About: I’m a pre-vet student who just graduated from UVA and has grown up with two large dogs! I’ve also recently owned a hamster from a college lab! I have a lot of experience dog and cat sitting for friends and family including puppies, kittens, and senior dogs and cats. I also have about 100 hours of dog walking experience from a shelter so I am comfortable with reactive/fearful/energetic dogs, and another 100 from shadowing at a vet practice. I just got a vet assistant job so usually it requires me to be away for 6 hours! I can only do all day pet sitting on Wednesdays and Sundays which I have off! I always make sure that I understand the instructions that I’m given and maintain clear communication with the owner if I have any questions. I never make any assumptions and always make sure that the owner is comfortable with any decisions that need to be made.
About: For 11 years I was a Yorkie’s mom ( her name was Mimi) and for 17 years and 8 months a Shorkie’s mom (his name was Apollo). Now my precious babies crossed the rainbow Mimi in January 2024 then Apollo joined her over the rainbow on November 2025 and I miss them so very much.. I am an accountant and I am working part time from home and missing my furry babies terribly. So, I would love to help you care for your doggies. I absolutely love animals specially dogs and I have a special place in my heart for them. I care for pets as if they were my own, always prioritizing their safety, comfort, needs and routine. During walks, I use properly fitted collars or harnesses and I always listen to the dog’s needs and I let them choose their route and pace, always making sure they are away from harm’s way. With Mimi and Apollo I always said: “I don’t walk them they walk me”.
“Amanda was great in looking after our two cats while we were out on vacation. Everything went super smoothly, and Amanda even went beyond what we discussed in giving Brownie and Gravy some play time. Would definitely recommend.”

“Elise gave great regular updates while she checked in on my cat while I was gone. Her questions and info gave me the confidence to not have to worry while away, and I returned home to a happy cat and tidy food and litter areas. I'll definitely look to book Elise again next time.”

About: Hello! I'm Valentina! I have experience caring for pets of different ages and needs, including my 10 year old cat and my sister’s 4 year old dog. Most recently, I cared for a Giant Schnauzer puppy right through his crazy growth spurt, from the day he came home at 3 months old all the way until he was 7 months old! Working with a high energy, big pup takes a lot of patience, consistency, and structure, so I kept him on a solid daily routine with twice a day walks to burn off that puppy energy and practice good leash manners. I’m also a very active person and genuinely enjoy being outdoors, walking, and staying on the move, so I love being able to bring that energy and enthusiasm into caring for pets. I have a flexible schedule and am generally available for walks and drop-in visits in the morning from 7:30 to 9:30 AM and in the afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. I’m happy to be flexible and work around your pet’s routine whenever possible. A little advance notice is always appreciated so I can plan my day and make sure I can give your pup the time, care, and attention they deserve. I love caring for pets in their own homes, where they can stay comfortable and stick to their familiar routine. I find that pets tend to feel more relaxed and at ease in their own space, especially when their owners are away. I’m happy to follow their normal routine, whether that includes feeding, walks, playtime, or any special instructions, and I’ll make sure they receive plenty of love, attention, and care while you’re away.
“Tricia was excellent with our large dogs! This was our first time leaving the dogs at home and I was nervous but Tricia made me feel so relaxed and comfortable! She was on time every time and sent me pictures and notes. We were very happy we met Tricia and will definitely rebook with her again without a doubt!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was young, and animals have always been a big part of my life. I’m currently a live-in nanny, and I also care for the family’s dogs. When their owners are away, the dogs stay with me and even sleep in my room so they feel safe and comfortable. I currently work part-time as a live-in nanny, which allows me some flexibility for pet care. However, I do have a busy schedule with regular dog-walking clients, so availability can vary. Please message me first to confirm scheduling before booking. I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs if I have an open time slot. I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment for every pet in my care. I carefully follow each dog’s routine, feeding instructions, and any special requirements provided by the owner.

About: I have pet sat for my neighbors since I was 15 years old, professionally so for a collective 8 years. (from childhood to today totalling 21 years) I grew up with at least one dog in my parents household, loved both our family dogs through their senior years and beyond. I am pet cpr/ first aide certified, currently own a 9 year old Grey Domestic short hair cat, Thor, and my 28 year old horse, Riley. I am looking to head back to school for veterinary medicine with focus on large animal sports medicine/orthopedics. Eventually mixed practice too. In the horse world, I have 33 years under my belt, with my godmother introducing me at age 3. I am passionate about pet care, large and small. Most experience with cats, dogs, and horses and looking to expand. From the toy breeds of canine, to the extra large goofs, I enjoy caring for your loved ones as if they were my own. Shy guys? No problem! I take my time letting them get to know me without offense. Need a little extra help on training homework from your professional training team? Walk me through and I am more than happy to continue with their routine. I'm a softie for seniors. Looking forward to meeting you all and your pets! Available for walks, pop ins now! Currently in the process of signing up to renew my pet cpr and first aid certification. And I hope to start vet med prerequisites online at NoVA Community College. The later I am able to balance with all the attention on your pets. My neighborhood is nearby Scott's Run, Great Falls Park and Riverbend Park here in McLean and Geat Falls, Virginia. If ok with pet parents, I can take them for a walk (one at a time) during in home boarding. We don't have a fenced yard but our neighborhood offers plenty of walk routes. At client's home, I try to keep our walks with in the neighborhood and no socializing due to safety, even if your pup knows a neighbor's pup.

About: I provide constant care and very flexible hours! I have lived with my best friend Lucky which I have raised since he was 3 weeks old. He has lived with me for the last 10 years and I hope I gave him the love he deserves as much as I received from him. I don't know many tricks and skills, but I am fairly knowledgeable with potty training and walking. I don't offer many extra skills to go along with taking care of your pals, but I do make sure they are watched constantly and walked properly. I will try to show them an amazing time! I work full time at home so I can keep a consistent schedule! Walks and potty breaks are no problem for me as well as feeding! I like to keep a close watch to make sure their needs are met. I will try to walk often so that the dogs aren't sitting bored at home!
“Byamba is absolutely fantastic! I have two high-energy dogs, and he handles them with ease. He’s incredibly communicative, always keeping me updated, and I never have to worry when they’re in his care. It’s clear that he’s trustworthy and genuinely enjoys spending time with the dogs—mine get so excited every time they see him! I highly recommend Byamba to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.”

About: I've pet sit for my friends dogs and have raised a corgi puppy from 10 weeks old! I love dogs and will treat yours like mine. I have a playful and friendly corgi who plays well with all dogs. Plus I give excellent scratches. I will send a bunch of photos, as long as you don’t mind me spamming you with them! We do at least 3 walks a day, dog parks after work, and fun adventures on the weekends. Normally we eat breakfast around 8:30, go for a potty walk, and play. During the weekday, I take them out every 4 hours and do mental puzzles at home. If the weather is nice, we will go to a nearby dog park. On weekends, we tend to go out for outdoor adventures if the weather is nice I live in an apartment with ample walking nearby. Super dog friendly neighborhood. We have space to set up crates if needed. I am a neat person and will clean up after myself and the dogs.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - McLean
Amanda has cat sat for our senior cat twice now, and went above and beyond both times. Unfortunately, our cat requires an intense medication schedule due to all of the health issues that she’s accumulated over time, which makes it difficult for us owners to travel without worrying about her. Amanda has been able to deliver on that medication schedule with flying colors. We feel so much better and relieved knowing that our needy cat is well taken care of. Thank you, Amanda!

Sarah has watched our cat at least three times now for extended periods of time and has done an excellent job every single time. She goes the extra mile by offering to do things such as watering plants, tidying up, rinsing off dishes, visiting extra days, and we are very appreciative and fortunate to have Sarah helping us, thank you!

Victoria was wonderful with both of my cats. She was caring, attentive, reliable and kept me updated throughout her visits.Even my usually shy cat warmed up and came to her which really showed how gentle and comfortable she made him feel.I felt completely at ease knowing both of my cats were in such good hands. She clearly loves animals and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and well cared for. I would definitely recommend her and would be happy to book her again!

Phoebe has been taking care of our cat, Smokey, for quite some time now, and we couldn’t be happier. She’s reliable, communicative, and always makes sure Smokey is well cared for while we’re away. We really appreciate the thoughtful updates and photos, which give us so much peace of mind. It’s obvious she genuinely cares about the pets she watches, and Smokey is always happy and relaxed when we get home. We trust Phoebe completely and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring pet sitter!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
