“Lindsay took great care of my cat, Stella Rose! She was reliable, communicative, and is very comfortable with cats. I’d definitely book Lindsay again and highly recommend her to other cat parents.”

“Alison regularly takes care of our cat, Zoe, but this particular time she needed extra care due to some new medical issues. Alison was incredibly flexible, attentive, kind, and communicative when things changed last-minute, and we’re so thankful she could be there for us (again!). Highly recommend!”

“Overall Sierra was great. She was very communicative and was willing to sort of modify what a normal visit would look like since I have pretty shy and anxious cats.”

“Elizabeth was everything I could possibly want in a cat sitter! She took great care of my little guy and gave him all of the love he could have wanted. Will definitely be booking again!”

“I can't recommend Zosha highly enough. I scheduled daily visits while we were on vacation for our cat Chloe to be given her medication and some love - and Zosha did such a great job at both! He went out of his way to give her plenty of affection and even treats on her puzzle toy. Everything was clean and left in great shape, Zosha was super communicative, and sent lots of pictures! Chloe is definitely a fan, and so are we. Thanks again, Zosha!”

“Sara did an excellent job looking after our cat! She was thoughtful, timely, and communicated well with us to make sure our cat was well taken care of. I would recommend her highly!”

“Alexis was amazing with Baxter. We so appreciated the daily contact and the cute photos. We never worried about him during our weeklong vacation. It’s always difficult to leave your loved ones after being with them on a 24 hour basis during this pandemic. Knowing that Alexis was caring for Baxter allowed us to breath a little easier… he was in very capable hands. Alexis is also very friendly, kind, and pro-active. We highly recommend her and plan on using her again.”

About: What sets me apart is that I truly treat every pet as if they were my own. I grew up with two dogs and have years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all ages and personalities. I've cared for family members' dogs, including senior dogs with health conditions that required administering daily medications and providing extra patience and attention. I've also helped care for friends' young puppies, reinforcing potty training, maintaining routines, and giving them plenty of playtime and affection. I understand how important consistency, communication, and trust are when leaving your pet with someone else. Whether your pet needs an energetic walking buddy, a calm companion, or a little extra care due to age or medical needs, I'm committed to making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. Also I WORK FROM HOME, makes day caring for your little ones easier. I'll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. I work from home!! This helps with me being able to give your little one all the care and attention they need, so you can have peace of mind. I have a pet friendly condo where there are plenty of dog spots to walk and play with your loved one. I can crate a schedule around what they’re used to.
“Nedia is absolutely amazing. My pup loves her so much and they had such a great time together. She is so sweet and considerate and I feel so good knowing she’s checking in and hanging out with him! The absolute best!! If you’re looking for someone to book she is the one!!! 🤍”

“Phuong is simply the best ever!! She always goes above and beyond in taking care of our cat and we are so grateful to her! We are able to relax and enjoy our vacations, thanks to her outstanding care!”

“Kateland was excellent in taking care of our cat for the week while we were out on vacation. She would send plenty of pictures and descriptions of her visits and was very kind!”

“Quincy was amazing! She kept me up to date her entire visit and took us on last minute. The dogs had so much fun with her and she provided amazing care. She showed our dogs so much love and affection during her stay, it took all the anxiety off of me as I was away for work. Would definitely book again!”
“Anne has watched my two Labradors three times now, and every experience has been outstanding! One of my pups requires multiple medications, and the other has high anxiety, but Anne consistently handles their needs with care and expertise. She is incredibly responsive, providing regular updates and pictures that always make me smile. Having Anne stay at my house is always stress-free—she is trustworthy, respectful, and left everything in perfect condition. I can’t recommend Anne enough for anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate sitter!”

About: I adopted my cat, Marshmallow, in 2018. Although I don't have a dog of my own, I also love dogs and have experience walking and dog sitting small and medium sized dogs (dog-reactive). I work from home most Fridays, which gives me the flexibility to watch or walk your dog, or to drop in and visit your cat. I generally keep my cat separate from doggy daycare dogs via a tall pet gate, unless they demonstrate that they are calm and non-reactive around each other. I don't have experience yet with dogs over 40lbs, but would be happy to meet and take care of any smaller or medium sized dogs, or cats! I work from home most week days, so I can take care of your dog or cat while home! I would just need a day or so advance notice to make sure I don't schedule on a day I'm not working from home. I don't have a car, so I mostly rely on public transit or ride share, or, if needed, zip car or rentals I have a condo with two bedrooms, and a living room. I would separate my cat from your pet unless they get along (in which case they could socialize but supervised). I would walk your dog or play with your cat at intervals throughout my day, as my schedule tends to be pretty flexible when working from home. And I can feed your pet(s) on whatever schedule they require.

In your home I do love going on walks so I am more than happy to walk them and in my home we are in a busy area with lots of walking space for them.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Merrifield
We absolutely loved working with Alison, who watched our two cats while we were away! Our cats immediately warmed up to her (even our shy cat Moki immediately came out and was comfortable with Alison, which is unusual for Moki!). Alison was a great communicator and sent great updates and photos each day. We hope to hire her next time we need a Catsitter as well!
Amanda has cat sat for our senior cat twice now, and went above and beyond both times. Unfortunately, our cat requires an intense medication schedule due to all of the health issues that she’s accumulated over time, which makes it difficult for us owners to travel without worrying about her. Amanda has been able to deliver on that medication schedule with flying colors. We feel so much better and relieved knowing that our needy cat is well taken care of. Thank you, Amanda!

He is very reliable and response quickly. We had AC issue while we were away and he visited our house to feed our cat so we asked him to check the AC thermostat. He showed us the thermostat with his Facetime just like he did with our cat. It was helpful to confirm the thermostat was off.

Sarah has watched our cat at least three times now for extended periods of time and has done an excellent job every single time. She goes the extra mile by offering to do things such as watering plants, tidying up, rinsing off dishes, visiting extra days, and we are very appreciative and fortunate to have Sarah helping us, thank you!

Victoria was wonderful with both of my cats. She was caring, attentive, reliable and kept me updated throughout her visits.Even my usually shy cat warmed up and came to her which really showed how gentle and comfortable she made him feel.I felt completely at ease knowing both of my cats were in such good hands. She clearly loves animals and went above and beyond to make sure they were happy and well cared for. I would definitely recommend her and would be happy to book her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Merrifield. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
