“Ruidi took wonderful care of my pitbull mix Sunny. She sent lots of nice pictures during the stay, and she took the time to cook yummy chicken and broccoli for Sunny to enjoy. Sunny usually eats dog food. So I'm sure this was a lovely vacation for her. Ruidi is a loving and caring dogsitter, and I would recommend her!”

“Sush was very kind and our dog came home in great condition. She has a large yard which was very helpful for our dog, and I like that she has kids because that’s great for my dog to be around. We would definitely board with her again!”

“I wish I could give 10 stars to Karen and her family! Our dog, Casey, is a rescue who is a bit anxious when he is away from us, but we didn’t need to worry. Karen kept us updated and we could sense how happy Casey was during his stay. I highly recommend Karen; I know she will be our first choice for a “home away from home” for our dog!!!”

“Andy did an amazing job with my dog Rudy! He sent me pictures and videos of Rudy frequently and was great to work with. He took the time to meet with me the day before and make sure that Rudy would be comfortable while he stayed with Andy. My dog was very comfortable with him, ate all his meals, and adjusted wonderfully with Andy. Since coming home, my dog has been his regular self and seems like he had a blast with Andy. I’d highly recommend him. If you’re looking for a dog sitter, Andy is great!”

“Mocha had a great stay with Shirley and Bomi! This was the longest we’ve been away from Mocha but we felt very at ease having Mocha stay with Shirley! She sent constant updates and cute pictures of mocha that will stay in our photo gallery forever. She was also very attentive and made sure we knew if there’s any concerns as well! Would 100% recommend Shirley to watch your pups!”

“Roxanna is the absolute best. You could not have a better person to work with or to take care of your pet. Her communication was awesome. She sent pictures and videos while we were gone. And her little doggie, Izzy is the sweetest thing ever! My dog, Roger and Izzy became best friends. It went so well- we plan to have doggie play dates in the future. So glad I met Roxanna and her sweet family.”

About: Over the past 20 years, I’ve had three dogs, a Pomeranian, an Akita, and a Yorkshire Terrier. Each one had a different personality, but they were all very attached to me. None of them went to a training school, but they were all well-behaved. I trained them myself before they turned one year old. I currently live in a clean, quiet, pet-free home. There are no pets living in the house at this time, so visiting dogs will not have to share the space with other animals or adjust to another pet’s presence or scent. I only accept small dogs up to 20 lbs and prefer low-shedding breeds. My home provides a calm, clean, and comfortable environment where dogs can feel safe and relaxed during their stay. I’m home most of the day, so your dog will rarely be left alone. Big park around the house. Like walk and play with dog. Small dogs need lots of attention and one-on-one care, which is why I only host one dog at a time. I follow each owner’s feeding routine and do not give dogs any human food. Small dogs can have sensitive stomachs, so I believe consistency is important. My goal is to provide a quiet, comfortable, clean, and healthy environment where every dog can feel safe, relaxed, and well cared for.
“My dogs spent 2 weeks with Lowell. Binnie and Bender loved playing with other dogs and spending time with Lowell. Lowell is very knowledgeable about dogs and provided me great insight on some of the issues I've previously experienced. I went and implemented his recommendations at home as well. We will definitely go back to see him for future stays. There are plenty of friends at Lowell's and my dogs thrived in that environment”

“Erin took great care of our senior dog for over a week! We felt very good about leaving him with her, and would definitely board with her again in the future.”

“Prisila was very easy to work with and both our pet dog had a good experience. We got daily updates on how things were going, including photos and videos. Nola was so comfortable with Prisila that when we picked her up she went back to Prisila several times. We will definitely use Prisila again.”

“Zosha was so kind, responsive, and flexible! Care instructions were followed to a T and they sent lots of pictures. The big open yard area right outside the apartment is a big plus, super nice neighborhood. My pup came home so happy and relaxed and I’ll definitely be sending her back in the future!”

“I felt at ease knowing that Odin was with Han. She took such good care of him and she would send me updates daily with adorable pictures. She is the sweetest and I know Odin had a great time with her.”

“Guy (and family) took such great care of Freckles and treated her like a part of their household. He provided top-notch, personalized care for her and regular updates and photos. We will absolutely book with him for all our dog sitting needs in the future. My dog is on the anxious side and has separation anxiety but I could tell she felt at ease with him. It was honestly the happiest she’s been when I’ve picked her up after time apart.”

“Diana and her family took wonderful care of our Goldendoodle for six days. It was our first time leaving him with a pet sitter, so we were quite nervous. From the moment we met Diana, her warm, friendly and caring personality immediately put us at ease. She kept us updated throughout his stay with lots of photos, videos and messages, which gave us great peace of mind. It was clear that she cared for our dog as if he were her own. We couldn’t be happier with the experience and highly recommend Diana to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving pet sitter!”

“Aisha is the perfect match for Maggie. She is dependable, sends me pictures daily, and shares with my updates and concerns. Every time Maggie arrives to Aisha’s home, Maggie is very excited. They adore each other so very much !”

“Isabelle and her mom took wonderful care of our ragdoll cat, Simon, while we were away! Simon stayed with them and he was clearly happy and cared for! We got updates and pictures each day. They were always responsive by text and eager to do a good job. Such kindhearted people! Simon is our first pet and we had never left him prior to this - but now I have trusted caretakers in Isabelle and her mom. I am so thankful that they opened their beautiful home to him. He certainly loved to explore it!”

Roksolana was a superb dog sitter. My dog has medical issues that require very frequent pee breaks and Roksolana went above and beyond to ensure that he got all his needs met in that and every other way. She sent me tons of photos, which set my mind at ease while I was away (plus they were adorable). Great experience and so grateful for her last minute availability.

I'm so grateful to Ellie for taking care of my little Bella! As always, she went above and beyond. When I had to pick up my dog later than originally planned, Ellie made her a special dinner of chicken and rice so she didn't have to miss her usual dinner time. And Ellie's whole family gives my little Bella love and attention, so she feels right at home whether she stays for one day or three.

Loreen is such an amazing person overall! I was so nervous about leaving my dog, Kian, with someone while going on an overseas trip, and Loreen completely understood how I felt. She gave me so much comfort and reassurance, which made leaving him so much easier. Throughout Kian’s stay, she sent me lots of pictures and videos, which I absolutely loved and appreciated. She gave him so much love, cuddles, attention, and of course, plenty of scratches! She also made sure to keep up with his normal routine, which was really important to me. I had such a great experience leaving Kian with Loreen and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can truly trust with their dog. As someone who gets very nervous about leaving my dog, having that peace of mind meant everything to me. I absolutely love Loreen and honestly wouldn’t want anyone else taking care of Kian! Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of my baby! ❤️🙏🏻

Ji Young was absolutely wonderful! She cared for our 15-year-old Miniature Pinscher, Twix, for four months, and we couldn’t have been happier with her care. Twix immediately became part of Ji Young’s family and was treated with so much love and attention. Ji Young sent us lots of pictures every week and kept us updated on how Twix was doing and behaving. She was also very attentive to Twix’s needs and suggested baths and nail clipping when appropriate. We are so grateful for all the love and care Ji Young gave our little dog. It meant so much to us to know that Twix was happy, loved, and truly part of the family while she was with her. We will always be thankful to Ji Young for taking such wonderful care of Twix. ❤️

Nadine was GREAT! Gizmo only took a day or two to get out of his shy mode and then he was turning over to have her rub his belly. She kept me updated with photos and messages on how he was doing. When I picked him up she even had a cute little blue bow on him. It was the cutest thing.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Pimmit Hills home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Pimmit Hills.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Pimmit Hills sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
