“Suzi was so great with our 16 year old, senior pup. We were nervous at first since we don’t often have others watch Roxy. Suzi was very patient with her and gave us regular updates and pictures, which we really enjoyed and appreciated. She even went out of her way to purchase additional wet food for Roxy (we sent her with wet and dry). We know Roxy enjoyed herself. Would highly recommend!”
“Candice was an excellent sitter for Ahsoka. They took to each other immediately and she sent me plenty of pictures. Ahsoka was very loved and I look forward to hiring Candice again.”

“Karen is fabulous! Super organized! She took care of our 2 dogs all week and treated them like they were her own. They had tons of walks, snuggles & playtime. She kept us updated a few times per day every day to know how they were doing and sent us over 120 photos in a week (on average more than 10 per day). She truly deserves more than 5 stars.”

“Loki enjoyed his stay with Camila and her family. She sent us pictures and told us how he was doing each day while we were on our trip. Her kids were good to Loki. He is a rescue and I am sure he was anxious to be left again. Camila understood and made sure he had lots of snuggles pets to and treats. We appreciate them giving him lots of love on his first time away from home.”

“Jorge and Alejandra were amazing sitters! They sent us some wonderful pictures of our dog and were great at communicating. Very flexible and accommodating when our travel plans changed. Would highly recommend!”

“Leslie took great care with our boys, Bodhi and Bear. This was the first time we left them with a pet sitter. It was reassuring to get regular updates and photos for our boys from Leslie. She did a wonderful job caring for them, giving them plenty of love and activity. They seemed to settle right in and had a great stay. I highly recommend Leslie and will use her again!”

“My dog had an excellent stay with Rosario! She kept me posted constantly with photos of breaks and walks, and responded very quickly to my messages. I appreciate that my dog had a big space to run around in and another dog to keep him company during his stay.”

“Remy looked like he was very comfortable and happy with Andrew and his family! It was great to get some fun photo updates and hear how well Remy did settling in and being well taken care of.”

“My pup’s stay with Cindy was absolutely wonderful! Cindy was communicative, flexible, sent frequent updates and pictures, AND provided special care for my special needs girl. She and her husband are kind, friendly people who clearly love dogs. I can’t thank them enough and would recommend to anybody!”
“Joy and her family did a wonderful job taking care of my dog especially after accommodating me on several fronts — including a last minute request and a dog food delivery that never arrived. She was communicative and courteous and followed care instructions to the letter. She has a great backyard with a pool! Her kids are gentle and loving with pets. Would highly recommend and definitely book again!”

“We are extremely impressed and pleased with how Stephen and his family took care of our dogs! We have two basset hounds and they were provided with royal service, were pampered by the family love and attention. Every day of the stay Stephen updated us with reports with photos and videos and even being overseas we knew that our beloved pups are receiving a great care and happy! We will be using Stephen's service again and recommend to anyone to enjoy his high level of professionalism!”

“As always my pugs had a great time with Lindsey! She is incredibly patient with their idiosyncrasies and general wackiness! When I ask them if they want to go see ms. Lindsey they both get excited and spin in circles to get in the car!”

“Sophie is so pampered with Meghan and Irene. She is older and they carry her up and down stairs to keep her safe. They fight over who is going to get to sleep next to her. They show as much love for Sophie as they do for their own dogs. Sophie is always happy to arrive at their house.”

“Hoa was great! Our dog was a happy pup staying with her. She had lots of toys for him to play with and puzzles to get treats! Very kind, loved all the pictures and videos she sent while we were away”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clifton
Linda took great care of our dog, Goldie. It was really nice to have her at a home that only boards one dog at a time as I think multiple dogs can become overwhelming. Linda’s dog, Lucky, is very sweet and I know Goldie enjoyed having Lucky as a playmate. Linda kept in touch with us and sent photos of Goldie during her stay. It was nice to have peace of mind about our dog being taken care of in a loving home while we were away.

This was Luna's first overnight stay (10 days) with a non-family member. When we did the meet and greet, Shaye and Peter were very warm and asked a lot of questions about Luna. They were made sure Luna felt comfortable with them by letting her sniff around their hone. It was apparent they were dog people. During the stay, Shaye sent periodic updates on how Luna was acclimating to her stay and pictures. We felt very comfortable with Luna staying with them. Their dog, Julep, was very sweet and mild mannered. We would definitely use Shaye again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
There are 7,132 sitters on Rover for Pet Boarding in Clifton. About 90% of Clifton sitters can respond to requests in under 60 minutes. Whether you’re planning ahead for holidays, need last-minute care, or need same-day coverage for an urgent trip, you can message multiple sitters at once to find available care.
Once you find the right match, you can arrange a Meet & Greet to ensure they are a perfect fit for your pet’s personality before confirming.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
