“Noah is fantastic! He dog sat for us for over two weeks and we came home to a very happy dog and spotless apartment. He was communicative the entire time (sent a picture and text update each day) and was event able to accommodate a last minute additional day when we weren’t able to get home the day we originally planned. Highly recommend Noah and will be booking again!”

“Halle is absolutely phenomenal! She exceeded all my expectations and needs taking care of Tommy and my apartment while I was away. She is very communicative and had the cutest updates throughout the booking. She made my trip so easy to enjoy knowing everything was being take care of — I absolutely recommend her in the DC area!!”

“Kevin came through for Kingston and me, even in the snow and ice. I appreciated his flexibility and early arrival time and from all I could see he took excellent care of Kingston. I would definitely use him again for dog-sitting.”

“We were extremely impressed with Summar’s care for our pets- 2 dogs and a cat- for 2 weeks. M She kept us informed on a daily basis, allowing us to enjoy our vacation without any concerns. She handled a couple of unexpected events with great professionalism- she really is a pro. And a warm and caring person with great pet sense- our normally standoffish cat warmed up to her immediately. Summar is 5 star plus in our book.”

“Wayne was responsive, communicative, and followed all of the care instructions we provided. He proved to be responsible, attentive, and genuinely caring. Our dog, a former rescue with anxiety who typically takes time to warm up to new people, quickly became comfortable with Wayne and clearly enjoyed spending time with him. I recommend his services and would gladly use him again for dog sitting.”
“Vitality B. Is fantastic pet sitter. He's responsible, dependable, and our kitties love having him around. He sends us updates and we feel very fortunate to find him through Rover. This is our first time using an app to book a pet sitter. And this is our 3rd time having Vitali here at our home. You will have peace of mind if you hire Vitali. And your pets will love him too!!”

“Erica is our go-to resource for taking care of our dog and home while we are away. She communicates clearly throughout the stay. She goes the extra mile to make sure our pet is happy and healthy. We return to a clean house and very happy dog. Recommend her without reservation.”

“Michaela watched our nervous chihuahua while we were in town. She was great with our dog, sent lots of pictures and was great to work with. We will be using her again!”

“Lizabethe was great watching Maggie and Rocco in our home while we were away for an extended weekend! She provided regular updates with pictures. We'd love to book with Lizabethe again!”

“Melissa was great with our dog! She was very responsive and reached out with photos and check-ins. She also left our home in great shape. We would love to have her watch Lolli again!”

“Mark watched our two dogs for a week and was fantastic. We have great communication and daily pictures of the dogs. Mark also treated our home with respect and was completely professional.”

“Danielle was great! She scheduled a meet-and-greet in advance where she asked thoughtful questions and saw our pup’s routine. She took great care of our house and sent lots of pictures throughout the stay which was much appreciated. Would definitely book with her again. Thanks again!”

“Katherine was fantastic with our Muffin and is a delight! We had ongoing pictures and texts from her that made us comfortable during our two weeks away. We are so pleased that we got to know her!”

“Nolan was amazing. He took care of my pups like they were his own. Both of my pups are older and require medication or extra care and Nolan was able to provide excellent care to them. Will definitely book him again.”

“Ixchel stepped in at the last minute to watch our dog, Rue. Rue can be shy and anxious around new people, and Ixchel knew exactly how to approach her. She provided regular updates and we felt relieved knowing Rue was in good hands. Would recommend her services!”

“Trisha was amazing, the day before she was scheduled to stay with my 2 month old puppy, my puppy started having tummy problems. Trisha took such amazing care of her and gave me regular updates about her stools, food/water intake, and energy level. She provided so much relief and such high quality care.”

Vitali B is the best Pet & Home Sitter we have ever hired. He's responsible, trustworthy, and our pets love having him around. How do we know this? When we return they are unphased by our presence. I think they actually miss Vitali! We are very lucky to find Vitali. You will be too. Send him an email. He is communicative and reliable. You're pets are in good hands w Vitali. And so is your home.

Livvy did a great job housesitting my husky, Frida! We really appreciated how communicative and thorough Livvy was throughout her stay. She sent just the right amount of pictures and updates while we were traveling. We also appreciated that the apartment was perfectly tidy when we returned. Overall, we would definitely have Livvy watch Frida again and we highly recommend her to others!

Halle was fantastic with my two cats. There was an issue with my building giving her the key (not her fault) and she was very communicative and flexible to figuring the situation out while I was traveling. I really appreciated the pictures and updates she sent, she was respectful and clean in my apartment, and my cats really liked her. Will use her services again and would recommend as a trustworthy cat and house sitter.

Annah and Meara were the best! In a stroke of good luck, they were available last minute, came right away for a meet and greet, and were punctual, responsive, considerate, and great with our dogs. Trying to figure out if I can book them now for the next five years… highly HIGHLY recommend! They allowed us to relax and actually enjoy our trip because we had total peace of mind that good people were watching and caring for our pets.
Sydney did a great job taking care of our somewhat rambunctiousdog. She was a strong communicator and sent lots of photos and updates. I felt very confident that Pink was being well taken care of. She also took great care of things around the house. I would definitely rebook with Sydney in the future.

Allison is the perfect dog sitter! She was wonderful and kind with our dog Blaze, taking him for long walks and taking very good care for him, while also being excellent with communication and looking after our house perfectly. We will definitely use her again and would highly recommend her. Thanks so much!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 10,626 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Friendship Village. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Friendship Village walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Friendship Village maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Friendship Village choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
