“Daria was amazing with our cat Rosie and took great care to make sure she was happy and safe while we were away. She is reliable and trustworthy, and very loving towards animals. Daria has a lovely warm personality and animals gravitate towards her. She spent lots of time with Rosie and I appreciate having been able to count on Daria. Would definitely recommend Daria and use her in the future for pet sitting.”

“We were delighted with the care Gabby provided for our 12year old dog and the care she took of our home. Responsive, communicative and reliable. Responded to our messages promptly and sent daily updates as we had requested. Will call on her again if needed.”
“Aliyah went above and beyond in taking care of my cats. My youngest fur baby instantly warmed up to her, which is quite rare! Aliyah sent me lots of photos while I was away, easing my separation anxiety. Being away from my cats is never easy, but knowing they were in such great care with Aliyah made it so much better.”

“Karachi did a great job taking care of our dog, Charlie. She was very communicative, accommodated our schedule, and was diligent in giving Charlie his medicine. Charlie really liked her!”

“Monica was great at communicating throughout our trip. When we got home our cat and dog were both happy, the plants were heathy, and the house clean. We’ll definitely reach back out to Monica for future trips.”

“Our dogs were very happy and we really appreciated all the texts and pictures so we knew how everything was going. We highly recommend her and will definitely hire her again”

“We were VERY pleased with Jony. It was a last minute booking for an unexpected trip. He came to meet our dog and go over house/animal instructions beforehand. When he stayed at our house he left it cleaner than when he arrived! He took excellent care of our 10 yr old rescue German Shepherd and our chinchilla. Communication was excellent. We will definitely book with him again.”

About: I've always gotten along very well with animals and I'm very receptive to their mood and needs. I have experience with dogs big and small and I'm comfortable handling multiple at a time. My schedule is open highly flexible. I'm available weekday mornings and evenings, as well as weekends, but weekday afternoons may require advance notice, particularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm available for walks and sitting, but currently unavailable for boarding. I am willing to fulfill all your pet's needs including grooming, medicine, and check-ins if needed.
About: I'm the woman taking an evening walk and asking if I can say Hi! to your dog. Two dogs - one as a child, the second 35 years later - were among the most important relationships of my life. No offence to family and friends. The second was a Black Lab and taking him on his evening walk in a local park in Moscow was the best part of every day. I'm retired and walk for pleasure anyhow. I am the servant of Dasha, a rescue cat with more personality than good sense, who is willing to let me spend nights away to take care of your beloved dog or cat. Friends and family have already benefited from my "service" - and now you can too. I'm retired, with a schedule that is my own to make. I'm only looking for Rover duties in the 20814 and nearby zip codes that I can get to easily and quickly. Daily activities include daily walks and almost daily lap swimming, lots of reading, too much scrolling, and occasional editing and writing gigs. Oh, and playing with my cat Dasha. When staying over for your dog, I'd live at your place and visit Dasha for a few hours daily. I'd travel with my laptop and pretty much do at yours what I do at mine. Schedules and a certain amount of order and a base line of cleanliness - that's my approach to caring for my four-legged family, whether cats or dogs. I expect dogs to need attention and I'll give it. Though we lived in an apartment in Moscow, our Black Lab Jasper enjoyed the life of Riley, with 3-4 walks a day to nearby parks. The rest of the day he spent following us from room to room, positioning himself strategically so he always could see one of us at all times. Cats, of course, are different; I wait for Dasha to emerge from wherever she's "hiding" to let me know when she wants to be played with, brushed, petted. If this is your pet - great. If not, I'll adapt to that, too!
“Giovanna was a wonderful sitter and I would trust her to stay again any time. She handled a very chaotic weekend and I was never once worried + I came back to a spotless house. I’ll be sure to book with her should I need someone in the future.”

“Melissa was communicative, sent photos and was overall great to work with. Our dogs were very calm when we came back which is great! She will be watching. Then again in two weeks and are overall happy with the support.”

“Cora was an excellent sitter that got Ozzy and Dee out for many walks. They loved her and she was attentive and an extremely good communicator which put our minds at ease. Definitely will look to book again and highly recommend to all pet owners!”

“We hit the jackpot with Vanessa!! She is such a compassionate , dependable and knowledgeable dog sitter. She gave us pictures and updates throughout the weekend. We highly recommend her.”

“I had a last minute trip come up and Mari went out of her way to do a meet and greet the day after I contacted her. She was very attentive when I explained daily tasks and she asked insightful questions that showed she really knows animals and wanted to make sure my cat was happy. She sent me updates every day and always responded to me right away. Thanks so much, Mari!”
“Shamiso exceeded all of my expectations. I was apprehensive about leaving my 14 week old puppy for any number of house let alone days with someone else. I think Shamiso recognized this and started sending my photos while I was on my way to the airport - she also sent frequent daily photos and updates during the stay. What I did not expect and which was such a great thing to come home to was a house that was actually cleaner than when I left. I cannot say enough good things about Shamiso and look forward to lots more hangs with Koda in the future.”

“Really appreciate Jared's attention to detail. Our pets have a somewhat complicated feeding schedule! Communication level was great and gave us peace of mind while we were away.”

“Highly recommend Minh for house and pet sitting. He took great care of our cat Jasper who ended up being quite shy. Minh helped make sure he had food and water and moved these to where Jasper was hiding out. Minh was extremely responsive, detailed and thoughtful. House was taken care of and left in excellent condition.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Chevy Chase
Jocabet was wonderful with Asparagus! Since he had just moved from a farm to the city, he was still very shy and didn’t warm up to her right away. She was so patient, and by the end of their first visit, he accepted a treat and allowed her to walk him. The next day, while she watched him during our podcast, he took another short walk with her and even let her hold him when he got sleepy. She kept me updated throughout the visit, which gave me great peace of mind. She is kind, patient, and truly cares about animals. I can definitely see why she’s so highly recommended, and I look forward to having her watch Asparagus again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chevy Chase walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chevy Chase maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chevy Chase choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
