“Candice was an excellent sitter for Ahsoka. They took to each other immediately and she sent me plenty of pictures. Ahsoka was very loved and I look forward to hiring Candice again.”

“Highly Recommended! I couldn't be happier with the care Barfie received! Nalleli did an incredible job socializing him and kept me updated with daily photos and videos, which I truly appreciated. It was so clear he was happy, well-exercised, and loved—I'll definitely be booking again!”

“I'm soo happy I booked my pups with Guojin. My pups looked like they were cared for and having fun. I appreciate that and the massive amount of pictures that were shared with me. Thank you!!!”

“Great Boarder. I highly recommend them. My dog usually has separation anxiety and nervous around other dogs, but he was happy and got along well with the other dogs. They provided a lot of pictures and videos during his stay, so I could relax knowing that he was well taken care of. Definitely will rebook in the future.”

“I will be using Vivian’s stellar service again! I was nervous since I had never boarded my anxious pup with a stranger before and Vivian was so kind and affirming. She sent a ton of pics, videos and general updates, that I even shared with friends and family who could immediately tell (as could I) that my Roro was comfortable and well taken care of. She’s really everything a pet parent could ask for! And Biscotti is so cute and a sweet!”

“Priscilla was absolutely amazing with our Chihuahua, Peanut! From the moment we met her, she made us feel comfortable and confident that Peanut would be in great hands. Leaving your dog with someone else can be stressful, but she made the entire experience so easy and reassuring. She sent us thoughtful updates every day, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. It was clear that she genuinely cared about Peanut and took the time to get to know his personality and needs. She was incredibly gentle, patient, and attentive with him, and her knowledge and experience really showed throughout his stay. We truly appreciate the love and care she gave Peanut, and we’re so grateful to have found someone we can completely trust. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with Priscilla again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and compassionate pet sitter. Thank you so much, Priscilla!”

“This was my pups first time being boarded and I was a bit anxious. Mei and her family took good care of Sandy and Oreo sending pictures and videos daily showing them on walks and in the house playing.Mei also sent pictures of their sleeping arrangements (I brought their dog beds) asking if it was a good set up for them. I would definitely recommend Mei and her family for anyone’s small breed fur babies.”

“Vidhi did a wonderful job taking care of Buddy. Communication was smooth throughout his stay, and she sent daily pictures, which gave me peace of mind. I also loved that she also has a mini Goldendoodle, so Buddy had a buddy to keep him company! He looked very comfortable and happy in her home. I would definitely recommend Vidhi, and I have booked her again for next weekend.”

“Leaving our dear pup Shadow for 18days was the longest we have left him. We were very nervous but Lindsey came to our rescue! She was so kind and understanding with Shadow and his crazy energy and submissive/excitement pee accidents. She kept us posted about Shadows day and shared pics. She also took shadow for long walks/hike. We are truly grateful to Lindsey for taking Shadow in as her own for such a long time. We hope to rebook with Lindsey whenever ever our next non dog friendly vacation comes up.”

“Kaylyn and Naman were great! I received updates and photos throughout the week. I know our pup had a great time and was in good hands. Next time we go out of town, I will definitely be booking with them again.”

“William and family, thank you for boarding Milo while we were out of town. It was so nice knowing he was so well cared for. It seems he had great time playing with your dog Maui. The pictures were so great to receive. Thanks again for putting our worries at ease. You guys rock!”

“Jeannette took good care of LuLu during the stay, and sent multiple pictures updates. I will definitely recommend and will book again if I need a sitter in the future! Thanks again Jeannette!”

“I had to leave my dog for a week, and I was very worried because he needed to take daily medication. At first, he didn’t take his medicine well, but they patiently cared for him and never gave up. They also sent frequent photo updates, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. I could truly feel that he was safe and in good hands. When he came back home, he was calm and well adjusted a clear sign of the love and care he received. I’m so thankful and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy place to leave their pet.”

“We are SO glad that we boarded Valentina with Erica and Kyle! They have the sweetest family and Valentina loved her time with them so much that she didn’t want to leave! She had tons of play time with their little dog and their children and lots of training time with Erica and Kyle. They also kept us updated with daily photos, videos, and texts. They are the best!”

“Would definitely hire Marcel again. It was the first time leaving my 4 month old puppy but I was comfortable knowing he’d be in safe hands. Marcel took my pup for a nice long walk and made sure he was cuddled and loved.”

“This was 100% the BEST dog care experience we have ever had. The family and I mean family as everyone loved on our Maggie and made her feel cared for during her entire stay. Our travel plans changed and got extended due to cancelled flights and the family made us not only feel relaxed about it but let us know Maggie is welcome for the extended stay and not a burden. We had numerous photos and stories shared daily and out dog looked SO happy in each photo. We could NOT recommend this Rover more and am so glad we took a chance by booking her as she builds up her reviews and is newer to this platform. Thank you again for loving on our Maggie this past week!”

“Lauren took such great care of my Teddy while I was out of town. Plenty of walks and play time, he looked so happy in every photo she sent (except for the ones he was peacefully snoozing in). I’d leave Teddy with her again anytime!”

“Sandy came home pleasantly exhausted! We got regular photos, had easy communication, and very flexible dropoff/pickup with Carla. We have had our pup there twice and will return!”

Nathalie is a fantastic sitter!! Our dog can be very anxious, but she warmed up immediately and had a great time. She took wonderful care of her, ensuring she ate even when hesitant and giving her plenty of outdoor play time. We will definitely be booking with her again 😊

Omar was fantastic with our two dogs during a two-week stay. He sent lots of photos throughout and kept us fully updated the entire time, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. He was consistently responsive to messages and clearly took great care of both dogs. We highly recommend Omar and will definitely book him again!

Kaylyn and Naman are amazing!! My dog Maggie had the most amazing time staying with them and sent me daily photos of Maggie throughout her stay. They are both so sweet and accommodating. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
