“Katherine has been the absolute best for watching my baby! She takes such good care of him and sticks to his extra care needs. I love that she provides pictures and updates each day! Hes always so happy and comfortable when I arrive to pick him up!”

“Another wonderful doggy sitting adventure for our pup Leia! Thank you so much Andrea for watching Leia and helping us when we suddenly needed someone to care for her ❤️”

“Joy and her family did a wonderful job taking care of my dog especially after accommodating me on several fronts — including a last minute request and a dog food delivery that never arrived. She was communicative and courteous and followed care instructions to the letter. She has a great backyard with a pool! Her kids are gentle and loving with pets. Would highly recommend and definitely book again!”

“Noelle was fantastic with our dog! He was well taken care of, had lots of playmates, and was very happy and exhausted from all the fun when we picked him up. She sent us regular updates and photos during his stay to keep us updated. Thanks for taking such great care of him. We are already planning on booking stays with her again!”

“Michelle is awesome and my Goldendoodle Tofu loves spending his “vacations” with her. We’ve used her three times and will always check to see if she’s available first when we need a pet sitter for family vacations. Instead of being scared to left with someone, Tofu runs to her door, excited for his stay. Michelle is also great about sending us updates and videos on Tofu.”

“AMAZING. By far our best experience with anyone on Rover! Priscilla was very communicative. Perfect amount of pictures and videos as well as updates on how the stay was going. I could really tell that our girl was getting the care and attention she is used to as well as play time. We have an English bulldog, and anyone with one knows their folds need daily care, and I could see Priscilla gave these areas attention care as well. I would feel most confident and comfortable bringing our girl back to Priscilla without hesitation!”

“David was very responsive during the booking process, and kept us very well-informed about our pup's stay with him with lots of pictures and messages. I would definitely book with him again.”

“Zahra was great, sent a nice video of the dogs enjoying the backyard and was very prompt with pickup and dropoff and communication. Really felt like dogs were well cared fo while we were out of town. Highly recommend.”

“Fatima was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Smokie! From the start, she was professional, communicative, and clearly experienced with pets. While we were away, she kept us updated and made sure Smokie was well cared for, comfortable, and happy. It gave us great peace of mind knowing Smokie was in such good hands. When we returned, Smokie was relaxed and clearly had been treated with kindness and attention. We highly recommend Fatima to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter. We would definitely book with her again!”

“Stacie was phenomenal with my dog Buddy. It’s the best I’ve seen him so happy and having fun with other dogs while I was away. I’ll give Stacie 5***** (Stars) for such a loving care she gave my dog. She’s the Best and will recommend her to anyone.”

“I highly recommend Sabine. She is very communicative and sends lots of photos. My little Brandy enjoys spending time with her and Sabine's little dogs who are well mannered. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Leslie is simply the best. She provides top quality care for our sweet pup. She stays in communication with us and sends updates during our dog’s stay as needed. Her knowledge of small dogs and their unique needs is an added bonus. We couldn’t ask for a better dog sitter.”

“Ingrid is awesome! My elderly little dachshund has terrible separation anxiety and doesn’t usually do well when I leave town. He got so much love and attention at Ingrid’s! He came home calm and happy. Ingrid sent me regular pictures and updates. I was able to enjoy my trip instead of worrying about him. I’ve already booked with Ingrid again and highly recommend her!”

“Taylor was fantastic with my 2 dogs. She provided daily updates and photos and my girls came home happy and healthy. They will definitely stay with Taylor again and I recommend her to anyone in need of dog sitting.”

“Andrew and his family took care of my old guy Brownie so well - I do not think my doggie missed me! He was very good at keeping me informed and sent lots of pictures. My dog enjoyed his stay with his new second family.”

“Our second time booking with Jorge & Alejandra, they are wonderful! Took such great care of our pup, she got more playtime with them than she ever gets at home! Will definitely book with them again.”

“Wyatt took excellent care of our Annie! We received a plethora of updates and she came back to us excited and tired from all of her play. We will definitely book with him again as we have the need to board our dog!”

“I was nervous to leave Winnie for the first time with non-family but Cheryl and Gustavo (and their family) welcomed Winnie and made her feel right at home! I received daily photos and updates which helped ease my worries, she was very well taken care of, loved on, and treated like one of their own. Will definitely rebook for our next trip. Winnie enjoyed her vacation as much as we did!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clifton
Linda took great care of our dog, Goldie. It was really nice to have her at a home that only boards one dog at a time as I think multiple dogs can become overwhelming. Linda’s dog, Lucky, is very sweet and I know Goldie enjoyed having Lucky as a playmate. Linda kept in touch with us and sent photos of Goldie during her stay. It was nice to have peace of mind about our dog being taken care of in a loving home while we were away.

This was Luna's first overnight stay (10 days) with a non-family member. When we did the meet and greet, Shaye and Peter were very warm and asked a lot of questions about Luna. They were made sure Luna felt comfortable with them by letting her sniff around their hone. It was apparent they were dog people. During the stay, Shaye sent periodic updates on how Luna was acclimating to her stay and pictures. We felt very comfortable with Luna staying with them. Their dog, Julep, was very sweet and mild mannered. We would definitely use Shaye again in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
