About: I’ve taken care of animals my entire life. I’ve had all kinds of animals, from tiny dogs to big dogs, from social cats to the prickly don’t get too close to me types! I absolutely love animals and have been a vegetarian for 8 years. I currently have two dogs of my own, and often take care of my family’s senior dog (going strong at 16 due to the loving care!) I love going on long walks as well. I’m currently on summer break from teaching so I have a lot of free time on my hands to care for your furry or scaly friends and family! When the school year begins late August my schedule will be more limited to evenings and weekends. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and any special needs so I can provide consistent, attentive care. I’ll always follow your instructions regarding feeding, medications, exercise, and household rules. I understand that every pet is different; some love attention, while others need space—and I’ll respect what makes them feel most comfortable. I’m happy to provide regular photo and video updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is to create a calm, safe, and loving environment where your pet feels secure and cared for until you return. I am also okay with crating if need be!
“Aida is kind, caring person who has a natural rapport with dogs. She promptly showed up at each appointed walk time and was great at interacting with our dog. She made the whole experience very pleasant and enjoyable. We will certainly hire her again.”

“Absolutely thrilled with Ozge dog walking services! She’s incredibly trustworthy, always respectful with my dog, and does an excellent job every time. She spends the time to get my dog tired and sends multiple pictures each time. Her communication is prompt and clear, which makes everything so easy. I highly recommend her to any dog parent looking for a reliable walker. Highly recommend for anyone looking in falls church to walk or watch their dog!”

“We are so lucky to have found Tricia! Reliable, communicative and kind, Tricia and our pup have been having tons of fun at the nearby dog park and going on walks in the neighborhood! Would 100% recommend Tricia and we’ll of course be using her again for all of our dog walking needs!”

“Elise was excellent! Very communicative, took my dog for a good walk and made the whole process extremely easy on my end. Will definitely be having her help with my dog more!”

“Come rain or shine, Amanda was always here with a smile for our big and little bubbas! There is no price for the peace of mind to know that our abode, Finnegan and Nibbs were in good hands while we were away! Would give more stars if I could! Hate to move away, hope to be as fortunate with whomever we find next.”

“Joon was great with Luna, who is a very sweet but timid dog especially since this was her first time being walked by someone else without my presence. Joon was calm, confident, and caring and I will 100% use him again.”
About: Ever since I was little, I have been known to care extra for the animals and creatures around me. I can remember helping out with family friends' dog, cat, or horse feedings fairly early on in my life. I have petsitting experience as well as internship experience at Ark Veterinarian Hospital, where I completed a 6-week full-time internship shadowing Dr. Kate Connell 2 years ago. I was able to work with some amazing technicians and doctors. I was even able to observe a few orthopedic surgeries. Now I can say that I have worked with all sorts of dogs and cats in varying medical and behavioral states. I feel incredibly grateful for the experience. I have pets of my own; my family dog Cabot (a Welsh Springer Spaniel) lives with my dad in Middlebury, and my cat Somtso (a beautiful longhair rescue) lives with me between Pennsylvania and Virginia. My family and I have cared for Cabot for over 7 years now, and sweet Somtso for over 5. I am a full-time college student going into my senior academic year at Dickinson College and am curious about fun ways I could save some money this summer. Let me know if you have any specific questions! Summers are the best time for bookings. Between semesters I have full time flexibility to accommodate a variety of bookings and locations. Working for rover allows me to organize my hours in a way that is best for me and my clients. I live with roommates on campus, and alternate between living spaces when I am home, so having pets stay with me is not something I am able to accommodate at this time. I would love to be able to care for your pets elsewhere. I can do anything from long walks or games of fetch to tire an excited pup out, light training and feedings, and any help with medication or supplement schedules.
“Juan is definitely an animal person and is very caring and thoughtful about his clients and their pets. He’s punctual and communicative. My dog looks forward to his visits!”

“Lei was great with Korra! She was very good with her and took her for a nice long walk, which she needs as an Aussie! Korra had a good time and is nice and tired now. Thanks!”

“Ihana was great and helped us out last minute when our normal dog walker had to cancel a week of walks. She was able to walk Norman with short notice and was very responsive and took great photos!”

About: I recently graduated from the University of Virginia and have been pet sitting since I was a freshman in high school. I’ve always loved pets, and caring for them has become something friends, neighbors, and families consistently trust me with because I’m reliable, flexible, and enjoy spending time with animals. Over the years, I’ve dog sat for families in Charlottesville and cared for households with multiple dogs, helping with everything from walks and feeding to playtime and overnight care. I’m very active and love going on walks, so whether your dog enjoys long walks, playing outside, or just having someone dependable around, I’m happy to accommodate their needs. I’m also comfortable working at all times of day. I’m currently in the process of applying to medical school and have a flexible schedule this summer before I begin teaching abroad in October. This gap period gives me plenty of availability to dedicate to pet sitting, walks, drop-ins, and overnight care. I truly enjoy spending time with animals, and pet sitting has been a perfect way for me to combine responsibility, reliability, and my love for dogs during this exciting transition period in my life. Because my schedule is so open and adaptable right now, I’m able to accommodate a variety of needs and provide pets with the attention and care they deserve. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I carefully follow each pet’s routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, and any special instructions, because I know consistency is important for animals. I am respectful, clean, and reliable in clients’ homes.
“Jiafan has been absolutely wonderful walking our dog! She treats our dog like her own and we can tell she really loves animals. She always leaves a little note after our walk, and we really appreciate that!”

“Kaleigh was great as a dog walker for our energetic labrador for 5 days. Her communication was prompt and friendly. She was reliable and on time, and very flexible in terms of the when worked best for us. She was good with Rustan and he came back very happy from his walks. Would recommend.”

About: I've been watching my neighbor's dogs for 2 years while they go on vacation for 1.5 weeks during the summer. I would drop in and play with them and take them on walks. I also have two cats of my own so if anyone needs a cat sitter or someone to drop in and see your cats I would love to! I am currently a full-time student at James Madison University. With my schedule, it works with my classes (depending on the day) to come in the mornings and/or evenings. In a client's home, I will be sure that the food and water bowl will be filled if needed and will be sure to play/cuddle with them while I am there. I will also be sure to take them on long enough walks to make sure they will be comfortable for the remaining time they have left.

There really are no words to describe Elisabeth's commitment to serving her clients. She goes above and beyond every single time. I am house ridden with a broken femur and she stepped in to help me out this week even though her schedule was already full. I could not have made it through this week without her-she deserves more than five stars!

Lei has been absolutely wonderful with Freya these past few months! Freya is always so happy when she stops by. She is so attentive and caring with her, wiping her paws and making sure it’s not too hot for her to be outside long. She went above and beyond staying past the appointment time when Freya was stubborn and wouldn’t poop right away. Thank you so much for everything!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
