“Summar was absolutely FANTASTIC as our dog sitter this past week. She sent multiple updates per day with adorable pictures of Comet having adventures throughout the day as well as a description of his daily activities. She left us a welcome home note, printed collage of Comet picture from the week, and a treat upon our return! The house was in perfect shape and Comet was a very happy puppy. He LOVED Summar - she has a very natural, outgoing, loving personality that set me and Comet at ease immediately. I will use Summar as often as she is available to dog sit in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Thank you Summar for your thoughtful and attentive care of our beloved pooch Comet!”

“Molly was fantastic! She gave regular updates and handled our dogs with professionalism and care, including reaching out whenever she had a question. Will be booking again!”

“Karachi provided excellent car for dog and home while we were away on vacation. She was very responsive to my messages and she helped to coordinate a trip to the vet when our dog exhibited some health issues. She left our home in great shape. I highly recommend her for both dog and house sitting.”

“She was so nice and took great care of my dog. My dog sometimes is timid among strangers but Heidy made the experience much better and gave me peace of mind knowing he was in great hands. 🌸🌸 10/10 recommend.”

“Gabs did a great job with my pup, Lula Mae. Lu was well cared for and I got great communications & updates. Gabs also left our home spotless, which was much appreciated when I got home from my trip! We look forward to booking with Gabs again in future!”

“Mark always goes above and beyond, leaving your pup (and place) better than he found it. He’s a natural when it comes to dogs. Not only does he provide ample care for your pup, he encourages good behaviors and reinforces training. He will always be my go-to man for dog sitting, as both my dog and I adore him. Thanks for all you do Mark!”

“Walter watched both of my dogs while out of town for a week and he was terrific! He was easy to get a hold of, provided great daily report cards, followed instructions, and left my place clean! My dogs loved him and felt very comfortable with him! Absolutely recommend 😀”

“We were VERY pleased with Jony. It was a last minute booking for an unexpected trip. He came to meet our dog and go over house/animal instructions beforehand. When he stayed at our house he left it cleaner than when he arrived! He took excellent care of our 10 yr old rescue German Shepherd and our chinchilla. Communication was excellent. We will definitely book with him again.”

“Vitaly was fantastic! He carefully followed the instructions and feeding and walking schedule. He took great care of the very senior dog that required mobility assistance and is a bit incontinent. I look forward to hiring Vitaly again.”
About: I'm the woman taking an evening walk and asking if I can say Hi! to your dog. Two dogs - one as a child, the second 35 years later - were among the most important relationships of my life. No offence to family and friends. The second was a Black Lab and taking him on his evening walk in a local park in Moscow was the best part of every day. I'm retired and walk for pleasure anyhow. I am the servant of Dasha, a rescue cat with more personality than good sense, who is willing to let me spend nights away to take care of your beloved dog or cat. Friends and family have already benefited from my "service" - and now you can too. I'm retired, with a schedule that is my own to make. I'm only looking for Rover duties in the 20814 and nearby zip codes that I can get to easily and quickly. Daily activities include daily walks and almost daily lap swimming, lots of reading, too much scrolling, and occasional editing and writing gigs. Oh, and playing with my cat Dasha. When staying over for your dog, I'd live at your place and visit Dasha for a few hours daily. I'd travel with my laptop and pretty much do at yours what I do at mine. Schedules and a certain amount of order and a base line of cleanliness - that's my approach to caring for my four-legged family, whether cats or dogs. I expect dogs to need attention and I'll give it. Though we lived in an apartment in Moscow, our Black Lab Jasper enjoyed the life of Riley, with 3-4 walks a day to nearby parks. The rest of the day he spent following us from room to room, positioning himself strategically so he always could see one of us at all times. Cats, of course, are different; I wait for Dasha to emerge from wherever she's "hiding" to let me know when she wants to be played with, brushed, petted. If this is your pet - great. If not, I'll adapt to that, too!
“Kimberlee has been so wonderful! My babies love her so much! They are not affection starved when I get home. She also helped me and continued to care for my dogs when I was stranded at the airport because of flight cancellations.”

“I have no complaints. Erica was a delight and she was very communicative with text and pictures so we knew that the they were comfortable. She asked a lot of questions to ensure that she understood everything that we where asking and delivered. I highly recommend her.”

“Melissa did a fantastic job housesitting our two dogs! Our dogs took an immediate liking to her. She sent us daily updates and pictures. She also took great care of our home. I would highly recommend her!”

“This was our first Rover experience and our sitter did not disappoint. Xena was wonderful with our husky. She was punctual and communicative throughout the evening. We look forward to having her return for our next event.”

“Claire was thoughtful, thorough, kind, caring and just loving with Hayden. She followed all my notes and texted me regularly. I am looking forward to Claire looking after Hayden again in the future!”

“Trisha was fantastic! She took care of my two cats and large dog and all seemed happy! She sent videos and pictures and left my home spotless! I highly recommend her services.”

“Annah was AMAZING!! She took great care of our 2 dogs and sent us the best pictures ever. We could tell she truly cared for our boys and made sure we were always updated on the day! We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter”

“Kai was amazing with our dogs. Rafa is usually slow to warm but he like Kai right away. And when these tourists got lost and were so late he stayed well after the agreed time. He did great walking them and keeping them entertained.”

“Sharon did an amazing job with Wrigley! She sent updates with out an asking along with great photos. She left my mace cleaner than she found it. She also left a nice little package for Wrigley when she left including some great photos and a very sweet card! I highly recommend Sharon and will definitely use again.”

Alexa took great care of my cat, was so communicative and sent great pictures that communicated how comfortable my pet was with her. She left my apartment in amazing shape after staying for a few days! I am so happy I booked with her, and would book again in a heartbeat. Thanks for everything!

Lauren was an absolutely terrific Dog Sitter!! She was genuinely excited to be with our 3 fur babies, treated them as if they were her own, asked lots of questions and followed our directions to the letter. One of our pups had a medical emergency and Lauren could not have been more attentive and caring and compassionate. She went out of her way to take our pup to the vet, made sure he had all of his medications, and then ultimately taking him to the vet emergency hospital, all the while, caring for our other two pups as well. She went above and beyond and we are eternally grateful. She’s the best!

I am tempted to skip a review because I want to keep Summar all to ourselves! She is absolutely wonderful. Despite my being an anxious person, I never feel any worry leaving my beloved Comet with Summar. He is thrilled to hang out with her and seems equally happy with her or with us! Summar takes perfect care of our house, including emptying dehumidifiers, taking in/out the garbage cans, coordinating a visit from a contractor and cleaning service, watering plants, etc, etc. She cares for Comet like he is her own pup. I feel so lucky to have Summar as our pet sitter... and hope my gushing reviews don't let the secret of her amazingness spread too wide!

Karachi We are so grateful for the amazing care our little angel received. From the moment we arrived home, it was clear how much attention and love she had been given. The studio was spotless, the sheets had been washed, and everything was perfectly organized. These thoughtful details meant so much to us. Most importantly, we could tell that Gini was happy, comfortable, and well cared for during her stay. Thank you for treating her like family. She means the world to us, and we would not hesitate to book again. Highly recommended!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Bethesda on Rover is $56.61 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 10,820 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Bethesda. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bethesda walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bethesda maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bethesda choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
