“Happy to leave my review. Gigi was in wonderful care with Melanie, she came home happy, relaxed, and very much her playful self, running around and stretching like she always does. She was clearly comfortable and well looked after. I’ll continue having Melanie care for Gigi.”

“Susan was a great sitter for our older girl Bailey. She was very friendly and thorough during our meet and greet and provided very clear instructions to best prepare Bailey for her stay. She and her husband have older dogs themselves, so I was very confident in their ability to watch over our dog. Will definitely work with her again”

“My senior labrador retriever had a wonderful stay with Bonnie and I highly recommend her! Bonnie has great communication and was flexible in drop off and pick up times. It's obvious Bonnie is a dog lover, and very attentive to their needs. I was happy to leave my pet in her care and in her comfortable and loving home.”

“Kimberly was a great dog sitter for my dog (Luna). She sent updates daily with pictures. She was very thoughtful and a great care taker. I would define have her dog sit again.”

“Shelley clearly loves dogs and has a great setup in her home including a fenced in backyard. Rosie enjoyed her overnight stay there and I won’t hesitate to leave her in Shelley’s care again.”

“This was our first time leaving our lovely Maddie with someone outside the family. Sujan was amazing! He was clear from the onset that Maddie would be in good hands. Very communicative, shared a lot of pictures of Maddie during her stay and helpful on picking her up. Highly recommend him and his family! It’s great to know that we have a place for Maddie when we travel.”

“Quincy had a great week with Michelle and her family, including Cinnamon. Quincy was taking medications and recovering from leg surgery. Michelle cared for him the way I would have. This was our first stay with Michelle and we will definitely stay with her again.”

“This was my pups first time being boarded and I was a bit anxious. Mei and her family took good care of Sandy and Oreo sending pictures and videos daily showing them on walks and in the house playing.Mei also sent pictures of their sleeping arrangements (I brought their dog beds) asking if it was a good set up for them. I would definitely recommend Mei and her family for anyone’s small breed fur babies.”

“Suzi was very kind to my old Bucky. She took special care of him with his particular needs and limitations. I highly recommend her and will certainly use her again when I have the need.”

“Noelle was amazing with our Millie! We haven’t been able to find someone we have felt comfortable leaving Millie with for an extended stay and Noelle put our minds at ease. She is very attentive to any special needs and discusses all details prior to boarding”

“Jose took great care of our dog. He was incredibly responsive and sent daily photos which was very helpful since our little dog was staying with him for the first time. We will definitely call on Jose to sit for our dog again!”

“Connor was the perfect fit for our high-strung Dachshund/Beagle mix, Jeffrey. From the moment they met, Jeffrey took an instant liking to Connor's calm demeanor. I joked that he was the "dog whisperer" because Jeffrey can definitely be a challenge! After Jeffrey's stay, Connor even shared some tips to help us manage his reactivity, and I'm happy to say they're working. The only downside is that Connor gets booked far in advance, which speaks to how great he is. We'll definitely be planning ahead so we can use his services again!”

“Helena and Nathan were good communicators, sent photos and were flexible for Bruno's stay. They accepted our last minute request and also helped get his medication from the vet when we were out of town. Would recommend. Bruno seemed to have enjoyed his stay at the house with other dogs.”

“Theo had another amazing stay with Leslie filled with cuddles, care and constant attention. We know Theo is at the Leslie resort and spa with bonus treatments including late night play time and morning slumber.”

“John and Sonia were great. John sent me updates and photos of how Wendy was doing through out her stay with him, and I could see that she was enjoying her time with John and Sonia. I am glad I found him on Rover. I won't hesitate to entrust Wendy under his care.”

“We are so grateful to Shiva for taking such wonderful care of our Frenchie, Arya! 🐾 From the moment we met Shiva, we felt completely comfortable leaving Arya in her care. She was incredibly loving, attentive, and thorough, making sure every detail of Arya’s care and routine was taken care of. Shiva was thoughtful about everything—from feeding and walks to making sure Arya was comfortable, happy, and well cared for. She kept us updated while we were away, which gave us such peace of mind, and it was clear that Arya was in wonderful hands. We came home to a very happy pup, and we couldn’t have asked for better care. We highly recommend Shiva to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, thorough, and genuinely caring. We will absolutely be asking her to look after Arya again! ❤️”

“Shermane and Edouard did an exceptional job caring for my dog, Athena! They handled her morning medication with ease and kept me updated regularly, which gave me peace of mind. The drop-off and pick-up process was seamless, and the result was a happy, content, and relaxed pup. I wholeheartedly recommend them and look forward to booking with them again in the future!”

“Kate& her partner were great! They followed the instructions I left so easily, you could tell she knew what she was doing when I didn’t have to explain a slow feeder & raw diet. Kate sent photos and updates regularly, I never needed to reach out & ask for them. She was accommodating with drop off & pick up times. Overall, such a great & stress free experience for me and Oso! Would highly recommend & will be booking again in the future☺️ thank you!”

“Taylor was wonderful with our cat over a long weekend stay. She provided plenty of pictures and was even able to administer some medication for us. We will definitely be using her again!”

Brianna was super kind and patient w/ pup. He takes a long time to adjust to new environments and can be anxious, and there were some challenges but Brianna was always reassuring that it was ok and she handled it well. She sent plenty of pictures and videos and gave daily updates. I recommend her services to anyone looking for a sitter.

We are so grateful for finding Emily on Rover. Cinnamon was meticulously cared for while we were across the country visiting family. Emily sent us updates daily with pics of one happy Senior doggie. We felt comfortable being so far away knowing Cinnamon was in kind, capable hands.

Shelley is an excellent caretaker. She is very caring, kind, gentle, and really knows how to take care of dogs. I have a very finicky eater Maltese who is also somewhat anxious when he is boarded, but he always comes back to us happy after the boarding. She communicates with us constantly and updates us on how he is doing, eating, etc. We would drive many miles if we have to, to place our dog with her for our travels - she's that much worth it for us! Thanks for everything, Shelley! All 5 Stars!

We boarded our dog Kuma with Solomon and he was very attentive. Asked a ton of great questions and made sure Kuma was very comfortable. Sent us pictures and video updates everyday, along with how he was doing. We felt very relaxed and worry free while we were away. Highly recommend, amazing sitter!

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Macy was in wonderful hands from start to finish and enjoyed her time with Emily, who is very friendly and incredibly communicative. We truly appreciated the attention and care Emily provided and would absolutely recommend Emily to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.

Kaitlin and Yung were wonderful and took such good care of our pup Minnie! We were visiting the area from out of town and brought our pup with us, but needed a place for her to stay nearby. They were very communicative and kindly flexible when we had some unforeseen extra traffic on our way in. We’ll definitely book with them next time we’re in the area!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
