“Thank you for taking care of Flash. Was definitely a new experience for him as a switch from a previous caretaker - this experience was awesome for Flash - an experience to interact with Arjun, play Fetch and in the process to even get trained and get Flash used to the atmosphere so quickly 🙏 This was a great exposure and I am confident enough to keep my Flash in a responsble family 🙏”

“Hommer and Hellen are the best! They were very receptive and willing to accommodate even the smallest of requests and they provided ample updates throughout each day of our pets stay for the peace of mind we needed. They are very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make sure that our pets felt comfortable and taken care of during their stay.”

“Kaylyn and Naman were great! I received updates and photos throughout the week. I know our pup had a great time and was in good hands. Next time we go out of town, I will definitely be booking with them again.”

“Leanna was fantastic with Odin and super flexible with pickup and drop-off. You can tell she really loves dogs and is well prepared for any that could happen. I would definitely recommend her!”

“Lydia has been the best dogsitter I've ever met. She absolutely is the best. She never forgot to send daily pictures of my dog and always asked questions when she had some concerns about my dog. She is a very caring and detail-oriented dogsitter. Once you meet her, you won't go back to your usual dogsitter. Thank you so much for everything!”

“Renata was absolutely wonderful and made my first time using rover wonderful. She’s so sweet and communicative while I was away with pictures and updates. Brinx had a wonderful time”

“Akshata did a wonderful job looking after dog, Peach! She was extremely loving, attentive, and caring of our fur baby. Peach is normally a little anxious when meeting new individuals, but Akshata helped her feel incredibly comfortable and safe from the start. About: “I’ve been caring for pets for over 20 years and have experience with dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs needing a little extra care. I’ve personally raised three dogs from puppyhood through adulthood, so I understand the patience, consistency, and love pets need at every stage. I’m comfortable administering medications and following detailed care instructions to make sure your pet stays happy and healthy while you’re away. You can count on me to be reliable, communicative, and attentive—I know how important it is to feel confident your pet is in good hands.” “I work a 9–5 during the week, but I’m available for evening visits, as well as overnight care. Weekends are wide open for more flexible scheduling, whether your pet needs extra attention, longer walks, or extended stays.” “I focus on keeping pets comfortable, safe, and as close to their normal routine as possible. In a client’s home, I follow all care instructions closely—from feeding schedules and walk routines to any specific preferences your pet has. I make sure they get plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship so they feel secure while you’re away. Safety is always a priority. I’m mindful about leashes, doors, and surroundings during walks, and I keep a clean, calm environment in the home. I’m also experienced with administering medications if needed. I know how important communication is, so I provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident your pet is happy and well cared for. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a safe, comfortable, and pet-friendly environment where they’ll get lots of attention and care. I make sure they feel relaxed and at home, with plenty of time for play, rest, and affection.”

About: I am on a short career break while waiting for a clearance to come through to start my new job. Looking to fill my days with some furry friends while I wait! I have always been a dog lover and have lots of experience with doodles specifically but love all dogs. I have one pup (Lulu, 2 yr old 35lb mini Bernedoodle) that loves everyone and everything. Currently between jobs and at home most of the day! I am up and at it early during the week either on runs or at the gym. I have a small fenced in yard and live a few steps from 3 of the Reston trail entrances! I am very active and love to go on walks with my dog.

“Musa and his family are wonderful with our dog, who can be quite quirky. He was extremely excited to see Musa when I dropped him off... which has never happened with a sitter before. Thank you for caring for him so well!”

“Another fantastic stay with Andrea! Luffy is doing wonderfully, and Leia of course enjoys every stay. Thank you so much again, Andrea, and we’ll see you again soon! :)”

Our cavapoo had a great time with Gilbert! We are especially grateful for the timely communication when our dog got into something he shouldn't have. We were informed immediately and we figured out a solution followed by close monitoring. Our dog is fine and I will have no hesitation to book again with Gilbert.

It’s telling when your dog is just as excited to see the sitter as they are to see you return. Kendall took great care of our reactive pit bull mix, who’s also terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks. Unfortunately, Bear’s stay was during fireworks and storm season, but Kendall managed her anxiety well and kept us regularly updated. We’d be happy to have her watch Bear for future trips too.

Perry was an amazing sitter for our pluto. Very sweet and thoughtful ☺️ She made sure pluto was comfortable in every possible way, plus pluto gained a friend in Perry and Caesar 💕 Communicating with her was very easy and she always kept us updated the whole time. Would definitely book with her again!

We are SO glad that we boarded Valentina with Erica and Kyle! They have the sweetest family and Valentina loved her time with them so much that she didn’t want to leave! She had tons of play time with their little dog and their children and lots of training time with Erica and Kyle. They also kept us updated with daily photos, videos, and texts. They are the best!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
