“Cesar's home was the perfect choice for our puppy. Our dog stayed for a week.Every picture Cesar sent showed our pup running in the sunny backyard, playing with other dogs, or snuggled up on the big chair. We could tell he was well loved and taken care of when we returned. I would highly recommend Cesar for boarding. His back door walks out to a huge, fenced yard with no steps, which is easy for senior dogs.”

About: I've had a dog in my home my entire life, and am always the one my friends/family turn to if they need someone to look after their pets. I have also fostered multiple dogs with leash reactivity, and have had some 1-1 work with an R+ (positive reinforcement) trainer to ensure pups can have the best experience out and about in the world while still getting their sniffs and exercise in. I occasionally run outside so I can offer to run with your pup(s) 1-2 times a week if you'd like, and I live 5 minutes away from Baron Cameron park if you like for them to play with other pups during the day at a dog park as well. Or of course we can just snuggle most of the day while I work from home. Well either way there will be lots of snuggles and pets... My last dog passed away in 2025 after a year long battle with cancer, so I have no problem giving medicine and making sure we stay on a strict schedule with food/medicine if that is what your dog needs. I look forward to becoming your pup's new best friend! I work part-time from home. I'm available for day-sitting while you're at work or overnight boarding when you're out of town. I'm typically up by 7:30, have a fenced in backyard, go on walks/runs throughout the day and love going to the dog park if your pup enjoys it! I have a 6 foot fence in my backyard that your pup can play around in. Take 2-3 x 25 minute walks around the neighborhood throughout the day and can occasionally go for 30-60 minute jogs if your pup enjoys more exercise (1-2/week)

About: I provide thoughtful, home-based care for dogs who thrive in a calm and structured environment. As a work-from-home sitter, I’m able to give consistent attention, supervision, and a steady routine throughout the day. I have hands-on experience caring for dogs with different energy levels and temperaments, and I pay close attention to their behavior, comfort, and safety. What sets me apart is that I keep things intentionally small and controlled. I take the time to understand each dog’s needs, and prioritize a low-stress experience with plenty of outdoor time, gentle structure, and a secure fenced yard. I also require a meet-and-greet to ensure the right fit, so every dog in my care feels safe, comfortable, and well looked after.I keep my care intentionally small so each dog gets consistent attention and a calm environment. Doggy care fits naturally into my daily routine since I work from home and am able to provide consistent supervision and companionship throughout the day.Dogs in my care are part of a calm, structured routine that includes regular outdoor time in my fenced yard, walks on nearby trails ( My fenced backyard opens directly to walking trails for easy access to outdoor time and walks) along with plenty of time to rest and relax indoors. I build my schedule around the dogs I’m caring for, making sure they get a good balance of activity, attention, and downtime. On a weekly basis, I keep things predictable and low-stress, which helps dogs settle in comfortably. I’m mindful about not overbooking, so each dog receives the time and attention they need without feeling overwhelmed. Whether it’s a weekday or weekend, their care and routine remain consistent so they feel safe and at ease... When pets stay in my home, I focus on keeping their routine as consistent and comfortable as possible. I follow each dog’s feeding schedule, potty routine, and any specific instructions provided by the owner. Dogs have regular access to my fenced yard for bathroom breaks and outdoor time, along with walks on nearby trails depending on their energy level. Inside the home, dogs are given a calm space to relax and are never left unsupervised for long periods since I work from home. I introduce dogs thoughtfully and only take on a small number at a time to maintain a safe and low-stress environment. I also pay close attention to behavior, appetite, and overall comfort, and I communicate with owners if anything seems off. My goal is to make their stay feel predictable, safe, and as close to their home routine as possible.
“I love using Candice to take care of Ahsoka. She is reliable and flexible and consistently sends me pics, and she was this time as usual. I look forward to hiring Candice again.”

“Ali did an amazing job watching our pup for five days! Cooper is an eight month old morkie who is going through a skittish phase with new people. Ali and her family put him right at ease and updated me with photos throughout the week. I could tell he was relaxed and felt right at home! Staying with a family was a much better option for Cooper than a kennel. I would highly recommend Ali and will be using her services again!”

“Michelle was patient with Gizmo. She was always sending me updates and letting me know how he was doing. He is a very timid dog so he just followed her around and she was okay with that :)”

“Our little guy had a wonderful week with Renata! She was amazing with him! She was very attentive to his preferences, and she sent updates and great pics each day. He looked relaxed in the pics, and it helped us to see him enjoying himself! Renata was super kind to us about accommodating scheduling changes. She put me at ease! Most important, in the past with a different boarder, our little puppo returned home seeming a little frazzled. But after a week with Renata, he came home relaxed and happy!! We will return!! :)”

“Hommer and his wife are very caring and attentive. Angus took to them immediately and seemed very comfortable. It was a very positive introductory experience and we look forward to using them again.”

“Jill & Sean took good care of our dog. They were quick to answer questions and send pics of our dog. Our dog had an upset stomach and they took good care of him. Thank you!”

“Katherine has been the absolute best for watching my baby! She takes such good care of him and sticks to his extra care needs. I love that she provides pictures and updates each day! Hes always so happy and comfortable when I arrive to pick him up!”

“Jorge and Alejandra were AMZAZING!! I have a very anxious girl (dog) Roo and they made sure she was very comfortable and felt right at home! They were great about sending updates and putting my mind at ease! Roo had a great time and was very tired when she came home! I felt very comfortable with her staying with them! They truly treated her like part of the family and I will be contacting them when needed again!”

“From the moment Ninfa opened her front door, we could tell Vinny was going to be very happy staying there. Ninfa obviously loves dogs, and Vinny took right to her. From the pictures and video Ninfa sent us it was easy to see he was being properly fawned over and enjoying himself immensely. We will definitely use Ninfa’s service again whenever we can.”

“We are so, so grateful to have found Gil and family to watch our sweet Henry whenever we're away! Henry is getting up there in age and pretty lazy, but he loves and needs people to be around more often than not. There's almost always someone at home at Gil's house, and Henry just adores the older kids, too. We get photos during Henry's stay and never feel worried about how he's doing. We'll always book Gil and fam whenever possible!”

“Extremely grateful for the care Carla and her family gave to my animal. I received multiple photos and videos daily to keep me apprised of how she was settling in. Though I was at a conference and didn’t think I’d need updates, these photos and videos brought a smile to my face and reminded me that the little one was in great hands. We’ll be back xo”

“We left our two Beagles with Mindy for 3 nights, and we couldn’t be happier with the care they received. From the initial meet-and-greet, it was clear Mindy loves animals and knows how to handle energetic pups. She sent daily updates with photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away—seeing our dogs happy, well-fed, walked made all the difference. Both dogs came home relaxed, and excited to see us, with no signs of stress. Thanks Mindy!”

“Musa was a great sitter for our kitten Dooly :) His pictures and updates kept us entertained and relieved while we were away from Dooly for the first time! We hope to book with Musa again in the future.”

Leslie has been taking care of our two pups for a few years now. She is great with both dogs who each have very different personalities and different needs. She makes them feel at home which reduces the stress of being boarded. We will continue to use her in the future!

Ksenia was fantastic with Lenny! We scheduled a meet and greet to introduce him to Ksenia and the space. Ksenia asked great questions and took notes to ensure the best care for Lenny. She sent us daily updates and photos during his stay, and played lots of fetch with him. We recommend Ksenia to anyone looking for great care for this pets!

Catalina was a wonderful pet sitter to my two dogs Ozzie and Salty! This was our first time booking with her and she made our two doggies feel very safe and welcomed. I asked Catalina for a meet and greet before the booking and Ozzie and Salty immediately gravitated towards her and her husband, which was such a great sign! Catalina made sure to send us daily pictures and updates of the dogs and she asked questions when needed. Our dog Salty is sometimes a little finicky with eating his breakfast or dinner and she made sure she took the proper precautions to get him to eat. She also made sure they got proper exercise. The doggies definitely felt at home at their house! From smiling faces, to car rides, to cuddles, and a small hike, they were extremely content staying at Catalina’s home and with her care. We will definitely be using her services again and we highly recommend her for any pet sitting needs! Thanks Catalina!

We had a wonderful experience with Kaylan & Naman. They were reliable, caring, and kept us updated with photos and messages throughout our trip. It was clear Odie was happy, well cared for, and received plenty of attention and exercise. We would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.

This was our second time booking with Gilbert, and we couldn’t be happier! He and his family take such great care of Oz, and we love the personal attention he gets — plus the bonus trips to the gym. Gilbert will always be our first choice for pet sitting, and it should be yours too!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
