Youyou took excellent care of my two cats. While I was away, I never once worried about their well-being. During her check-ins she sent tons of photos with detailed accounts of their activities. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!

Teodora was so great and relieved my stress about having to go to work right after my foster pup was neutered. She had excellent communication and sent lots of pictures. She made sure his cone was still intact and he got all the cuddles during their hour together. I will continue to book with Teodora if I end up adopting this sweet little guy :)

About: I've pet sit for my friends dogs and have raised a corgi puppy from 10 weeks old! I love dogs and will treat yours like mine. I have a playful and friendly corgi who plays well with all dogs. Plus I give excellent scratches. I will send a bunch of photos, as long as you don’t mind me spamming you with them! We do at least 3 walks a day, dog parks after work, and fun adventures on the weekends. Normally we eat breakfast around 8:30, go for a potty walk, and play. During the weekday, I take them out every 4 hours and do mental puzzles at home. If the weather is nice, we will go to a nearby dog park. On weekends, we tend to go out for outdoor adventures if the weather is nice I live in an apartment with ample walking nearby. Super dog friendly neighborhood. We have space to set up crates if needed. I am a neat person and will clean up after myself and the dogs.

Juan is AMAZING!! He went above and beyond with communication and over all care! My pup has special meds and Juan had no problem with it when feeding breakfast and dinner(: Juan went out of his way to go to a pet store to grab a sweater for my pup because it was cold out during their walks 🥹 It was so comforting to know Brody was with someone who goes the extra mile!! 10000% recommend!!!

About: Ever since I was little, I have been known to care extra for the animals and creatures around me. I can remember helping out with family friends' dog, cat, or horse feedings fairly early on in my life. I have petsitting experience as well as internship experience at Ark Veterinarian Hospital, where I completed a 6-week full-time internship shadowing Dr. Kate Connell 2 years ago. I was able to work with some amazing technicians and doctors. I was even able to observe a few orthopedic surgeries. Now I can say that I have worked with all sorts of dogs and cats in varying medical and behavioral states. I feel incredibly grateful for the experience. I have pets of my own; my family dog Cabot (a Welsh Springer Spaniel) lives with my dad in Middlebury, and my cat Somtso (a beautiful longhair rescue) lives with me between Pennsylvania and Virginia. My family and I have cared for Cabot for over 7 years now, and sweet Somtso for over 5. I am a full-time college student going into my senior academic year at Dickinson College and am curious about fun ways I could save some money this summer. Let me know if you have any specific questions! Summers are the best time for bookings. Between semesters I have full time flexibility to accommodate a variety of bookings and locations. Working for rover allows me to organize my hours in a way that is best for me and my clients. I live with roommates on campus, and alternate between living spaces when I am home, so having pets stay with me is not something I am able to accommodate at this time. I would love to be able to care for your pets elsewhere. I can do anything from long walks or games of fetch to tire an excited pup out, light training and feedings, and any help with medication or supplement schedules.

About: I've walked dogs thru every stage of my life: for neighbors, friends of friends, professional dog walking companies, etc. I've owned 2 wonderful elderly rescue dogs. Whether it's my dog or a client's, I always take care of the dog. If they're asking for calm and reassurance or for sprinting fields up and down, they're not asking for much so I never deny them. Each dog is different, and each is a little soul, so why not take care of them? Dogs are def my favorite people ;) I have total control over my schedule currently so routine or ad hoc walks are up my alley. I'm also a night owl, know my neighborhood best thru the peaceful 1am walks I had with my dog, lately passed away from cancer. I've walked dogs before with 'eccentric' schedules for clients such as nurses. I live in an apartment building. My former dog being corgi, she had no problem safely chilling with me on the balcony on a warm day. My current pet being a cat, I wage a constant but winnable war to keep her from slipping out onto the balcony, at least until I can construct a functioning safe "catio." I do use the balcony to feed birds however, which provides her with hours of entertainment inside watching what I call "cat TV." The balcony wall is all glass and faces south therefore getting sun all day. Dog or cat, they enjoy a nice grooming with a Furminator brush while they enjoy sun napping.

About: Raised by a Bichon! Long walks, lots of fetch, and endless cuddles are my love language. I know what it takes to care for high-maintenance dogs with the right instructions — and I’m here to give your dog the same TLC when you’re away. I have a flexible schedule and live near the area. I love spending my time with animals, I enjoy going on walks as much as the doggos haha I live in an apartment right next to a doggy park and some areas with grass which is great for walks! I do not live with a pet.

About: I have owned dogs and cats my whole entire life. I have dog-watched for neighbors since I was about 12 years old. I am very loving towards animals and am skilled in washing and walking them. There is nothing better than getting to hang out with animals as they provide an unmatched love in our lives. I currently own two disabled dogs so I like to think no challenge is too big or too small. I enjoy dogs and cats of all sizes. I am very good with time management so I plan to work with you to make sure your pet is getting the best attention while you are away from home. I appreciate your time in considering me for the jobs! I work a remote 9-5 so most evenings I am open but I am willing to schedule something out between work and your pet if you need me mid day I listen to the energy the animal is giving off. I try my best to clear myself of negative feelings and stress so the animals feel more at ease amongst my presence

Aislyn was wonderful with our puppy Scout. She was super responsive, on-time, and provided great pictures and write-ups of our visit. That was especially important to us as Scout is our first puppy and we were nervous about leaving her home alone for the first time. Scout always looked so happy in the pictures and when we came home from work!

About: My childhood dog was obsessed with my dad, so I didn't *truly* embrace my love of dogs until I moved in with an anxious, expressive Weimaraner 15 years ago. Beyond walking and sitting my sweet "furnephew," I have cared for a sassy Chihuahua, a paranoid bowling ball (aka Pitbull), a ball-obsessed Jack Russell mix, and a shy English Springer. Most significantly, I co-owned a stubborn, aloof Shiba Inu for more than four years, starting at 9 weeks. He taught me a special appreciation for reactive, highly-vigilant, and misunderstood dogs. I was accustomed to writing detailed instructions to make sure my sensitive boy felt comfortable and safe with any walker or sitter. I work mostly from home, and I'm looking to fit in sitting and walking engagements into my downtime to get my dog fix. I will also be available some evenings and weekends. I live in a dog-free building, but I am ready to take care of your pet in your home to fit your needs. I'm comfortable crating dogs as you deem necessary, letting the dog roam in a fenced-in yard, playing with a variety of toys in your home, or taking your dogs on walks with my full attention.

About: For 11 years I was a Yorkie’s mom ( her name was Mimi) and for 17 years and 8 months a Shorkie’s mom (his name was Apollo). Now my precious babies crossed the rainbow Mimi in January 2024 then Apollo joined her over the rainbow on November 2025 and I miss them so very much.. I am an accountant and I am working part time from home and missing my furry babies terribly. So, I would love to help you care for your doggies. I absolutely love animals specially dogs and I have a special place in my heart for them. I care for pets as if they were my own, always prioritizing their safety, comfort, needs and routine. During walks, I use properly fitted collars or harnesses and I always listen to the dog’s needs and I let them choose their route and pace, always making sure they are away from harm’s way. With Mimi and Apollo I always said: “I don’t walk them they walk me”.

About: Hi! I have grown up with German Shepherds all my life - mine are currently 2 and 3, so high energy! I have petsit all sizes and am open to working with all dogs. Comfort level with 1-2 dogs at a time, most open to walks and checking in. Happy to practice tricks and training with dogs, I work with my own dogs and used to work in behavioral research so I am familiar with reinforcements. I currently work full-time during the day with a commute. I am open to weeknight petsitting but would need to discuss what works best for my schedule so your pet gets all the love and attention they need! Most available on weekends I have a fenced yard that my two German Shepherds play in. I also walk them, one at a time, on a leash. Mine are very excitable, so I work with them on leash training so they are not pulling and do not bark at other dogs.

About: I’ve been around pets for a majority of my life! I’ve have had a mini golden doodle (Bella) for 8 years and introduced our cat (Silvia) 3 years ago. A little passion of mine is teaching my dog little tricks, and I really enjoy getting to understand animals in general. I’ve fostered dogs for short periods, dog sat, dog walked, and have babysat for 6 years. I love caring for others and providing your pets with a comfortable environment, one you trust. I work 9-3 (sometimes 9-5) coaching kids tennis camps during the weekdays and am available during the weekends. On work days I can walk or drop-in in the mornings before I head out and first thing when I’m done, then later in the evening before bed. I’m happy to dog sit in the pets home any day, I would just be leaving early morning if it’s a weekend. I focus on keeping their routine consistent by following feeding schedules, providing fresh water, giving them attention and enrichment, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I respect your home and your pets individual needs. I’m happy to provide updates and pictures to give you peace of mind that your pet is taken care of.

About: I’m a pre-vet student who just graduated from UVA and has grown up with two large dogs! I’ve also recently owned a hamster from a college lab! I have a lot of experience dog and cat sitting for friends and family including puppies, kittens, and senior dogs and cats. I also have about 100 hours of dog walking experience from a shelter so I am comfortable with reactive/fearful/energetic dogs, and another 100 from shadowing at a vet practice. I am currently looking for a vet assistant job so my schedule is open 7 days a week! I am used to all day pet sitting. I always make sure that I understand the instructions that I’m given and maintain clear communication with the owner if I have any questions. I never make any assumptions and always make sure that the owner is comfortable with any decisions that need to be made.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a McLean stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in McLean choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in McLean with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in McLean. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
