“Our Stella had another great stay with Nadine! We loved receiving daily picture and video updates. We could tell our pup was in good hands and comfortable and happy while we were away.”

“Matthew took great care of our dog! He regularly sent pictures and our pup came home exhausted from all the yard/park play. Will definitely book again with him next time we go away.”

“Zosha and his partner took such great care of Jefe! We booked last minute and they were so accommodating and sweet about the whole thing. “My only hesitation with leaving a review is that John and his family will get so much attention that they’ll be booked next time we try to use them! Kidding, sort of. Seriously though, they were wonderful. Very communicative and thoughtful. One of our pups is super nervous being left, and John and his wife sent lots of pictures and reassured us that all was going well. We couldn’t have been happier with the visit and we have already booked them again!!”

“Cathy was very responsible taking care of our dog. She followed all of our instructions for our dog and kept us informed every day on how he was doing. She sent pictures and videos of our dog and spent a lot of time playing with him and walking him. She is a caring pet sitter. We would definitely use her again in the future!”

“Laurie and Rich were so kind and caring for our little Frodo. From their photos, he was clearly comfortable in their home and yard. They kept us updated with his adjustment as it was his first time with them. When they expressed concern when he did not eat his dinner, we assured them that he does skip meals. We were lucky to find them available for our mini vacation. Thank you, Laurie and Richard”

“I am so thankful to have found Byamba on Rover! At the last minute, the dog sitter we had lined up for nine days didn’t work out. I reached out to Byamba to see if he could care for my Aussie shepherd and my sister-in-law’s dog, and within moments I received a response that he’d be delighted to take care of them. My husband and I do not like being away from our Aussie, and Byamba went above and beyond to send daily photos and updates which gave us peace of mind that we had chosen the right care-giver. It was a great comfort knowing that both pooches were with a kind, loving family. We will definitely reach out to Byamba the next time we need a sitter. Thank you, Byamba and family!”

“Shi Ming (aka Frankie) was excellent in every respect! He responded to my very late request within seconds and remained conscientious and diligent about Micha’s care throughout her stay. He sent me texts and photos each day and provided me with an assessment as to how Micha was acclimating to her new surroundings. I will definitely request Shi Ming’s services again in the future.”

Han was excellent watching our dog for a whole week! She was super responsive, provided updates and pictures, and we can tell Finn had a great time! She was also flexible with pick up time when our flight ended up getting delayed. We will definitely use her again in the future and highly recommend!

Helena and Nathan were good communicators, sent photos and were flexible for Bruno's stay. They accepted our last minute request and also helped get his medication from the vet when we were out of town. Would recommend. Bruno seemed to have enjoyed his stay at the house with other dogs.

Zosha and his partner took such great care of Jefe! We booked last minute and they were so accommodating and sweet about the whole thing. Sandika and her husband did a fantastic job watching Dash! They shared tons of photos, updates, and videos every day, and kept him so stimulated with lots of walks, fetch, and playtime with neighborhood dogs. They were flexible and responsive, will absolutely use them again!

Heather was extremely kind and diligent in taking care of Cinnamon for an entire week while we were out of the country. My husband and I felt completely comfortable leaving our senior dog with her. Heather asked many questions, since Cinnamon is 15 years old. She sent us photos and updates, but not too many, knowing we were on vacation. When we picked Cinnamon up, she was perfectly content staying at Heather's house, so I knew she had been loved and happy. We are so grateful we found Heather because we were able to enjoy our trip knowing Cinnamon was in the best possible hands. A million thanks!

We had a great experience. They were communicative, and kept us updated every day with pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our dog is still a puppy, so we know that can come with extra challenges, they took amazing care of him. We would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a loving and reliable sitter!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
