About: As a fellow dog and cat owner, I love giving clients peace of mind when traveling, working late, shuffling schedules and more. ** Boarding requests: meet & greets required prior to overnight stays to ensure your dog is comfortable with my dog & cat, who are both docile, well-adjusted to other dogs. Thank you! Schedule: I’m a teacher who will be home for summer break so as long as my calendar is open on Rover, I am available! Full availability: June 19-August 9. Limited availability after August 9. Experience: I have experience with small to large dogs, special diets, giving medication, post-surgery care, cats, and more. Full availability until mid-August, then limited to weekends and evenings as needed. Once the school year begins I’m available in the mornings between 7-8 for drop-ins, and after 5pm for drop ins or walks during the week. I live in apartment adjacent to the east Bethesda neighborhood so we walk in the suburbs 2-3 times a day. Pets are fine on all pet beds, couches and human beds alike.
About: I'm the woman taking an evening walk and asking if I can say Hi! to your dog. Two dogs - one as a child, the second 35 years later - were among the most important relationships of my life. No offence to family and friends. The second was a Black Lab and taking him on his evening walk in a local park in Moscow was the best part of every day. I'm retired and walk for pleasure anyhow. I am the servant of Dasha, a rescue cat with more personality than good sense, who is willing to let me spend nights away to take care of your beloved dog or cat. Friends and family have already benefited from my "service" - and now you can too. I'm retired, with a schedule that is my own to make. I'm only looking for Rover duties in the 20814 and nearby zip codes that I can get to easily and quickly. Daily activities include daily walks and almost daily lap swimming, lots of reading, too much scrolling, and occasional editing and writing gigs. Oh, and playing with my cat Dasha. When staying over for your dog, I'd live at your place and visit Dasha for a few hours daily, as well as go out for errands and laps at the Y pool. I expect dogs to need attention and I'll give it. Though we lived in an apartment in Moscow, our Black Lab Jasper enjoyed the life of Riley, with walks at nearby parks. Most of the day he spent following us from room to room, positioning himself strategically so he always could see one of us at all times. Cats, of course, are different; I wait for Dasha to emerge from wherever she's "hiding" to let me know when she wants to be played with, brushed, petted. If this is your pet - great. If not, I'll adapt to that, too!
About: I've taken care of my family's pets ever since I was old enough to hold a leash. I've walked dogs, taken care of sick cats, and cleaned out hamster cages. I've often been hired to pet-sit for neighborhood and family friends. I have experience helping dogs and cats take pills and I feel very comfortable handling larger breeds of dogs. Hi! I'm currently getting my PhD at American University so my schedule is quite flexible as I only have classes a few times a week. I'm available early mornings, nights, weekends, and sporadically throughout the day. I'm able to visit your pets daily, take them outside, and care for them in the best manner possible, but I do not offer boarding animals in my flat.
“Rachel was wonderful! She was friendly, warm, and caring and did a great job watching our two sweet kitties. Great communication and pics sent as well. She will be our go-to moving forward!”

“Sharon was a truly wonderful sitter for my cat! She was always a fast responder and very reliable and caring. She even brought one of her own cat toys to entertain my pet. Would highly recommend her great service!”

“We had a fantastic experience and really appreciated Elizabeth’s attention to our cats, and detailed updates to me. I felt confident they were well cared for during my time away and appreciated that she spent time to keep them company in addition to feeding them.”

“Larquana was great with our 2 cats! She played with them and even our scaredy let her pet him. She was consistent with photos, updates, and general communication. Much appreciated!”

“Jony is a great sitter— communicative, responsive, friendly, and professional. We’re grateful he was available on such short notice and that he cared for our cats like they were his own. We especially appreciated the pictures and updates that showed each cat’s personality.”

“Sam was wonderful. We needed someone to take care of our dog on relatively short notice for a cross country trip for the holidays and Sam was not only able to come check on and walk her twice a day but when we unexpectedly needed Luna out of the house for a few days, Sam was able to bring her home as well. Really excellent caretaker, flexible, and we will absolutely keep Sam in mind for all future needs!”

About: I’ve had dogs for most of my life and have extensive experience caring for them. I regularly walk, feed, and care for my own rescue dog, giving me hands-on experience with daily routines and different behavioral needs. I’ve also helped neighbors and family members care for their dogs, including walking, feeding, and providing companionship while they were away. In addition, I’ve attended dog training classes, where I learned effective leash-handling techniques and positive reinforcement methods. I’m a reliable, fast learner who is committed to providing attentive, compassionate care so your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I have a very flexible schedule, so I'm able to care for your pups anytime, morning, evening, or night. I am able to spend as much time with your dog as you desire. I will exercise, feed, entertain, and love your dog daily. I will never walk your dog off leash and will follow any instructions you give me.
“Amanda was amazing with our 7 month golden retriever puppy! I was traveling for work and needed someone to come by twice a day to take our pup out and we were really happy with Amanda. She was very communicative and we appreciated her updates after each visit.”

“Carolina is amazing! Multiple photos and videos were sent during each visit, which was incredibly reassuring. During their time caring for my cats, Carolina was even able to get my very shy cat to come out and play. I would highly recommend Carolina to anyone looking for a reliable and caring cat sitter!”

About: Hello! I'm Ellie and am available for occasional walking & drop-in visits. I love dogs and have been doing river for the last 5 years! I can also board and do doggy daycare (I do own a medium sized 10 year old Thurman as well but he loves new buddies!). I have 2 dog loving kids so for all boarding clients - dogs need to be kid-friendly. I love dogs - I will take them on long walks and plenty of playtime/pets! I've always loved dogs and used to volunteer with dogs at animal shelters and I used to work for a pet sitting company where I took care of all types of dogs and cats on the regular! Right now I welcome all sizes and I used to own large Goldens growing up :) Let me know if you have any questions! I am fully available right now for morning, afternoon and evening visits/walks. Weekly Monday through Friday (some weekends too). I love dogs and look forward to meeting furry friends!! I have an unfenced backyard but will keep any dog on a leash anytime we go outside. I will take them on walks around my neighborhood.
About: As a dog walker, my specialty is to take pups out into nature. As I've been doing for 10+ years now, my service allows my dogs to grow and learn with each other amongst the sights and sounds of natural neighborhood trails. Offering socialization, training routines, in-depth interaction and lots of physical exercise, when I take dogs out to the trail I treat them as my own. I am typically active Tues-Thurs, with Monday and Friday being flexible. My two services are: -Traditional morning/evening solo walks, 30-60 min (flexible price around $40) - Midday group hikes offering pups the opportunity to get out during the work day for a thorough, active and holistic experience. Hikes are 60 min, complete with additional car ride and cleanup. (flexible price around $55) For the service I offer, any pup that comes along quickly learns the rhythms of our activity. I've been described by friends as somewhat of a dog whisperer, and nothing brings me more joy than developing a mutual understanding between dogs wherein they get to have fun as long as they adhere to clearly established rules and modes of communication.

“Cynthia helped us out last minute, was incredibly responsive and took great care of Felix in our absence. I would definitely book her again and recommend her highly. Thank you Cynthia!”
About: I've been around dogs my entire life. I have experience with different breeds and ages. I am very flexible when it comes to scheduling. I can provide two long walks each day and make sure your dog is happy while you are gone! Not only do I have experience with small dogs, but I have boarded many large dogs and even had a Husky as a kid so I understand the energy level of large dogs. I can easily provide walks, often potty breaks, and anything you need to make sure your dog is comfortable while you are away. When it comes to food, I've used wet food, dry food, and raw food so I understand the different preferences and how to serve it! I am a teacher so I have open availability during the summertime! My summer (and school year) is dedicated to taking care of animals and making sure their needs are met. Starting in August I am away during the day but can still provide care. I treat all animals like they are my own. Your pets safety is my first priority! I live in an apartment so walks are frequent. Many pets can become sad or anxious when their owner is away so I am sure to be there for them to ease the vacation.

Sunny enjoyed another wonderful week with Evan. He’s very observant with Sunny’s mood and energy level and adjusts her walk accordingly. He knows how to entice Sunny to get up and move around so she can get her daily steps in. Always very appreciative of his help with my senior dog!

Caden was great and super flexible while pet sitting my three pets on short notice!! My dog is very shy/reactive and he was very accommodating and understanding of what she needed to be introduced. Caden took thorough and kind care of my two cats and one dog, was timely, and kept my apartment in excellent shape. I’ve never seen such a neat litter box!! I’m excited to hire him again.

Claire immediately made me feel at ease leaving my anxious dog and temperamental cat! They responded so well to her, and her patience and kindness were palpable. She was so communicative and responsive to my pets’ needs, I hope I get the pleasure of booking her again!

Catherine took wonderful care of my dogs and even my hamster, Henry, during her time with them! She did multiple check-ins throughout, sending regular updates and photos each time, and it was clear the pets adored her. My home was left spotless, and when one of my dogs got unexpectedly sick, she went above and beyond to help clean up without being asked. That level of care and attentiveness really stood out to me. I'll absolutely be booking with her again and recommending her to anyone looking for a sitter they can trust with their pets.

Justin stayed in our home for five days and cared for our two dogs and two cats while we were away. We have a fairly complicated pet situation, including an older dog who can be wary of strangers and requires medication, as well as two cats living on different levels of the house, one of whom also needs medication. We had never left all of our pets for this length of time before, so it was important to find someone we could trust. Justin communicated well throughout our trip, kept us updated, and handled our pets’ routines and medication schedules responsibly. He managed a lot of moving parts and took good care of the animals and our home while we were away. We appreciated his reliability and the peace of mind he provided during our first extended time away from our pets.
Ashley is incredible! She sent lots of updates and photos while she watched my dog Lincoln for a long weekend. She was also very good about communicating a small concern she had about him and I appreciated her taking the time to notice it and reach out to me about it. I would rebook and recommend Ashley time and time again!
Kae is literally the person I was hoping to find on here! He is kind, thoughtful, conscientious, communicative, and flexible. He is amazing with the animals and is careful to ask questions if he doesn’t understand something. You can always tell a true animal lover when you meet one! Kay goes above and beyond. I am so happy to have found him and trust him 100% to take good care of our animal crew when I’m away!

Summar is one of the most conscientious, dedicated and pleasant people I know. Her enthusiasm for caring for the pets is heart felt, and she naturally exudes the confidence that she can take care of whatever needs attention while taking care of your furry family and your home. When I couldn’t walk my most energetic dog due to recent surgery - a last minute thing - Summar broke away from her other obligations as time permitted to assist. I can honestly say she’s the real deal (it was with some hesitation that I wanted to share how remarkable this young lady is insofar as it might invite competition for her schedule).

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking.
