able to accommodate us and stay at our own home with our two pups. She’s so responsive and gives updates every day. We are so glad to find someone who we can use in the future!”

“Danielle was great! She scheduled a meet-and-greet in advance where she asked thoughtful questions and saw our pup’s routine. She took great care of our house and sent lots of pictures throughout the stay which was much appreciated. Would definitely book with her again. Thanks again!”

“With Wayne, both my pooch and my home were in excellent hands while I was away for several nights. I also appreciated his responsiveness to my texts and the daily updates and photos every morning. A stress-free experience that I look forward to repeating on my next trip!”

“We’ve been using Hannah for a few months now and she’s the best! Super reliable, communicative, and always attentive to Azul’s routine. He has separation anxiety so there’s a few extra steps involved in his care, and she’s always so thoughtful about handling everything. It’s such a relief having someone dependable we can trust with him :)”

“We had a great experience with Paris. She was responsive, sent great pictures of our pup, and took wonderful care of her while we were away for the weekend. We would absolutely use her again!”

“Shannon was great and took really good care of Lady! She sent pictures and was very communicative the whole time. I could tell she really cared for Lady while she watched her.”

“Andrea went over and beyond. Kaya was well cared for and happy, the house was left in great shape, and when bad weather threatened to delay our return home, Andrea worked with us to be sure Kaya care was covered! Highly recommend!”

“Eric was fantastic! He was super communicative throughout the stay and clearly took great care of our apartment. He left everything in its place and even put back on the calming YouTube dog video we'd left on for our dog before we left. He sent us lots of photos of our pup, and it was obvious he was in good hands the whole time.”

“Sarah was a fantastic sitter from start to finish. We've had some terrible experiences with sitters over the years, so we know (and appreciate!) a good one when we find one. From my first interaction with Sarah, she was responsive, professional, and very pleasant. She took excellent care of our 3 dogs and older cat. They are a cute crew- but a lot of work! Sarah made it look easy, and she left our home in great shape too. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve jumped at every opportunity to take care of friend’s and family members’ dogs since I was in elementary school! I’ve taken care of dogs with varying medical needs and across a range of breeds. I truly find any time spent with animals a gift, and I’m excited to begin my journey on Rover and help take care of yours. I am a teacher on summer break, so my availability is more than usual! I can walk dogs or drop in between 9:30 am and 12 pm or between 2:30 pm and 7 pm. However, beginning the last week of August, I will only be available after 4 pm due to my full-time job. I aim to begin fostering animals soon, but my residence is currently pet free, so I’ll have time to focus on your fur babies! I have experience with dogs across a spectrum of needs and have experience orally providing medication. As a teacher and dog-lover, I am patient and will work to create a safe environment that is attuned to the needs of your pet(s).
“There’s nothing better than coming home to your dog after a long trip especially when he’s calm and relaxed because he was well taken care of. Juan allowed me this joy. It was the first time I’ve used him and Romeo took to him right away. Juan updated me daily and was responsive to messages. He also left my house in great condition. Thank you for taking care of my baby. We’ll be seeing you again!!”

“Absolutely fabulous! She is an outstanding communicator, sent tons of pictures, and took great care of an old dog and a neurotic one. 10000% would recommend and use again! 💕”

“Second time having Kylee in our home to sit for our pup and it went really well! Our dog was completely relaxed with her, and she’s usually anxious when we’re gone. Two thumbs up!”

“Trisha is an excellent dog and house sitter! Our two dogs absolutely love her. We love the video updates Trisha sends and we can tell they are in such good hands with her. She also takes great care of the house and leaves it perfectly clean. We have used Trisha’s house/dog sitting services several times now and she is consistently as great each time!”

“Amy is a gem! We did not plan on having a small kitten along with our two adult cats when we planned a trip, and realized a house sitter was needed to continue monitoring and acclimating our cat fam. Amy responded to all communication promptly, sent pics and updates throughout, and left our house immaculate. We came home to cats who were relaxed and happy. Highly recommend Amy's services, she is a trustworthy professional.”

“Gabz was a fantastic sitter for our senior cat. They were super communicative and diligently took great notes on his many medications. I cannot recommend Gabz enough for anything you need, including house sitting. Six stars!”

About: Leaving your pet with someone else is a big deal — you want to know they're safe, loved, and in good hands. That's what I'm here for. I've been around animals my whole life, from my own pets growing up to regularly caring for friends' cats/pups as an adult, plus 3 years of pet sitting through Trusted Housesitters. I'm used to stepping into a pet's routine and making sure they feel comfortable the whole time their people are away. Right now isn't the right time for me to have a pet of my own, so caring for yours is something I genuinely look forward to. I have a real soft spot for older dogs, but I'm just as happy with energetic pups who need to burn off steam. Whatever your pet needs — a long walk, medication assistance, a game of fetch, zoomies release or just some couch time — I'll meet them where they are. If you're looking for someone who'll treat your pet like their own, I'd love to meet you both! I work full time from home, which means I'm around and flexible throughout the day — not tied to a 9-to-5 that keeps me away for long stretches. I can easily fit in walks, drop-ins, or playtime between meetings, and I'm also open to house sitting or overnight stays when needed. Because I'm home so often, I can usually accommodate last-minute bookings too. When in your home, your pet's comfort and safety come first! More than happy to follow any safety measures that help keep your pet safe and happy.
“Cindy was amazing. She stayed at our home for several days caring for our 15 year old poodle Scarlett. She gave her attention, sent us updates and we never had to worry about Scarlett. The mail was inside, the plants were watered and the dog was happy. Thank you Cindy. You’re the best!!❣️”

Guiselle goes above and beyond every time she house-sits our 3 pets for us. She does an AMAZING job - the pets are clearly so comfortable and happy with her, and we have peace of mind while away that our little fluffy family is being well taken care of. We cannot recommend her highly enough!

Livvy did a great job housesitting my husky, Frida! We really appreciated how communicative and thorough Livvy was throughout her stay. She sent just the right amount of pictures and updates while we were traveling. We also appreciated that the apartment was perfectly tidy when we returned. Overall, we would definitely have Livvy watch Frida again and we highly recommend her to others!

Halle was fantastic with my two cats. There was an issue with my building giving her the key (not her fault) and she was very communicative and flexible to figuring the situation out while I was traveling. I really appreciated the pictures and updates she sent, she was respectful and clean in my apartment, and my cats really liked her. Will use her services again and would recommend as a trustworthy cat and house sitter.

Emily was so amazing with our cat, Twix and dog, Anoushka! She was so communicative and we received lots of pics! She also was so kind and left our house immaculate— we love Emily and are excited to ask her to housesit again, I know both Twix and Anoushka would love that too!

Jiesen was quite possibly the best Rover we’ve ever had for our dog and two cats. He truly went above and beyond, taking our dog on multiple long walks and excursions in the community while we were gone for the long weekend. Before arriving at our house, he asked detailed questions to ensure he understood the instructions given. During the weekend, he sent updates on how our pets were doing and many pictures, which we really appreciated. He clearly loves dogs and cats and takes this job very seriously, caring for them as he would his own pets. I couldn’t recommend Jiesen enough and we will absolutely be booking him again!!

Rebecca is great! She's dog sat for us several times now. She's communicative and let's me know how Nala is doing or if she has any questions. She's also very up front about any scheduling conflicts so that we can make other plans if need be which gives me peace if mind. We always come home to a happy dog and a clean house! Already have her booked for our next trip.

Alicia was amazing with our dogs and cats while we were away for 10 days. She took great care of their many needs—walks, medications, reassurance during storms—and left the house cleaner at the end of it all. Highly recommend for multi-pet households who need complete peace of mind!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 10,336 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dover. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dover walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dover maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dover choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dover. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
