About: Hi there! I’m a recent graduate from the University of Virginia (3.94 GPA, Public Service Scholar, Double-Major) and have been caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities since I was young. Neighbors, friends, and local families have relied on me for feeding, playtime, and drop-in visits (both cats and dogs), and I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for in their own home and on walks. I truly love spending time with dogs—they’re honestly one of my favorite parts of life. I bring a fun, positive energy to each visit, while also staying calm, patient, and attentive to each dog’s individual needs. I treat every pet like my best friend and always approach care with compassion and consistency. Please note: I use only positive reinforcement when caring for animals, and I’m happy to reinforce basic training during walks or visits if requested. I also genuinely enjoy giving baths, so I’d be happy to help keep your dog clean and fresh as an add-on service. I’m dependable, detail-oriented, and follow instructions closely. I always send updates and photos so you can feel confident and at ease while you’re away. I’m currently in my gap year, saving for graduate school, and would love to spend that time caring for pets in the Reston area! As a post-UVA Grad, I have an extremely flexible schedule following mid-May. I provide care exclusively in/around your home, including requested walks, baths, playtime, and other specified general care. I pride myself on strong communication and provide regular updates and photos so you always feel informed and at ease. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding routines, walk schedules, medications (if needed), and any household guidelines. I’m careful with doors, gates, leashes, and home security, and I always double-check that everything is secure before leaving. I focus on keeping your pet in their familiar environment, or, where requested, so they feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free. I pay close attention to each pet’s behavior and comfort level, whether they need playtime and energy or a calm, quiet presence. I use only positive reinforcement and never punishment. I also send regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing and can feel confident they’re in good hands upon each drop-in or walk.
“Kaitlin was amazing! She took care of my two cats for a week and a half while I was away. They were very well taken care of, and Kaitlin sent lots of pics and updates. Would highly recommend!”

“Asal was wonderful in checking in our two young and slightly skittish cats during a week we were on vacation. She is incredibly friendly and communicative, provided great updates, and we can’t recommend her enough, particularly if you have cats!”

“Amazing experience. Rosemary is punctual, knowledgeable, and truly listens to individual dog needs. My dogs loved her right away, and she was so nurturing during her time with them. We will be booking again!”

“Natalie was a great sitter for our cat! She was extremely thorough with her updates and we could tell that she spent quality time with our cat while we were away. Highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Ed was great! My cat was well cared for during our longer than normal vacation. He got the attention he needed and was happy to be able to remain at home instead of going to a kennel. Ed would send pictures of my cat eating, getting scratches and receiving treats so I knew all was well at home. It was a load off my mind knowing the cat was happy and healthy during our trip! Would definitely use Ed again to care for my cat.”

“We have used Anna for drop-in visits and dog walks. Amazing pet sitter! Punctual, polite, and great with giving me updates and photos. My dog and cat both seem to like Anna a lot. Will continue to use and recommend!”

About: I’ve been an animal lover all my life. I don’t just consider pets as animals, they are family. I am very patient, loving and compassionate. Our German Shepherd recently passed away from lymphoma and we miss him dearly. I would like to share that love with your fur babies. I currently work from home Monday-Friday 9-5. I can do drop in visits and walks during the weekdays. Weekends are usually pretty open as well! We have a fenced in yard on the property. When we are in public, the pet is leashed. I am cautious to not let strangers/pets come up to us.
“Thank you so much Mallory!! She did a great job giving my cat and bunnies love and care while we were away! She was friendly and patient with us (the owners, lol) We love the pictures and notes she sent. I would love to have Mallory back to help us out 🙏🏻”

Jessica was the perfect pet sitter for our senior kitty while we were away. The old lady had her worst illness and first emergency vet trip at 17 yrs old the week before we left the country for two weeks. Jessica was so kind to monitor her food intake, potty status (and do some clean up), and give her meds while we were away. We are so grateful!

I couldn’t recommend Elisabeth more! Our cat is very picky and takes a while to get used to new people. Elisabeth always go above and beyond to help make Sage comfortable and that helps us enjoy our time away more! She always treats Sage to treats, play time, and extra love. She is always on time and someone we can rely on for our trips. She always includes pictures, details of the visit, and lets us know how Sage is doing. I would highly recommend her to anyone!

Nalleli was wonderful! She accommodated my last-minute holiday weekend request and took great care of my three cats. She was very communicative, sent lots of pictures during the visit, and gave me peace of mind my cats were in good hands. I will definitely book with her again!

Colleen did a great job sitting for my two cats while one of them was sick. She gave me helpful updates, sent nice pictures and was also able to administer medicine. I felt really at ease after the first visit seeing how she was updating me, would definitely recommend her!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oak Hill. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
