About: I grew up around lot's of golden retrievers (and other dog breeds too)! I love all animals but am most experienced with bigger, more active dogs. The golden retriever my family has now is vastly different from the golden I had growing up. Harper our first dog, adored people but displayed a lot of leash aggression around dogs she didn't know. Millie, our current dog, also loves people but wants to befriend any and all dogs she passes. Having lots of experience walking both of them, I know how drastically different dog personalities can be. With Harper I got very used to changing course on my walks to avoid other dogs and only letting her interact with dogs she knew and owners I trusted. Communicating with other dog owners while out on a walk is very important to me because every dog is different and sometimes interactions can be unpredictable. Regular exercise, mentally stimulating play/interaction, affection, attentive care, and proper training are very important aspects of having a pet. I love going on long walks and hikes, playing fetch in nearby parks, and genuinely enjoy looking after pets. I am also very passionate about cleaning up after dogs and leaving no trace. During a home visit, you can expect that I will feed and medicate your pet if necessary (I only have experience with oral meds), refill their water, let them out to use the bathroom, give them lots of cuddles, and play or walk them till they are tired out. I have lots of available time at the moment while taking a break from travel and would love to fill it looking after local pets! I have a fully fenced in backyard, a friendly and an energetic two-year-old golden named Millie who loves making new friends, and lots of experience with crate training.
About: I have two senior pups of my own! One has arthritis and the other needs insulin shots daily, so I’m very familiar with and love going at the pet’s pace on walks 🥰. I worked at a professional pet care company this past summer, and have been taking care of my neighbor’s animals since I was a little kid! I am a college student currently so my schedule is quite interesting! I’d love to use my free time to take care of your babies, and I greatly enjoy the mood boost and exercise that comes from dog walking. My main priority when taking care of an animal is their comfort and needs. If we are going for a walk, I will make sure their harness is secure and we do not interact with other people or animals (just to avoid a reactive situation). If your pet is a senior, I’ll happily go at their own pace! I have two senior babies myself so they can’t be outside for as long anymore. The same goes for shy dogs, I will never force your pet into a situation where they seem uncomfortable being, such as going for a walk when they are fighting the harness being put on.

About: I’ve had and watched a variety of pets, from small and large dogs to rabbits and turtles. I currently cannot have pets, so I will love yours as my own! As someone in a remote position, I have lots of flexibility needed to take care of your sweet pets. I am able to accommodate many timelines and needs! I care for pets by learning about their specific personality needs ahead of time and ensuring my care adapts to that. I do not currently take care of pets in my own home.

About: I've had dogs and cats in my home and I’ve learned that every pet just wants love, attention, and belly rubs! My best friend is a vet tech, so I’m always learning fun tips and tricks to keep pets healthy and happy. Being the oldest sibling, I’ve had years of practice taking care of things (and loving it!). I also have my own cat (though he doesn't stay with me right now), so I hope it sets your mind at ease knowing I'm also a pet mom myself :) I'm currently working full-time 8 AM - 5 PM, but I'm looking for any hours outside of that. If you are located anywhere in the DMV area (DC, Arlington, etc.) I have no problem commuting to find your pet for their evening walk. Additionally, I live in a pet-safe apartment in Ballston, VA and have no problem with taking in pets also. I have a 2 Bed, 2 Bath apartment. I currently don't have my cat with me, but will bring him in the next 6 months. Otherwise, the apartment does have a big living room space and I've bought a litter box for my own cat to have later. The apartment complex has a designated area for dogs and other pets to be walked. I will take time to get to know your pet and cater to them :)

We had booked Juan for four days to watch our cat. Unfortunately, a storm caused us to have to cancel our trip after the first day. Juan worked with us and Rover on how to move forward. On that one day we had his services, he was very communicative, sent photos and videos playing with our cat, and overall checked off all our boxes. Excellent experience working with him!

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
