“Katy went above and beyond to care for our dog Nelson, especially during all the snowy weather. She played with him indoors and made sure he got exercise even when he didn’t want to spend much time outside. She is amazing!”

“Taylor is patient and kind and was able to get my nervous cat to warm up to her and to seek her out for play and cuddles. Thank you Taylor for the peace of mind you gave us while being away from our cat.”

“Mitzi is such a kind person—professional, thoughtful, and responsive. I’ve now used Mitzi’s services twice and have had a wonderful experience each time. I will definitely continue to use her services in the future. Thank you, Mitzi!”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was young, and animals have always been a big part of my life. I’m currently a live-in nanny, and I also care for the family’s dogs. When their owners are away, the dogs stay with me and even sleep in my room so they feel safe and comfortable. I currently work part-time as a live-in nanny, which allows me some flexibility for pet care. However, I do have a busy schedule with regular dog-walking clients, so availability can vary. Please message me first to confirm scheduling before booking. I’ll always do my best to accommodate your needs if I have an open time slot. I prioritize safety, trust, and a calm environment for every pet in my care. I carefully follow each dog’s routine, feeding instructions, and any special requirements provided by the owner.
“Yiting is absolutely wonderful! My cats are usually very shy and take a long time to warm up to new people, but they trusted her right away — which says everything. She has such a caring and attentive way with them, and I could see they felt comfortable and content in her care. She sent plenty of photos and thoughtful updates, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I’ll definitely be rebooking with Yiting and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and truly caring sitter!”

About: I have been around animals my whole life, horses, dogs, cats, and even fish. Additionally I have been responsible for taking care of dogs since high school and love being around them. I have experience with both puppies and older dogs. Including administering medication. I will treat your dog as if they were my own and provide you as many updates as you like through our your trip. If you have any questions please reach out to me. I have a wonderful older lab that gets along great other dogs (and cats) both young and old. He loves making new friends!
“Elizabeth is extremely communicative and professional. She gives lots of updates and always make sure to let me know of their day. I feel very comfortable leaving and knowing my dog is well cared for.”

“Megan and Erin always take such good care of Beau and he loves them too! We know our pup is in great hands when they watch him or visit him! Would recommend to anyone! They also have a very sweet pup, Biscuit, who also gets along with our dog and is super friendly!”

“I would highly recommend booking with Dana. She was consistent with timing, left my apartment as I had found it, and sent photos of my pet every visit so that I knew she was okay.”
About: I’ve loved dogs for as long as I can remember and grew up with everything from Yorkies to German Shepherds and Goldens. I’ve also cared for dogs on and off since I was 18, from energetic puppies to sweet seniors. I’m currently a stay-at-home mom and, unfortunately, this just isn’t the right time for our family to have a dog of our own. Rover gives me a chance to get some much-needed dog time while giving someone else’s pup a little extra love and attention—which, for me, is a pretty great trade! I really try to meet each dog where they are. If your pup wants a friend to play with, I’m happy to play. If they’re older, shy, or just happiest with some calm company and a good belly rub, I’m equally happy doing that. I pay close attention to behavior and will always communicate if I notice even a subtle change that I think you should know about. I also believe you know your dog better than anyone. I’ll respect your routines, rules, training, and preferences and care for your dog the way you’ve asked me to—not the way I think it should be done. Safety always comes first. Dogs stay securely leashed with me, I avoid interactions with other dogs unless you’ve specifically told me otherwise, keep an eye on what they’re getting into, avoid hot pavement, and double-check doors and gates. I do ask that any history of aggression be shared with me so I can keep both your dog and myself safe. I’m home during the day and have flexible availability for early-morning walks (even before 7!), daytime visits while you’re at work, and evenings. And fair warning: if you’re the kind of dog parent who loves getting pictures, you’ve found the right person. I will happily take a million. 😊 EM As a stay-at-home mom, my schedule is fairly flexible and pet care fits naturally into my day. I’m available for early-morning walks (including before 7 a.m.), daytime walks and drop-ins while you’re at work, and evening visits. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs, so getting outside for a walk or stopping in to give a pup some attention is something I look forward to—not just another task on my schedule. Your pet’s safety and your trust are my top priorities. In your home, I’ll always respect your routines, rules, and instructions—you know your pet best, and I believe their care should stay as familiar and consistent as possible. I’m very safety-conscious. I double-check doors and gates, keep dogs securely leashed on walks, avoid interactions with other dogs unless you’ve specifically told me otherwise, and pay close attention to my surroundings and to your dog’s behavior. I’m also careful about things like hot pavement and anything they may try to pick up along the way. Most importantly, I’ll treat your pet with patience and genuine kindness. Whether they want to play and burn off some energy or just need calm company, affection, and a belly rub, I’m happy to meet them where they are. I’ll also keep you updated and let you know if I notice anything unusual—even a small change in behavior.
“Rebecca helped me out with a last minute booking request and rushed to take care of my boy, for which I’m super grateful! She went above and beyond again with cleaning up after my boy as well as keeping me posted on how he is doing. Thank you, Rebecca!”

“Daniel did great with our shy and cautious dog. He warmed up to him surprisingly quick, which we took as a great sign. Daniel left the home clean and did everything as instructed. His daily drop-in notes were informative and thorough. We would definitely book him again in the future.”

I’m a full time photographer, so I have lots of flexibility in my schedule to take care of your pet. My work is generally in the evenings, so I have the entire day free. “Clara took great care of our dog while we were away for a 4 day weekend. We got updates and pics of his walks / playtime and knew he was quite happy to have Clara keeping him company. She has a very calm demeanor and is great with animals. I would highly recommend Clara.”

Amanda was great as always and even had to deal with us and our door code issues, sorry! Thank you for waiting and being patient. We will definitely reach out to her again and are very grateful for her communication, flexibility, and proper care for Morris. Thanks!

Jennifer is a very great pet sitter! My cat has high needs and will feel anxious when he is not with me for a long time. I feel so appreciative that Jennifer provided high patience on taking care of my cat and proactively sought a better strategy to solve issues. Thank you Jennifer!

We had booked Juan for four days to watch our cat. Unfortunately, a storm caused us to have to cancel our trip after the first day. Juan worked with us and Rover on how to move forward. On that one day we had his services, he was very communicative, sent photos and videos playing with our cat, and overall checked off all our boxes. Excellent experience working with him!

Joaquin was great! He was super accommodating about changing my cat's feeding plan after her automatic feeder disconnected from the internet while I was gone, which I really appreciated. I was also grateful that he took the initiative to clean up hairballs while I was gone - with three cats, I was expecting to come back to a lot of cleaning, so this was a really nice bonus. I'd definitely rehire him
We had a wonderful experience with our dog sitter Aliso and felt completely comfortable knowing our dog and cat were in such caring hands. She was attentive, dependable, and treated our dog and cat with genuine love and kindness. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
