“Hoa is an amazing caretaker. Her passion for caring for senior dogs is evident. She is conscientious, responsive, and timely, and was diligent in administering medication to my dog as requested. She also kept Hallie active, providing plenty of walks and outdoor activity. I would be happy to use Hoa’s services again.”

“Excellent! Sabine was very easy to work with and gave multiple updates each day. Our little pup ate well there and was happy when she came back home, which are all signs that her care was very good. Would highly recommend.”

“This isn’t my first review for Stacie (and Ziggy), but I cannot emphasize how much I appreciate Stacie, her family and their dog Ziggy for taking care of my Nala! Her ears perk up whenever she realizes that we are packing to go somewhere and mention Ziggy’s name, and goes crazy (and goes onto tapping on our entrance door knob!!). Stacie always sends us pictures and Nala always looks happy (too happy sometimes to make me think she doesn’t want to come back home). Also, Stacie is ALWAYS honest about her schedule, the dogs that are already staying there (for the sake of compatibilities of the dogs), so she’s not just taking any dogs or however many dogs to make money. She genuinely cares and wants to provide the best service. Thank you, Stacie!”

“Chaoran was great. She took good care of Elsa and kept me informed about how she was doing. When I went to pick her up, Elsa seemed a bit conflicted as to whether she would prefer to stay there or come home with me.😂 I took that as a good sign.”

“Cindy was incredible! She sent photos of our pups and kept us in the loop the whole time. I cannot thank her enough and look forward to boarding my dogs with her again in the future. Absolutely recommend!”

“Hap-E is home well settled and already gone to bed. Looks like he had so much fun for the 3 weeks he was with you. Thank you so much for taking care of him like he was family. I am so grateful Noelle, that I did not worry about Hap-E for a single day as I knew he was in excellent care. He will definitely miss your company and peanut treats!”

“I'm so grateful that my first time using Rover led me to Dana, who took care of my pups, Boogie and Lilli, while I was away. She did an amazing job looking after them, and they absolutely adore her. Dana made sure they were happy and well looked after. It was clear that she really loves dogs, and my pups felt comfortable and happy around her. I'm so relieved to know that they were in good hands during my first experience with Rover. I highly recommend Dana if you need someone to look after your pups. She's fantastic, and my pups think she's the best! Thank you, Dana, for taking such good care of Boogie and Lilli. 🐾💜”

“Richard and family took excellent care of our Daisy. It was her first stay with him and he sent us regular updates, photos and video. Was a huge reassurance that she was not only doing okay but playing and having an awesome time with Richard and his family. We will definitely book with him in the future!”

“Cadence is very nice and patience person. I'm first time to found the sitter on this web, kinda made a little time to found the person to help me.When I contact few sitter that she is the first one to reply me very fast and then we make a schedule to do a quick meet on dog park. I went vacation one month on the different country, she still text me a few photo and message, I will say that is really helpful to make me not anxious too much. She take care of my big dog very well and her puppy very chill and friendly to play with my dog, I don't make sure if other people will choose her to be their dog sitter, but I will definitely work with her again in the future. Thank Cadence and your husband for taking care of my doggy~see u in the next time.”

“I'm soo happy I booked my pups with Guojin. My pups looked like they were cared for and having fun. I appreciate that and the massive amount of pictures that were shared with me. Thank you!!!”

“This was Frank’s first time staying with Noelle, and he made himself right at home. I think this is because she is a gentle, loving person. She was great about updating me as well. Very satisfied!”

“This was our first visit with Raji, but you would think our pup had known her for her whole life. She loved it and, aside from being sleepy because she had so much fun, Gryff is happy and health. Thank you Raji !”

“Anthony always takes such good care of our kiddos. Highly recommend! Our usually timid and shy baby girl jumps out of the car and goes into her “home away from home” with ease now.”

“Leslie is guaranteed the best sitter within the DMV area. She has transformed her home into a dog’s luxury resort, complete with total attentiveness, ultimate amenities, and activities that a dog could only dream of. In addition to all of that, her communications are fantastic and Cash is always so excited to arrive at Ms. Leslie’s and never ready to leave. I’ve never had such peace of mind leaving Cash if/when I have to be out of town.”

I’m home throughout the day and evening, allowing me to provide consistent care, scheduled feedings, regular potty breaks, and plenty of attention. Dogs are let outside in my fenced backyard every 1–2 hours. Our dog Scout always enjoys a stay at Rachel's place. We've used her services several times for family vacations. She's great with communication and we always feel secure leaving him with her. I don't like leaving him at crowded boarding places where he's likely not to get any attention. We like having him go to Rachel's where he feels comfortable and not cooped up in some kennel all day. Your dog will be well taken care of with Rachel!

Tracie was able to watch Flurry at the last minute. She was super responsive, sent us photos and videos, and kept us up to date while he was with her. Her family made Flurry feel at home and we knew he was in great hands. Highly recommend and we will use her again!

I’m always a bit nervous to leave my dogs with anyone other than their trainer because I know how much work they can be, but Caroline was fantastic! I can say with full confidence that she treated our dogs extremely well which was evident through the photos shared while we were away and their overall demeanor upon pick up. I can’t say enough great things and absolutely recommend her to anyone that’s looking for someone to dog sit.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
