“Richard and family took excellent care of our Daisy. It was her first stay with him and he sent us regular updates, photos and video. Was a huge reassurance that she was not only doing okay but playing and having an awesome time with Richard and his family. We will definitely book with him in the future!”

“James and Iryna provided excellent care for my dog. They shared frequent updates, fed every meal on time, and made a genuine effort to help my dog adjust to the new environment. I truly appreciate their time, patience, and thoughtfulness throughout the boarding period.”

“Leaving Lexi with Kathleen for a week while I was on vacation was one of the best decisions I could have made. From the moment I dropped her off, I knew she was in great hands. Kathleen went above and beyond by sending me pictures and updates every single day, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. It was obvious from every photo that Lexi was having an amazing time, getting lots of love, attention, and playtime. When I picked Lexi up, she was happy, relaxed, and honestly looked like she had been on a vacation of her own! She had so much fun that she didn't even want to come home, which says everything about the care Kathleen provides. If you're looking for someone who will treat your dog like family, I can't recommend Kathleen enough. She is caring, trustworthy, and truly loves what she does. I'll absolutely be booking with her again!”

“Very accommodating schedule-wise and understanding of dogs’ individualized needs! Appreciated the communication with updates and pictures during the stay. Will reconnect when needed :)”

About: I have over 25 years of experience caring for homes, people, and pets. Throughout my work in housekeeping, many clients entrusted me with the care of their pets, including both dogs and cats, often in households with multiple animals. I am experienced with feeding routines, litter box care, walking dogs, basic grooming support, monitoring well-being, and providing both playful and gentle companionship depending on each pet’s personality and needs. I am comfortable caring for puppies, senior pets, and administering basic attentive care when required. As a former CNA, caregiving has always been second nature to me. Whether caring for people or animals, I lead with patience, compassion, and responsibility. I understand the importance of trust when someone is away from their loved ones human or furry and I take that responsibility seriously. I am also skilled at multitasking and managing busy households while still ensuring each pet receives individual attention and care. My goal is simple: for pet parents to feel completely at ease knowing their pets are safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for in a calm and loving environment. In addition to pet care, I teach classes on Zoom twice a week as part of my regular routine. This allows me to maintain a flexible schedule and plan my availability in advance. Because of this, I am able to reliably provide dog and cat care services throughout the week, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings as needed. I am organized, dependable, and committed to making sure pets receive consistent attention and care while their owners are away. I provide pet care directly in the client’s home so pets can remain in a familiar, comfortable environment and keep their normal routine. I follow all instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walk times, litter box maintenance, and any special care needs. I also make sure pets receive companionship, attention, and gentle interaction based on their personality whether they are playful, shy, or more independent. I am very mindful of keeping the home clean, secure, and respected at all times. With my background in housekeeping and CNA work, I am used to being responsible in other people’s homes and understanding the importance of trust, privacy, and consistency. My goal is to ensure pets feel safe and cared for, and that owners return to both happy animals and a well-kept home.
“Katie was an absolute gem of a sitter! From the moment we met her, her calm and gentle energy put both my dogs—and my anxious son—at ease. She was incredibly patient, answering all his curious questions about how our dogs would do with her cats. To our delight, they all got along beautifully! Katie sent the sweetest photo updates that truly captured how comfortable and content they were in her care. It gave me such peace of mind. I’ll definitely be booking with her again and recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter. Thank you, Katie!”

“Our pup seemed so happy with Heather. She had great communication with us was able to extend our stay when we needed a few more days. I would recommend her and use her again.”

“Well this was Loki ( our 6 month old) Coton. He is extremely attached to his Daddy ( me). We started with a Meet and Greet to see how things are but for us and the dogs together. Noelle was very knowledgeable and caring ( she Loves) animals ( dogs). Everything went great, she let us borrow something for our dog which we forgot. Saturday was the Wedding day, drop off early 9:00 am and explained his food and things we brought for him. She asked how much contact we wanted. ( I guess she will send you basically pics and videos of your dogs day) I said nothing unless they are having fun and cute pic. She sent just a few and they were AWESOME! We picked Loki up the next morning. He was happy and they (dogs) were walking together. Everything went GREAT! We would highly recommend Noelle and services. She is a little higher than some but also not the most expensive. BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! Thank you again for caring for Loki!!!”

“Vino had a great time and Jim sent me pictures twice a day of my little guy. He also took him pretty last minute as I had sent the request at about 10am for a two night stay beginning that night! V didn’t even want to come back home with me! Haha, he liked his new buddy!”

“Maria was wonderful with our dog and sent plenty of photos and updates. This was my first time using Rover and I was very nervous but it couldn’t have been a better experience.”

“Jeannette took good care of LuLu during the stay, and sent multiple pictures updates. I will definitely recommend and will book again if I need a sitter in the future! Thanks again Jeannette!”

“Hoa is an amazing caretaker. Her passion for caring for senior dogs is evident. She is conscientious, responsive, and timely, and was diligent in administering medication to my dog as requested. She also kept Hallie active, providing plenty of walks and outdoor activity. I would be happy to use Hoa’s services again.”

“Hannah was great! We were gone for a week and she provided daily pictures and updates on how our two dogs were doing. She followed all my instructions and provided extra attention during a thunderstorm and fireworks. I would definitely have my fur babies back to stay with her!”

“I love using Candice to take care of Ahsoka. She is reliable and flexible and consistently sends me pics, and she was this time as usual. I look forward to hiring Candice again.”

I know my senior husky is in good hands with Dietra and David, whether it’s an overnight or a week-long stay. Since she was a puppy, she’s never been comfortable around men - even ones she’s known for years. But after just a couple of visits, she warmed right up to David and trusts them both completely. That’s the ultimate testament to how kind, attentive, and patient they are with her. They also send great updates during each stay, so I never worry while I’m away.

Taylor was absolutely wonderful! She did an amazing job and was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. We felt completely comfortable and knew we were in great hands. She went above and beyond, and we truly appreciate all of her care and hard work. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. Highly recommend Taylor!

Corey was amazing with my dogs. This was the second time he watched them. They came back happy and tired. I loved the pictures and videos he sent and he is always prompt responding to my texts. He is a true animal lover and I know my dogs love going to his house.

Leonard was great! He was incredibly patient with Pepper, who is a ball of anxiety and takes a while to warm up. I really appreciated the updates—the girls always looked comfortable. I also appreciated Leonard’s flexibility when I needed to add an extra day at the last minute. I’ll definitely be reaching out to him again for boarding. Highly recommend!

First time using rover. I was looking for a in home dog sitter for my dog for 1 week. So i was recommended by a friend to download the Rover app for first time instead of boarding at a facility because of his age. I am So pleased with Sarahi, She did so amazing with my senior dog. He had so much love and attention & cuddles. I was also sent daily pictures of my dog Doing different activities. She did such an amazing job tending to our dog booger. We will definitely be using her services again ❤️ thank you Sarahi for looking after Booger

Daniel took great care of my little dachshund! He is older, has daily timed medication needs, and has terrible separation anxiety. Daniel was able to handle it all with no problems. He went above and beyond sending cute pics and giving me updates. My little guy came home happy and calm. I could tell he’d gotten a lot of attention while I was away. I would definitely rebook!

Walter was great! He provided lots of photos and videos, and is detailed in his updates. He is a pro who has a clear system that works for getting dogs used to his place. At the end he confirmed that he was giving us back all of the right items (extra food, bowl, ect), along with how the dog was doing.

I was able to do a meet and greet with Iris and she was very communicative and friendly. She clearly loves animals and I had no issues or concerns with leaving my puppy with her. My puppy was well taken care of and I would use Iris again if needing a sitter for my puppy.

Becky was wonderful with our dog(Roxie). Roxie spent two nights with Becky and her lovely dog. She communicated about how Roxie was adjusting and sent pictures. Roxie can be a little shy and anxious about certain things, Becky knew how to handle her and make her feel comfortable in her home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
