“Our dog had a two week vacation with Staci and was very comfortable with her. It was great receiving updates and pictures and I was completely confident that Staci was taking great care of our baby.”

“Andrew and his family provided such a wonderful and warm home for an anxious pup like ours. It was Colters first time at a sitters home and they made it go as perfectly as possible. We can’t thank Andrew & co enough and highly recommend him to all pup parents!”

“Valerie took exceptional care of my two dogs while I was away. She kept me updated with lots of photos, took them on walks and gave them lots of love. I was so comfortable leaving my pets with her and will definitely use her in the future!!”

“Teddy just came home from spending 3 nights with Ali and her family. When I picked him up he was all brushed out and handsome and he came home with a surprise toy that Ali gave him. These little extras separate her from other pet sitters. When he got home he was a bit out of sorts, but I think he just misses playing with her daughter and all the extra attention he got. I highly recommend Ali's pet sitting services.”

“As always, Peter took wonderful care of our girl, even extending his booking when we experienced an emergency and needed extra coverage. He truly cares about both our pup and us as owners, and we’re so grateful to consider him part of our team.”

“Omar and his family took such great care of my Bella while I was away. From the moment I dropped her off, I could tell she was in a warm, welcoming environment. She had a blast playing with the other dogs and soaking up all the attention they gave her. What really stood out was the communication. Omar kept me updated with messages, and pictures which made it so much easier being away from her. I could see she was happy, relaxed, and truly being cared for like one of their own. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with him again. Bella came home happy, and that says everything.”

“Serena and her family took the best care of our 1 year old labradoodle pup! They have a great home and backyard for dogs, and he came back exhausted from all the playtime. It was also our wedding weekend, and they got our pup to the venue for pictures. Cannot recommend Serena enough!”

About: We have always been around with dogs and have genuine love for them. We have a beagle mix (TOTO) and he loves running and playing with other dogs! We also have experience taking care of dogs and cats for our friends. Except for running basic errands, we will be home with your pets almost 24/7. I’m currently working fully remotely from home and my husband’s work schedule is also flexible, so we will spend a lot of time with your pups! Our day starts around 8AM and we do a 30-min walk then breakfast. We have a fenced backyard and your dogs will have free access to it. We offer playtime throughout the day as well. Around 6PM we have another walk for about 40 min and then dinner. Around 11PM we do another bathroom break before bed. 1. Daily Routine -We can feed according to your schedule and dietary instructions. -We usually do two long walks (30-45 min) per day and let our dog go out to backyard a couple times or whenever he wants to. So we will make sure your pet(s) have two (or more if needed) walks and let them have regular potty breaks in backyard throughout the day. 2. Exercise & Enrichment -Feel free to bring your own toys and we will also offer toys and play games with your pets. -Our dog loves playing with dogs too and he’s full of energy so I’m sure your pups won’t get bored! 3. Safe Environment -We have a fenced backyard to let your dogs run and explore! -We have multiple rooms so we can separate dogs if needed.
“Nina is such a great dog sitter, she took good care of our lil Theo. Additionally sends pictures and videos during pet sitting. I would highly recommend her. Thank you Nina for such an amazing job.”

“Awesome dog hosts My Lab’s first experience away from home could not have been with a better family. We really appreciate the care and kindness that Carla and her husband and family provided.”

About: Hello! I've been around dogs my entire life and have years of experience caring for them. I'm currently the proud owner of a friendly 2-year-old Golden Retriever, so I understand the importance of providing pets with plenty of attention, exercise, and love. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping your dog company, I'll treat your pet like one of my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for while you're away. I’m a teacher in Tysons, VA and I’m currently on summer vacation. I like to be busy so I’d be able to pet sit/walk pets whenever necessary! I’m extremely tidy and dependable. I’ve worked as a housekeeper and nanny so I’m comfortable working in someone else’s home while also being able to respect their space and keep it nice for them and their pup!
“We are so, so grateful to have found Gil and family to watch our sweet Henry whenever we're away! Henry is getting up there in age and pretty lazy, but he loves and needs people to be around more often than not. There's almost always someone at home at Gil's house, and Henry just adores the older kids, too. We get photos during Henry's stay and never feel worried about how he's doing. We'll always book Gil and fam whenever possible!”

“2nd time sending Luna with Wenyan and could tell from the updates Luna made lots of new friends….so much fun she came home a tired girl…..very special place for letting your dog get cared for when unable to take them with you on a trip….”

“It’s telling when your dog is just as excited to see the sitter as they are to see you return. Kendall took great care of our reactive pit bull mix, who’s also terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks. Unfortunately, Bear’s stay was during fireworks and storm season, but Kendall managed her anxiety well and kept us regularly updated. We’d be happy to have her watch Bear for future trips too.”

“Ninfa did an incredible job with my two dogs. She gave me thorough updates and I felt so comfortable leaving them with her. Her experience shows too. She’s great with them! Thank you!!”

“Alexa is seriously the best sitter of all time! She took incredible care of my Bengal cat Noah. She is a true cat whisperer and she was so responsive, so caring, and would send me updates and photos. I have never trusted someone more to care for my baby cat. Do yourself a favor and book her!!”

“We traveled from NY to MD. we needed someone take care of Franco then I found a great person! She has a huge yard that Franco enjoyed a lot with other dogs! Communication with her was fun and very quick so, I had never worried about him. If we go back there again I contact Sophia again! thank you so much!!”

“Andrea was wonderful! She did an amazing job watching both Luffy and Leia, and they seemed to has a blast. Will absolutely be booking another sitting with Andrea in the future!”

Cesar and his wife took wonderful care of our dog Mochi for 10 days. We received daily updates and sweet pictures of her playing well with their dog Jasper. Not once did I worry about Mochi, you could tell that she was being very well taken care of and nurtured the whole time. Cesar has a lovely home and a beautiful and spacious backyard for the pups to run around. I am so grateful to have found such wonderful care for Mochi. When I picked her up she was completely happy and freshly cleaned and was honestly sad in the car to leave his place! I trust Cesar and his wife wholeheartedly and am thankful for them!

Erica and Kyle took absolutely amazing care of my dog, Rhyme. From the very beginning, it was clear how patient, attentive, and genuinely caring they both are. Rhyme can sometimes be a bit particular, but they handled everything with such calmness and understanding that it immediately put me at ease. What really stood out to me was how much love they showed toward her. It did not feel like just a service—it felt like they truly enjoyed spending time with Rhyme and treated her like their own. Kyle’s patience and Erica’s warmth made such a perfect combination, and I could tell Rhyme was happy, comfortable, and well cared for the entire time. I highly, highly recommend Erica and Kyle to anyone looking for trustworthy and compassionate sitters. I will definitely be booking with them again and again in the future without any hesitation. They are simply the best, and I am so grateful to have found them.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
