“We were so happy with our experience with Helena and Nathan! After another Rover cancelled on us last minute, they fit us in and truly saved the day! Their yard was amazing - especially for our 95 lb mutt who just loves to run. And our little old man loved the cozy beds around the house. They sent pics and videos every day and our boys came back happy and healthy. As a bonus, while we have noticed our dogs often come back from Rovers smelling like a kennel, after a weekend with Helena and Nathan they came back smelling great!”

“I highly recommend Leslie! She clearly loves dogs, and took the time to get to know Scout. She kept him happy with lots plenty of walks and cuddling time. We received daily updates with photos and a video. I will definitely leave Scout with Leslie next time we need a sitter!”

“Andrea was amazing with Luffy and Leia! Luffy can be a handful, and Leia is very anxious, and Andrea was able to navigate caring for both of them spectacularly! We sincerely appreciate how caring and sweet she is to both of them, and ensuring they are comfortable and cared for at all times. We will undoubtably be asking for Andreas’s help again in the future!”

“Kate did an AMAZING job taking care of my 2yr old German shepherd! She made sure to ask me questions about our typical routine, sent me frequent updates/pics on how my furbaby was doing, and followed all care directions.”

“Nadia & her family took great care of my 2yo Canaan. They have a big backyard & took her for more walks than we ever do! Honestly our pup may have been sad to leave! Great communication & would definitely reach out again.”

“We boarded our dog Kuma with Solomon and he was very attentive. Asked a ton of great questions and made sure Kuma was very comfortable. Sent us pictures and video updates everyday, along with how he was doing. We felt very relaxed and worry free while we were away. Highly recommend, amazing sitter!”

“Angela is a 6 stars out of 5 (but I can only give 5 here). She was extremely flexible with us from the very beginning. Our flight was changed 24 hours before its departure due to the DCA accident, and she was very understanding on our situation, and took our two dogs earlier than anticipated. She constantly sent pictures, was very communicative before and during our pets stay with her; she sent multiple pictures and videos throughout the whole week. She was also very proactive when my dog's leash got broken, and she got another one for him. I appreciate a pet sitter who also involve her family in ensuring pets feel appreciated and warm at home, so thank you very much for allowing your little ones to play with Lio and Saul! If travelling in the future, I'm definitely coming back to use Angela's services. Totally recommended!”

“Candice did a wonderful job caring for our dog! She was communicative throughout the booking, pre-arrival, during care, and through pick up. She genuinely cares about the dogs in her care. We will definitely use her again!”

“We had another great stary with Heather! My dog loves going to her house and playing with her dog and it's nice knowing she's safe and having fun. Will definitely use again!”

“My 2 dogs have stayed with Byamba and his family multiple times now and it's always been an excellent experience-- both for myself and my dogs! They are always well taken care of and I have the utmost trust in continuing to book with Byamba.”

“Temisha was amazing! Regular updates with pics and even videos! You can tell she cares deeply about dogs and pays attention to the likes/dislikes/needs! Would recommend, and looking forward to booking again!”

“Gail was very accommodating to our schedule. She sent multiple updates throughout the day which put our mind at ease. Casper loved cozying up to her and he had a great time during his stay. We would definitely use Gail again.”

“Clover came home from Andrew’s house relaxed, calm, and happy after a week-long stay. Andrew is great with communication and is an expert when it comes to dogs. Highly recommend!”

“Sam was a great fit for our dog, Shiloh. He was appropriately responsive throughout her stay with him sending an update once per day- it felt like enough communication but not too much communication which allowed us to focus on our vacation. Sam is obviously a dog enthusiast! His dog Happy was a great playmate for Shiloh. We took comfort in knowing that Sam worked from home and could take Shiloh on multiple walks per day to get her exercise in. Overall good experience and I would recommend him to others”

“Donna provided very special care to Cocoa. She is a senior pup, and we are forever grateful that Donna provided updates as soon as anything of note happened. She was super responsive to all messages, and Cocoa was comfortable for the entire stay. We may not have Cocoa for much longer, and we are grateful that Donna was extra attentive to her needs and provided the best care possible. Many, many thanks.”

“Repeat customer for doggy day care, but this was Mocha's first time boarding ever! LaurieBeth as always made Mocha feel right at home and sent me updates / pictures throughout the day. I know Mocha is safe and sound when she stays with LaurieBeth. I also appreciate her patience with Mocha as we continue to work on her reactivity and obedience training.”

“Thanks so much Han.! Loki had a great time with Han. She took great care of him. Rapid response with text and questions we had. Will definitely have loki stay with her again.”

“Kerstyn was so amazing to help us out last minute! Our dog, Wilson, enjoyed his stay and we could tell from the photos and videos shared that he was well cared for. We definitely will be reaching out to Kerstyn to watch our dog in the future!”

Jorge & Alejandra, were fantastic with our dog, Hazelnut, while we were away! They sent daily photo updates and followed our exact feeding and walking routine. When we came home, Hazel was happy, relaxed, and well-cared for. We will definitely book Jorge & Alejandra, again!"

Brianna was super kind and patient w/ pup. He takes a long time to adjust to new environments and can be anxious, and there were some challenges but Brianna was always reassuring that it was ok and she handled it well. She sent plenty of pictures and videos and gave daily updates. I recommend her services to anyone looking for a sitter.

Shelley is an excellent caretaker. She is very caring, kind, gentle, and really knows how to take care of dogs. I have a very finicky eater Maltese who is also somewhat anxious when he is boarded, but he always comes back to us happy after the boarding. She communicates with us constantly and updates us on how he is doing, eating, etc. We would drive many miles if we have to, to place our dog with her for our travels - she's that much worth it for us! Thanks for everything, Shelley! All 5 Stars!

We boarded our dog Kuma with Solomon and he was very attentive. Asked a ton of great questions and made sure Kuma was very comfortable. Sent us pictures and video updates everyday, along with how he was doing. We felt very relaxed and worry free while we were away. Highly recommend, amazing sitter!

Aly was AMAZING with my dogs. I haven’t left them with a sitter in two years so I was incredibly anxious about leaving, but they settled right in and couldn’t have been happier. I forgot to pack a couple of things for them but she was able to provide those things last minute which I was so thankful for, and sent pictures and updates throughout the day everyday we were gone. Will DEFINITELY book again :)

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
