“We booked them when our usual sitter was unavailable. It’s so stressful trying to find another person to trust with your dog but Quojin and Daniel took such great care of Luna! They sent plenty of pictures and she looked comfortable and loved. Will definitely let Luna stay with them again 💜”

“Teddy loves staying with Katie and her cats! She’s super responsive, provides consistent updates, and always makes me feel at ease while I’m away. Teddy has stayed with her a few times now, and I never have to worry because I know he’s in great hands. He absolutely loves playing with her cats and always comes home happy from all the fun. I would definitely recommend Katie to anyone looking for a caring and reliable pet sitter!”

“Priscilla was absolutely amazing with our Chihuahua, Peanut! From the moment we met her, she made us feel comfortable and confident that Peanut would be in great hands. Leaving your dog with someone else can be stressful, but she made the entire experience so easy and reassuring. She sent us thoughtful updates every day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that she genuinely cared about Peanut and took the time to get to know his personality and needs. She was incredibly gentle, patient, and attentive with him, and her knowledge and experience really showed throughout his stay. We truly appreciate the love and care she gave Peanut, and we’re so grateful to have found someone we can completely trust. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Priscilla again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and compassionate pet sitter. Thank you so much, Priscilla!”

“Fatima was very attentive to all the details I told her about my boy. I felt very safe and assured leaving him with her and I would definitely go to her again. She is very responsive to any texts and questions you may have!”

“This is the second time we have left our Newfie with Andrew and his family. Once again our Millie was treated like a Queen. She obviously received lots of attention as she was hesitant to leave when I came to pick her up. I just booked her next stay.”

“Very accommodating schedule-wise and understanding of dogs’ individualized needs! Appreciated the communication with updates and pictures during the stay. Will reconnect when needed :)”

“Jane is awesome!! She takes care of my baby as her own and sends detailed update throughout the stay. I always make sure I board my dog at her place as i know she will be in a good care. Definitely recommend her if you are looking for a safe homely environment for your dog.”

“This is an absolutely fantastic choice for a dog-sitter, in my mind. Leslie was loving, caring and she treated Frances, my terrier-dachshund with the closest and kindest attention—plenty of walks, balanced diet, happy human company to sleep with when she desired, and various places to rest—so Leslie passed those all those important measures. She also sent me photographs with comments fairly often, which delighted me and made me know that Frances was safe and happy! But then, of Great value was the fact that she always could find positive human companionship—her cousin came, and let Frances and another dog, sleep on his knee, looking utterly content, her roommate really liked Frances and showed it, and Leslie did too. AND there was always her dog, and then occasionally a neighbor’s dog or another client’s dog visiting for a number of hours. That was Heaven for Frances, and just what I was hoping for. A place where Frances could be, as Leslie put it, a member of a pack. NOT a large, in any way overwhelming pack, but a small pack, consisting of one or two or conceivably three other dogs, which she could be with. THAT and the essential human warmth which was very much present—was all I could dream of—and Leslie provided it. Thank you so, so much. I will definitely use her services again! Leslie is cause for peace of mind, great happiness and satisfaction for Frances and me.”

“Kim was everything I had hoped for. She was kind and attentive and she let our Lily feel right at home, giving her the run of the house and yard, and her choice of comfy beds. She provided great communication and lots of pictures to help reassure us that all was going well. This was our first Rover experience and we feel very fortunate to have found Kim!”

“Sujan was amazing boarding Aspen for 3 nights. He came back to us relaxed and happy and he definitely had a great time. He was well cared and we received a lot of pictures. We will definitely be using Sujan again! Thank you so much!!”

“Suzi was absolutely fantastic with my dog, Zuko! She took great care of him and treated him like her own. She is very communicative and let me know how he was doing regularly! I felt at ease knowing he was comfortable and happy with her. Thank you, Suzi, for loving on my Zuko while we were away! We will absolutely book again! ❤️”

“Samantha took amazing care of Lauren. Daily updates with pictures and videos that showed how comfortable and happy my fur baby was at her home. Her food, play, and walk schedule was followed. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave Lauren with her again.”

John and Joanna are now used to my maltese dog, it is this 5th time they take care of her. She is now used to them and so do I. They have suck a lovely and welcoming approach with her. They are my first choice when when I need to travel and can't take our dog with us . Please keep doing this amazing work!!!

Our boy LOVES staying with Katie! She is always responsive, kind, and accommodating. She even let us drop our dog off at 4:00am when we had a last minute flight cancellation, and made him chicken and rice when he had an upset stomach. Cody is always so happy to see Katie and her two kitties! We’re very lucky to have her close by.

Melissa was a professional, punctual, and dedicated dog sitter. Our 2½-year-old English Golden Retriever stayed at her spacious home for two weeks. She has a modest backyard, and the neighborhood is perfect for nice, long walks. Throughout his stay, Melissa kept us updated with everything we needed to know and sent us photos, allowing us to truly enjoy our vacation without worrying about our dog. We highly recommend her services! 🐶❤️

We’ve trusted Ji ung and hyunjoo with Prince Henry multiple times on week long vacations and we always come home to a very happy and tired boy! They are always so flexible with their availability and we appreciate them accepting visits even on short notice. Would highly recommend!

Zahra took fantastic care of our cat! She was very commutative, always responding quickly and sending lots of pictures during the stay. We could tell our cat was happy, loved, and well cared for while he was there! She was also very understanding when our travel plans were unexpectedly delayed, impacting our pickup time, which was exceptionally kind of her!

Leonard was great! He was incredibly patient with Pepper, who is a ball of anxiety and takes a while to warm up. I really appreciated the updates—the girls always looked comfortable. I also appreciated Leonard’s flexibility when I needed to add an extra day at the last minute. I’ll definitely be reaching out to him again for boarding. Highly recommend!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
