“Mariel was fantastic. We knew our Minnie was in good hands. We received daily pictures and updates showing us how quickly Minnie settled in to her routine at their house. We knew she was being showered with love while we were away. Awesome experience! We would highly recommend Mariel as a pet sitter.”

“Rosalina was very attentive; she communicated thoroughly with me about my fur baby (Percy). Percy enjoyed himself, the amount of happy pictures concurred this, and I were at ease the whole time he was with Rosalina and her watchful care. Hoping to book again in the future.”

“Lindsey was very kind, caring and patient with my senior dog in her care for a week. She texted some photos during the week to let me know he was safe and happy. What more can you ask? We'll be back!”

“Mila had an incredible time with David and his family, as always. There’s honestly no better compliment than seeing her come home both exhausted and a little sad—it’s the perfect sign she had a wonderful time and didn’t want to leave. Thank you once again for taking such amazing care of her. Looking forward to next time!”

“Boarded my cat, Lulu, with Samantha for a week and have nothing but good things to say! She took excellent care of her and was very responsive before, during, and at the time of pickup. She made sure Lulu was comfortable during her stay and provided plenty of updates throughout the week. Would absolutely book with Samantha again for any future boarding needs. Thanks again!!”

“Poornima was amazing! She helped us out last minute over the weekend and took such good care of our dog. She kept us updated with texts and videos, which made us feel so much better while we had to be away unexpectedly. Our dog looked happy, relaxed, and totally comfortable with her. We’re really grateful for how kind, thoughtful, and reliable she was. We’d happily book with Poornima again and definitely recommend her!”

“Jeannette took good care of LuLu during the stay, and sent multiple pictures updates. I will definitely recommend and will book again if I need a sitter in the future! Thanks again Jeannette!”

“Hoa is an amazing caretaker. Her passion for caring for senior dogs is evident. She is conscientious, responsive, and timely, and was diligent in administering medication to my dog as requested. She also kept Hallie active, providing plenty of walks and outdoor activity. I would be happy to use Hoa’s services again.”

“Brianna was wonderful! The girls were well taken care of & had no issues giving them their pills every morning. Our girls will be back for another stay — we are so lucky to have found her. Highly recommend!”

I am delighted with this connection and will gladly make more arrangements. Very attentive, friendly, interactive and responsible care, highly recommend! Many thanks Andrew and family!”

“Chaoran was great with Ari from the 26th–1st. She was very communicative and kept me updated with messages and pictures, which I really appreciated. I also had to extend the stay last minute, and she was super accommodating and adjusted the booking with no problem. Overall, a really positive experience and I’d definitely use her again.”

“I highly recommend Sabine. She is very communicative and sends lots of photos. My little Brandy enjoys spending time with her and Sabine's little dogs who are well mannered. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“A wonderful experience! With this being our first time away from our Oshie, we were nervous but Jona made us feel comfortable from the start. She kept us posted about Oshie’s adventures. Sending lots of pictures which we all loved. Oshie was all smiles when we picked him up. Would definitely use Jona again!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Clifton
Linda took great care of our dog, Goldie. It was really nice to have her at a home that only boards one dog at a time as I think multiple dogs can become overwhelming. Linda’s dog, Lucky, is very sweet and I know Goldie enjoyed having Lucky as a playmate. Linda kept in touch with us and sent photos of Goldie during her stay. It was nice to have peace of mind about our dog being taken care of in a loving home while we were away.

This was Luna's first overnight stay (10 days) with a non-family member. When we did the meet and greet, Shaye and Peter were very warm and asked a lot of questions about Luna. They were made sure Luna felt comfortable with them by letting her sniff around their hone. It was apparent they were dog people. During the stay, Shaye sent periodic updates on how Luna was acclimating to her stay and pictures. We felt very comfortable with Luna staying with them. Their dog, Julep, was very sweet and mild mannered. We would definitely use Shaye again in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
