“Laura was fantastic! Our German Shepherd received exceptional care from her. We appreciated the frequent updates that reassured us our pet was doing wonderfully. It's clear Laura genuinely cares. After 8 years of using Rover and trying many sitters, Laura stands out as the best. Thanks again, Laura, for taking great care of our girl!”

“Harley was so happy to go back to Jennifer and her wonderful family for a long weekend. He gets showered with love by Jennifer, her sweet daughter Ramsey, and Grandmom Anne! I’m so happy he gets a happy easy-going doggy friend in Khali, and experience with Pursey the cat. It’s so nice knowing that he is so beautifully cared for. Jennifer was extra kind this time, giving him medicine and more walks since he couldn’t run around her spacious front yard due to a healing injury. We love getting updates and adorable pictures throughout his time there. I’m not sure Harley really wanted to leave!”

“This is Kobe’s 2nd time boarding with Kevin and his family! Wonderful hosts, Kobe almost didn’t want to leave and went back in the house to say goodbye :). Will definitely book with Kevin again!”

“Amazing caregivers! My dog had a fantastic staycation and they treated my pup like family. Fantastic communications and timely updates. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM 😊👍🏻”

“Shizuka was an incredible sitter for Mayo, and I cannot recommend her enough! She took such wonderful care of him and made sure he felt right at home during his stay. I especially appreciated how communicative she was, sending frequent photos and videos so I could see how much fun Mayo was having. It was so reassuring to see him playing in the backyard and enjoying his neighborhood walks. She noticed how much Mayo enjoyed playing dog puzzle games to find his treats. She even went above and beyond by making a sweet personalized gift—a keychain with a cartoon version of Mayo on it! Mayo came home happy, well-fed, and clearly well-loved. If you are looking for a sitter who is attentive, kind, and truly treats your dog like family, Shizuka is the one!”

“Leah took wonderful care of our dog when we were out of town! It was our first time leaving the dog with someone on Rover, and she went above and beyond to keep us in the loop on how she was doing, and sent us pictures. We will definitely be wanting to book Leah again in the future!”

“Loreen’s place is perfect for a small dog who likes kids and one other dog. My dog Mochi had a great time at her place (I could tell), and she came back very happy and healthy. I like how they have an enclosed backyard, and a very clean house. Loreen took lots of pictures and updated me just the right amount. I will definitely be requesting Loreen again.”

“My senior dog Bella had a wonderful time with Katerine and Brian, who took excellent care of her. They were very conscientious about her special needs.”

“Nadia & her family took great care of my 2yo Canaan. They have a big backyard & took her for more walks than we ever do! Honestly our pup may have been sad to leave! Great communication & would definitely reach out again.”

“As usual, Musa was fantastic! He always updates us with photos of Rex and on how Rex is doing. Most importantly, Rex so enjoys staying with Musa. If Musa is available we will always have Rex stay with him. Definitely would highly recommend him.”

“Karen was amazing with my dog. From the minute we had a meet and great I knew my dog would be safe and happy with her. Taco stayed for 5 days and during that time we received lots of videos and texts. I will definitely use Karen again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for doggie day care”

“One of the best experiences I had on Rover. She sent pictures of my dog unprovoked and I loved it. I will definitely recommend her and will be sending my dog to her again.”

“Isabelle and her family took wonderful care of Dash! They were very responsive and sent lots of pictures. Her mom especially is a sweetheart and it was clear he was loved on the whole time! I would trust him with them again in a heartbeat.”

“I can’t talk more highly about Cindy, Franklin‘s sitter. She treated my Franklin like it was her own dog. I highly recommend her and you will have no worries. She sends updates and pictures.”

“Diana did an incredible job taking care of Roxie! I was away on a long trip and I felt at ease knowing Roxie was in great hands. I received daily pictures and videos and Roxie looked so happy and comfortable. I highly recommend Diana and plan on using her again in the future!”

“Isai was great to work with for my dog. Just a short stay this time but he was easy to coordinate drop off and having a friend pick Watson up at the end. I felt that Watson was in good hands.”

“Ron and Loki took care of my dog Alfie for the weekend while I dropped off my oldest for college. Knowing Alfie was in good hands and getting his pictures everyday from Ron really eased everyone’s stress for the whole weekend. Thank you so much! Thank you also for being flexible and understanding of a later pickup at night (almost 9!) - traffic was awful in some parts of the drive home.”

“Brandi is the absolute best. I know my dog is in great hands when she is boarding with her. She provides updates/photos and provides our dog with tremendous care and attention!”

Yiting and Robert watched my puppy Buck for almost 2 weeks and I could not have asked for better care. My dog was having such a fantastic time, that it completely changed my outlook on owning a puppy. I knew they’d be fantastic when she asked me if it’d be okay to cook my puppy a dog-safe empanada. He was so spoiled!!! Every day I would get Instagram worthy (Yiting is a picture taking LEGEND) pictures of Buck on walks, meeting new people, cuddling with other dogs, even getting boba and a sheet mask! I realized that my dog was having the time of his life running around in the sun with other dogs and in nature, and realized that he deserved a life that I wasn’t able to provide, that was even remotely that fun and exciting. I have since decided to rehome him to a place with a huge yard and lots of other dogs, and he’s SO SO excited to be with his new family. I can only hope that he gets a percentage of the wonderful care that Yiting and Robert showed him. I genuinely loved every moment of my booking with them, and they are the loveliest people who genuinely care and go beyond the extra mile for every dog they handle, and to reassure dog owners how they are doing during their stay. (I have endless footage of my puppy that I shared with EVERYONE I spoke to while I was away). Yiting and Robert are THE best of the best!!!

Ansley did a great job watching our girls over the weekend. She sent us many updates, pictures and notes throughout the day. She was very accommodating about our last minute delay which was an added peace of mind. She has a fenced yard for the pups which was a massive bonus! We’ll definitely work with her again.

Sush was fantastic! She had us over for a meet & greet the weekend before our booking. She was interested in all of the details of care for our senior dog and was willing to do the extra things to make her comfortable. And also her home has a large backyard! Maggie was very happy with her stay and I appreciated Sush!

YI was absolutely wonderful with Jujube and Gnocchi! They had such a great time and even made some new furry friends during their stay. It made me so happy to receive regular updates and photos while I was traveling—it really gave me peace of mind knowing they were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I could tell they were having a wonderful time! I’m so grateful for the care and attention YI gave them and would definitely recommend YI to anyone looking for a loving and trustworthy sitter!! ❤️

Shirley was absolutely wonderful with my pug, Daisy! I reached out pretty last minute, and she was incredibly quick to respond and so accommodating, which immediately took a huge weight off my shoulders. Throughout the weekend, Shirley sent lots of pictures and videos of Daisy, and I loved getting to see how she was doing and how comfortable and happy she looked. She kept me updated without me ever having to ask, which made it so much easier to relax and enjoy my weekend knowing Daisy was in great hands. You can tell Shirley genuinely cares about the pets she watches and treats them like her own. She was attentive, reliable, communicative, and just overall such a pleasure to work with. Daisy came home happy and well cared for, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would absolutely trust Shirley with Daisy again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone dependable and caring to watch their fur baby! 🐾💕

This was the second time Roxanna cared for our dog Jea, and once again she exceeded every expectation. She keeps us updated throughout the stay, and clearly understands dog behavior and comfort. Jea settled in quickly and came home calm, well‑exercised, and clearly loved. Roxanna’s reliability and kindness make her an exceptional caregiver. We trust her completely and highly recommend her to anyone looking for top‑tier pet care. Thank you again, Roxanna!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
