“Pixel loved staying at Christine’s. We appreciate how flexible she was with watching pixel and often checked in with us. He’s looking forward to staying with her again in a couple weeks!”

“Shayla is an amazing sitter who pours love and care into the doggies, her home is also very well arranged to have the dogs join her comfortably. I would absolutely book with her again.”

“Jose took great care of our dog. He was incredibly responsive and sent daily photos which was very helpful since our little dog was staying with him for the first time. We will definitely call on Jose to sit for our dog again!”

“Once again, Lauren was really fantastic with my neurotic little pup. As he has gotten older, he has become more quirky. She adapts wonderfully to every situation. She sends regular updates as well. I would trust her with any dog. Thank you Lauren!”

“We left our two year old lab with Jennifer and Joel during a family vacation at the end of summer. We were nervous going into it because we had never left her with someone we didn’t know. I shared this with Jennifer and Joel at the meet and greet and reminded them at drop off. They sent pics and videos every day, which really helped us to feel that our girl was also “on vacation” and having a great time with their two dogs. Thanks to you both for loving her while we were away!”

“This is Kobe’s 2nd time boarding with Kevin and his family! Wonderful hosts, Kobe almost didn’t want to leave and went back in the house to say goodbye :). Will definitely book with Kevin again!”

“Thanks to Susan B. and her family, my husband and I were able to fully enjoy a vacation over the holidays without worrying about our pups. Will definitely reach out to her if we are traveling again!”

“Jorge and Alejandra were amazing sitters! They sent us some wonderful pictures of our dog and were great at communicating. Very flexible and accommodating when our travel plans changed. Would highly recommend!”

“Alyce was wonderful with our boy! She was very caring and attentive. Great updates with messages, pictures, and videos. Nice fenced backyard and screened in porch to play with Mookie. Thanks so much!”

“Prisila has watched out 2 senior pups twice and we have felt connected each time! She sent updates and was flexible with drop off/pick up. She gave them their medications and different foods. Recommend 100%!!”

“Musa and his family were so good to our dog. She was very happy there and I really appreciated Musa and how communicative and thoughtful he was. I definitely plan to have my dog stay with him whenever we travel again!”

“I wish I could give 10 stars to Karen and her family! Our dog, Casey, is a rescue who is a bit anxious when he is away from us, but we didn’t need to worry. Karen kept us updated and we could sense how happy Casey was during his stay. I highly recommend Karen; I know she will be our first choice for a “home away from home” for our dog!!!”

“Zosha was so kind, responsive, and flexible! Care instructions were followed to a T and they sent lots of pictures. The big open yard area right outside the apartment is a big plus, super nice neighborhood. My pup came home so happy and relaxed and I’ll definitely be sending her back in the future!”

“Faustine took such wonderful care of our pup! She provided frequent adorable updates and I could tell her was so at ease in her home. Would absolutely book with her again.”

About: Over the past 20 years, I’ve had three dogs, a Pomeranian, an Akita, and a Yorkshire Terrier. Each one had a different personality, but they were all very attached to me. None of them went to a training school, but they were all well-behaved. I trained them myself before they turned one year old. I currently live in a clean, quiet, pet-free home. There are no pets living in the house at this time, so visiting dogs will not have to share the space with other animals or adjust to another pet’s presence or scent. I only accept small dogs up to 20 lbs and prefer low-shedding breeds. My home provides a calm, clean, and comfortable environment where dogs can feel safe and relaxed during their stay. I’m home most of the day, so your dog will rarely be left alone. Big park around the house. Like walk and play with dog. Small dogs need lots of attention and one-on-one care, which is why I only host one dog at a time. I follow each owner’s feeding routine and do not give dogs any human food. Small dogs can have sensitive stomachs, so I believe consistency is important. My goal is to provide a quiet, comfortable, clean, and healthy environment where every dog can feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for.

Always a joy having Banjo stay with Kevin and his amazing family. They do such an amazing job taking care of him and communicating with us. Feels like he’s almost always sad to leave them! They do a great job with daily updates and photos, and lots of snuggles. Thanks Kevin and fam!
Carmen was, without question, the best dog sitter I could have asked for! My old pup can be quite the grumpy little guy, but she treated him with so much patience, kindness, and genuine affection. She took him on walks, sent wonderful pictures, and accompanied each update with beautifully written notes that made me smile every time. It was clear she wasn’t just looking after him, she genuinely cared about him. Finding someone you can trust with an aging, sometimes difficult dog means the world, and Carmen went above and beyond in every way. I couldn’t recommend her more highly, and I would absolutely trust her with my pup again!
Mia and Hector were exceptional and very reliable sitters for Miley. The entire family showed genuine care and expressed a lot of enthusiasm for her stay. I also had some travel delay conflicts which led to a later pickup than expected and they were very understanding. I would highly recommend and book again!

I'm so grateful to Ellie for taking care of my little Bella! As always, she went above and beyond. When I had to pick up my dog later than originally planned, Ellie made her a special dinner of chicken and rice so she didn't have to miss her usual dinner time. And Ellie's whole family gives my little Bella love and attention, so she feels right at home whether she stays for one day or three.

Leah used to sit for my previous dog, Lola. This was her first time sitting for my new dog, Suzie. Suzie can be a little feisty but I'm sure Leah has come across her type before and I was certain she'd know how to deal with her. Based on the photos Leah sent, Suzie seemed to really take to her! Leah even took Suzie to a marina, which i am very grateful about. I mean . . . if you take my dog to people watch, dog watch, and get some fresh air . . . wow!, i'm going to be pretty happy. So thank you so much, Leah, for taking great care of Suzie.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Oakwood home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Oakwood.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Oakwood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
