“I can always count on Dana to watch our dog, I always feel at ease whenever I leave him with her and he had another wonderful stay! Thank you for making your home his second home :)”

“Rosalina was awesome. I had someone cancel on me and she was able to accept the job very last minute. She sent so many pictures each day. I would definitely recommend and use her services again.”

“Cindy was wonderful! We appreciated the opportunity for the meet and greet visit and the tour of her property. We felt great about leaving our dog in her care. Our dog Watson who generally is shy was able to adapt very quickly to the new environment and the professional care by Cindy! Thank you so much for giving loving attention to Watson!”

“We cannot thank Catherine enough for the service that she provides. Our pup is always very happy to arrive at Catherine’s and, more importantly, happy and relaxed when he returns home. Catherine was so kind and flexible when our flight was canceled, resulting in what we anticipated would be a very, very late pick up. You should not hesitate to make a booking with her. She will take very good care of your fur baby.”

“Erica was fantastic! 🌟 This was our first time ever boarding our 3 1/2 year-old sheltie, so we weren’t sure how well he would do. We checked out two local kennels, and they were not a good fit for him as he was very scared. So we looked into dog sitters in a home environment. I met with Erica before the booking and she put my mind at ease. When we got him back he slept most of the rest of the day since he had so much fun playing with all the dogs! He was well cared for and we will definitely book with her again! Thank you so much ❤️ 🩵”

“Incredible first time experience using Rover by choosing Taylor. She was so communicative and sent pics and videos every single day, letting me know immediately if she had any questions or concerns. She gave our puppy lots of outside time and bonding time with other pups. I felt that my puppy was so well taken care of and safe. Even gave us a gift bag as a way of thanking us - so sweet! I would 100% recommend!”

“Absolutely wonderful dog sitter and caregiver! Kathleen (Katie) has been my go-to dog boarder for over 15 years, and I was thrilled when she joined Rover so more people could find her. She recently watched my dog for me, and it was just as fantastic as always. From the very first day we met, I knew my pups were in the best hands. Katie truly loves dogs and it shows in everything she does. When we adopted our puppy a while back, Katie was incredibly helpful — offering advice, extra patience, and gentle guidance as we all adjusted to life with a new little one. She has such a calming presence with dogs of all ages and personalities. My dog always comes home happy, well-exercised, and clearly well-loved. If you’re looking for someone who treats your dog like their own, look no further. Katie is professional, communicative, trustworthy, and genuinely passionate about what she does. I recommend her without hesitation — she’s the real deal! Thank you, Katie, for always taking such great care of my furry family members. ❤️”

“Beth watched our dog for 5 days and even dropped him off for us when we got home from vacation. She was very communicative and gave us daily updates. I would recommend Beth and her family to anyone looking for a pet sitter!”

“Tracie was able to watch Flurry at the last minute. She was super responsive, sent us photos and videos, and kept us up to date while he was with her. Her family made Flurry feel at home and we knew he was in great hands. Highly recommend and we will use her again!”

“I can’t say enough good things about the care my 12-year-old baby Dharma received! Leaving an older dog behind is never easy, but from the moment we connected, I knew Dharma would be in loving hands. Mei was incredibly attentive, patient, and truly treated Dharma like part of the family. I received regular updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. Dharma came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely loves dogs and understands the needs of senior pups, Mei is the one. Thank you so much for taking such wonderful care of my girl!”

“Michaela was great! She kept us informed throughout our dog’s stay and sent tons of pics. We felt so comfortable leaving him in her hands. He had the best time. Highly recommend Michaela and Austin! We’ll definitely be a repeat customer.”

“Once again Cori made me feel really good about leaving my pups in her care. She’s a doll to work with. As if one quirky bull terrier isn’t enough, how about adding a 1 y/o bull terrier and leaving both for 2 weeks? Cori had her hands full but dealt with the issues the young one caused (regression potty training issues, territorial issues, etc). As always, very communicative and understanding about the young one (we figured out that since Pixie was newly rescued, that she must’ve been confused about yet another home she’d been shuffled off to and that was probably the source of the angst). Bodie wasn’t neglected or ignored in this. He may have even gotten to sleep in a human bed… 😂 We don’t have any trips planned any time soon but Cori’s still top of my list (if she’ll have Pixie again!) when I need someone.”

“Great experience boarding my dog with this family! I met up with them prior to boarding and after talking with them, I could tell this was going to be a great match! My dog is high energy and it’s really important for me to know that she will have fun while she’s staying somewhere. This family understood this and really went above and beyond to give me peace of mind while I was away. I could tell from the photos and videos that my pup was cared for the way I would care for her. I highly recommend and will be using them again myself in the future.”

“Candice did a wonderful job caring for our dog! She was communicative throughout the booking, pre-arrival, during care, and through pick up. She genuinely cares about the dogs in her care. We will definitely use her again!”

“Andrea was great and Buzz had a great time over the weekend. She was great sending pictures when we were away and always kept us updated. Will definitely use her in the future.”

My dog China has been going to Rachel for a few years now. I love her! She’s so good to China and I always feel good about leaving her with Rachel. She has so much space for dogs to run around. She sends me pictures of China during her stay. She’s awesome. I would highly recommend.

Tracie was able to watch Flurry at the last minute. She was super responsive, sent us photos and videos, and kept us up to date while he was with her. Her family made Flurry feel at home and we knew he was in great hands. Highly recommend and we will use her again!

I’m always a bit nervous to leave my dogs with anyone other than their trainer because I know how much work they can be, but Caroline was fantastic! I can say with full confidence that she treated our dogs extremely well which was evident through the photos shared while we were away and their overall demeanor upon pick up. I can’t say enough great things and absolutely recommend her to anyone that’s looking for someone to dog sit.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
